I have livestock. Chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, etc. I have often run into a flock or herd and had to single out one animal to catch with a net. After doing this on a regular basis for many years now, I will say, these dudes are freaking amazing. That is absolutely difficult to do, even with animals that are regularly fed and cared for by humans. I can't even imagine being able to do this with wild animals. These guys do an amazing job.

Not to downplay this effort by the OCN team in any way. The cameras used are GoPros which have a very wide angle lense which makes the seals appear further away than they really are. None the less, it is still an awesome feat of team work, strength and dedication to find, capture and treat these seals. Pretty sure none of the OCN has the desire to go to the gym for a workout after work…. 😉

It seems the seals most affected by the entanglements, with the most pain, tend to realize the intentions way better than seals who have grown accustomed to it and are able to live with it somehow.

They probably use binoculars to see seals acting different but even then i would still struggle to find the right seal

Yes! They do use binoculars but keeping them insight amidst the throng of bodies is amazing. Edit: the yes is agreement.

They look so funny running top speed on their flippers. What beautiful animals. They must be so scared and confused but I bet it’s a relief to be free of the entanglement. You guys are really doing a great thing here.

watching these makes me think of a 1st person video game. heh... maybe yall should look into getting game designers to make a seal rescue game with proceeds of game sale going to help fun your work. I'm sure there's some group that would be willing to do it.

I think when they took the hook out of that seals mouth, a rush of relief came over the baby seal and was like amazed for couple seconds. lol

8:09 My eyes brimmed with tears when I saw the seal just looked back at their Saviors after removing the hook in his mouth. If seals could talk, he will say "Thank you!"
