These 1x prisms definitely have a fish eye effect and some magnification that I just can’t get over. It messes with me every time I use one and I much prefer an ACSS red dot.

The ergonomics of the Ace are the reasons why I held off until the 2nd generation. It came with good mods that you had to pay out of pocket with the first generation. I thought for a long time which high end rifle to buy before I concluded that the Ace gen 2 was going to be my favorite

Interesting on the ammo part. I have around 60ish rounds of silver bear laying around and ran into the same issues. RAS 69gr and Sil Bear are definitely no-go the 545 ace. However, I have no issues running Academy/Barnaul, and Wolf 60gr. Great video as always.

What a sweet little rig. The 1X prisms not so much. It has all the drawbacks of a magnified optic with none of the benefit. Some red dots will not have issues with astigmatism. I have a holosun with the circle dot eotech type reticle and it’s not blurry at all. Also i have an old insight MRDS that is blurry indoors but when i go shoot it’s a perfect dot. All sights will vary but it is possible to find one that works for your eyes

I actually have an Arsenal SLR 105 UR for the longest time that I’ve contemplated doing SBR paperwork, but to avoid the headache of waiting 6+ months and not being able to cross state lines without additional hassle I decided to pull it from original receiver and get an 80% receiver to remanufacture it as a pistol, kinda crazy I know 😝

I run into the same problems as you did with the silver bear 545 It’s the only ammo that’s ever caused any misfires in my PSA ak74 with over 4000 rounds of everything else from wolf to barnual to 7n6 surplus Everything runs great through that gun except silver bear

I’ll try to run some silver bear through mine tomorrow now that it’s cut down to 13” and get back to you. I ran about a case through it when it was 16” with no issue, but haven’t ran any of it since chopping it. Everything else has ran flawlessly. I have the same brake, KNS piston, and have the ALG extra power hammer spring. Identical to yours with the exception of the delete kit, OG stock, and the optic set up.

Different generation I know, but I have a old century army galil I bought new in box had never been shot just been stored with all paperwork and ziptied tags still on it. Reliably jams EVERY 4th rd with steel, runs flawlessly with brass.

@@KLAYCO47 so out of 30rds, I didn’t have a single issue. 30rd isn’t necessarily substantial proof that it won’t choke up on it though lol I’ll run a few more mags within the next few days and will update if I do run into an issue. I’ll also note that I have the KNS piston closed fully. I actually thought I had it at 5 clicks open since chopping the barrel, but I guess not. If you have the means, I’d spec the gas port (you can access it with standard pin gauges from the gas block) to see what size it is. I had FTF issues with my ACE when running some new EG’s that I had before chopping the barrel that was eventually remedied by removing some thickness from the buffer. While trying to figure out what was going on though, I was told the port was supposed to be .074, yet mine was .071. I ended up opening it up to around .074-.075. It didn’t fix the issue I was having at the time, but if the factory 13” Ace has a smaller port than .074-.075, that could be why mine runs it fine. I can’t imagine mine running it reliably with a smaller port. The casings were going maybe 5 ft.

No stuck cases here Klay, but I've had some light primer strikes using 60g Tula. Going to a heavy hammer spring if it happens again. I like that you SBR'd it but I prefer the 5" RSR rail, though I get why you went 10" for competition. I've dubbed my 13" 545 Ace a Gen 1.5 because I've installed the Gen 2 Ace brace and polymer lower. Factory handguard is on it until RSR gets the 5" rails back in stock. Totally agree on the ALG trigger - all my Ace's have it! KNS pistons too. Too bad I can't upload a pic here!

Your diopter knob adjustment besides focusing will change depth perception. Try adjusting the diopter to get the magnification seeming exactly 1x even if that's not the exact sharpest. If not the sharpest it's the eyes or glasses not the optic. Really enjoy your videos, thank you.

I have the 16" 5.45 Ace that was cut down to 12.5. So far I haven't had any issues with silverbear or wolf. That is all I've run in it. Not sure about the 13" version.

The PA 1x microprism has almost unlimited eye relief you need to move you optic forward on the reciever the same spot as the ejection port. The ammo is just bad luck good video.

pro tip: if you're shooting your mic is gonna automatically drop the level so if you talk immediately afterwards your voice will be super quiet, just give it a sec to readjust the level

Like the carbine. I’d tend to attribute the malfs to ammo. Problem; you’ll never be able to replicate those issues at the range. They’ll only pop up at a match; if your equipment is ever gonna choke and puke- it’ll be in a match.

I tried running the PA cyclops on my Galil Ace pistol. Its nice but it's idiosyncrasies didnt make it the red dot killer I thought it would be. I still have it in case all hell breaks loose and I need an optic that doesnt need batteries....although more likely than not I'm probably dead in situations like that before the batteries on my Aimpoints die out lol.

Stuck case was really 69gr RAS ammo (does it in other guns too) Light primer strikes came from a weak hammer Spring

Maybe check your fire control pin retainers are on. If not, perhaps the trigger is causing the issues. E-clips work really well.

Can you do a review on a full auto authentic Czech made VZ58? I had one awhile back and had to sell it unfortunately, They are very unique! LRBHO on last round, Bolt holds open when changing mags until you manipulate the button to close the bolt, charging another round. You can top load SKS 10rd stripper clips too! (You said Stripper! Lol). They shoot at 900 rounds per minute vs standard AK which is around 600. It would be awesome fun with a drum mag, one handed, with a stogie! The main reason for selling it was it was really hard to find parts for, and the trigger was plastic and awful compared to AK’s. Maybe you could find one that you could modify? At one point I was also going to take a Romanian 75rd drum and convert it to work in a VZ58! Make my dreams come true please! 😁👍. Keep up the great work brother!!!

Also, it has a short stroke gas piston system which is why the rate of fire is faster. It has a milled receiver that contributes to better accuracy, along with the quality barrel. Mine had a cold hammer forged, chrome lined barrel made at Lothar Walther in Germany and was striker fired not hammer which is super unique for a battle rifle! Very Cool Rifle, and very accurate for being as old as it was, and also shooting the infamous 7.62x39mm!!! I cry myself to sleep every night for having to sell it against my will! 😭

Hell nah. I've been shooting mattress for years I've never seen a benefit to buying expensive brass when most of the targets you're shooting are 100 yd and in, steel case is more than effective and away more cost effective. Plus there are no brass case options in this calendar
