Thank you, Keith! When my oldest daughter died, I was desperate to find out the "why " I had made an appointment to go over the autopsy report with her pediatrician. The office canceled the day of the appt. because the report hadn't been released yet. I was surprised that instead of feeling disappointed, I received great peace. God's grace allowed me to realize that the answers I sought would never be found in the autopsy findings, but only in surrendering to His great love and mercy.

In the mist of my trials and storms with my son and his degenerative condition is hard, but inviting God and praying the rosary has helped me to stay focused on him and trusting his will. Very important and encouraging message for all of us. We all have struggles and really difficult and tragic events to go through. I am blessed that when I had a very difficult time that I ran to Jesus and not away from Him. I fell deeply in love with Jesus through that immense struggle. I don’t know what would have happened if I turned away and became angry with God, even though I did ask a lot of “whys”. So thank you for reinforcing that we don’t get to ask why! It's amazing how, with so many others saying they struggle too, and your unpacking episodes, I don't feel so all alone when the trials hit. Wow...we're listening to this again!!! 😯That 1st Reading makes sense now, which it didn't the 1st time...(sorry Lord!) 33 years ago, the Gospel & God's Word 'came at me' (zwoosch) from the Ambo at Mass where I was sitting, like a "2 edge sword" while carrying our 1st Child. It was a high risk pregnancy...but after God's Holy Spirit reached me...I received His 'Calmness', for myself, (God's) Baby & Husband. I was able to be at peace for the next 5 months, thanks Be to God!!! (God's) Baby was delivered c-section healthy & a Baby Boy! Praise the Lord!!! 🤗 Now we are Grandparents to 3 precious Grand Children! ☺ All praise, honor & thanksgiving to God, our Creator of Heaven & Earth God Bless us ALL in our/the 'storms'!+++

I think the hardest thing for us to live through is the suffering of a dear family member or friend. I too watched my mom suffer. She was an amazing person, also so strong in her faith. But I took away from her suffering, the loving trust she had for the dear Lord. May we be as strong in our struggles ahead.

Job has always been my go-to book whenever I experience real difficulties. I can't say for certain how that turned out to be, maybe I was guided by the Holy Sprit, but it's been that way going back to my time as a teenager, when the rest of the Bible really didn't do much for me. A friend from a small group I was part of had never really read the Bible and she was asking everyone where she should start. Everyone else mentioned one of the Gospels, I told her to start with Job. A lot of wisdom in that book. They say it's the oldest of the books of the Bible, even predating Genesis. I could see that. The prose has a Platonic sort of style to it, but it truly is inspired by the Holy Spirit, God breaking things down in a straight-forward simple manner. Job stays true to God and wins the day. It doesn't get more elementary than that.

Keith brings up the story of Job, a righteous man who was blessed by God for his righteousness. The most evil, filthy, traitorous, Satan is allowed to re-enter Heaven (before Job mind you) and challenge God by saying Job is only faithful because he is blessed. How does God react to a challenge from a filthy creature? He accepts the silly challenge and allows the righteous and blessed man to suffer. To what end? To prove something to Satan? To prove something to Himself? To prove something to the readers of the future? All empty and unjust explanations for the righteous man to have to suffer as a consequence. Now the logical response for an omnipotent and omniscient being should have been, "I know Job is faithful and would remain so even if he lost all his blessings because I see all future possibilities. Who are you to challenge my ability to discern the truly faithful from the unfaithful? Shall I be unjust to be just? I won't be tested by an impure being like you nor allow your filthy hands to dare touch my faithful one." The host openly says, "Stop trying to demand the 'whys' ". Not good enough for most of the new generation. And if you can't answer that but only say, "have faith", they will continue to turn away.
