My vet tells me though she was skeptical at first, she says I should keep on giving my kitty raw because her health has improved dramatically. Her coat, her dental health especially. She’s a rescue cat and when I got her her coat and teeth and digestive health was a hot mess. She had conjunctivitis. Now her digestion is fantastic. No more farts, no more diarrhea and rarely vomits. Conjunctivitis is gone. Her coat is glossy and shiny. She had a few broken teeth when I got her that after a long time finally had to be pulled. But otherwise her teeth are fine. She no longer scarfs and bards her meals cuz she has to chew them. And I notice she really enjoys the meaty chunks cuz she eats that first then goes back for the raw goat kefir or homemade bone broth I make for her. She especially enjoys the small bones I give her like chicken wings and the knuckles from chicken leg and thigh bones and bones from smaller birds like Cornish game hen. She eats when part of the bone she wants and leaves the rest for me to clean up. It doesn’t take long to feed her cuz I keep a cat feeding station set up and her meal ingredients are prepackaged more or less ahead of time, which only takes an hour to make her meals for a month or two. It’s an investment of time for her that is to me well worth her health. I mean I spend at least an hour per day preparing meals for myself. One hour a month for her is not a chore. Every meal takes me maybe 5 minutes or less to make. I add hot water to her food cuz she loves that. Maybe a tablespoon per meal. I keep a hot water pot ready. I use it to make my morning tea as well. Thanks for these reminders to keep me motivated to keep her on this healthy routine. I do keep some frozen raw food in the freezer for convenience if I run out of time to make her food, tho I still supplement it with whatever I have on hand, tin of sardines, goat kefir, egg yolk, my green mix I make for her that includes kelp and wheatgrass and powdered green lipped mussel, etc, and chunks of meat and bones for her to gnaw on. Still only takes less than five mins to do that. And she’s well worth it.

For those who are still unsure about raw feeding: Do it. In the long run, your dog will be so much healthier and happier than ever before. I’ve been raw feeding my dog for about 2 years and I’ve never looked back. You WILL notice an amazing and dramatic change in coat health, energy, poop, digestion, and mood.

Yes to all of these! I’ve been raw feeding for 5 years now and my 6 year old wolfdog is super playful, has tons of energy, a vibrant coat, clean teeth, is the perfect weight, poops one relatively small poop each day, and is excited for her food every single day! When people guess her age they usually guess that she’s about 2 years old. Her vet (who isn’t a fan of raw feeding) compliments her health every visit and tells me to keep doing what I’m doing. I’ve learned so much (including from your channel) and still thoroughly enjoy prepping her food every week!

My moms old cat Salsa passed because his kidneys disintegrated. When the vet showed my dad his kidney, it was so full of stones it looked like a hackeysack. Two reasons for this. He ate a melamine contaminated brand for a short time, and he ate poor quality kibble all his life. Rip lil genius

Cats are better off with the cheapest canned food compared to the best Kibble. Of course Raw is the best but even just canned food will help cats avoid kidney failure.

We have been feeding raw for about 6 years. Our dogs had no problem going straight from dry food to raw. Our senior cats were not as easy and took some time to transition. Since starting we have a new kitten, she came from a stable and was fed a mixture of dry food and mice, when I got her at 12 weeks I only gave her the option of raw and she had no problem diving in. I'll be getting another kitten soon, he is being raised on high quality tinned food (specified meat, no added sugar, grain, fillers etc), I'm hoping he will transition as easily onto raw and not be funny about the textures. As an aside, we have bred and raised litters of puppies on raw and they are all thriving. 😁

I've been feeding raw food my German Shepherd for six weeks now. I'm doing it for his health reasons. He's only two and has spent half of his life taking Prednisone for his skin allergies and itchiness. He seems to be doing fine for now, although it's too soon to know if it's working. I watched a lot of your videos before I started, and I'm greartful you're sharing with us all your knowledge. However, I must say, at least in my case and in my country, DIY raw food is pretty more expensive than feeding your dog, even with super premium kibble. Maybe in the States, you're luckier in this sense. On the other hand, again, at least in my case, it was fun the first couple of weeks. Apart from that, it's a huge commitment, a great amount of time and effort spent, and a lot of logistic decisions. Where to buy, what to buy, how to prepare, how to freeze, freezer space itself. It limits your life even more. For example, if you need to travel and your dog, cat, or whatever can't go with you, it's something to manage. The canine hotels I know are not raw food friendly. I don't regret my decision by now, my dog is like my kid, and I hope for him to have a better health and a longer life. But raw feeding for sure requires a lot, and it needs to be an informed and thoughtful decision.

I feed my dog pre-prepared raw food with additional bones to chew. I'm able to get a huge variety of DAF raw food boxes from my local raw food shop that is really cheap, portioned out (80 muscle, 10 bones, 10 offal, some are 70 muscle and 10 vegetables, some are 75% muscle 15% bone), the organs in each portion are labelled. And they are incredibly varied, allowing me to get hold of organs I can't otherwise find, like testicles, spleen, eyeballs etc, along with the usual liver, kidney, heart, lung and tripe. The species are also incredibly varied, with all of the domestic livestock as well as fish, venison, grouse, pheasant, wild boar, rabbit and horse. I also give them big meaty bones to chew on to clean their teeth and keep them occupied, as well as whole sprats :D

I was a skeptic of raw food at first but after going through a cat nutrition rabbit hole after one of my cats was diagnosed with ckd, I make my own cat food and I was able to transition all my cats to raw a few days ago and I do not regret it at all. The benefits have been phenomenal. My only question is what’s the best method of warming up the food? A simple question I know but out of curiosity I looked it up and well, there a lot of conflicting opinions on the topic.

Do not microwave. I warm up bone broth or water in a pot until almost boiling then I poor over the cold food and mix. It becomes warm or room temperature.

i warm my cats food containers up in a warm water bath. I fill up the sink until the containers are covered, add something heavy on the top so they won't float. I let it sit in there for about 10-15min.

We feed our almost 10 year old Dobermann male raw (he has been raw for about 6 years now), he eats the same food as he always did, including joint support. Unless he develops a specific health problem I'll continue in this way, he is totally fit and healthy (he has an annual health check including blood work, heart ultra sound and 24hr ECG as part of a university study focused on Dobermann cardiac problems). The only thing that may be a problem is getting them to eat the raw food, especially senior cats. You may have to ease them into it. When we changed from dry food to raw our dogs didn't even appear to notice 😄, but the cats took a bit longer, eating around the raw food or just picking at it. Good luck!

I used to feed my old dog (before I knew about this shop) a mixture of liver, kidney, heart, kefi, mince and chicken wings. It doesn't have to be in perfect proportions, don't get overconfused by KZbinrs making it really complicated. Look up Dr Ian Billinghurst, he started the raw food trend and gives some solid simple advice.

Picked up a bag of Instinct Raw for our boys to try since we're not in a position to make a full switch yet. . .one of them happily eats it. . .the other eats around the bits presently. Hoping that doesn't carry over to when we do a switch to pre-made down the line.

U can calculate it through ☠️ it might be a bit of a headache but then u have the proof x) The canned food here costs around 3- 4€ per kilogram and I would need around 1,5 - 2 kg for all my cats per day ☠️ If I give them raw meat and I only buy things on discount/cheap meat I'm on an average of 3 - 4€ per day bc they also don't even need as much food 🤣 it really depends tho where and what u r buying 😅 I know one shop who sells pre-made raw and there the kilogram costs around 1,99 - 2€, which is still cheaper than the canned food for some reason ☠️ but another shop sells pre-made raw for 6€/kg ☠️

Do you have to “DeWorm” your dogs when feeding a Raw diet? I’ve been doing a lot of research… I have switched to feeding about 25% kibble & homemade (gently cooked) meals. But I’m still confused on the topic of DeWorming. Thanks!

TBH, that kinda depends a lot on ur dogs digestive system 😅 I Only deworm her once a year (she loves hunting mice... And every now and then she gets one apparently), a friend never in her 14 years ever dewormed her dog and she's still fine as hell 😅 on the other side I also know a person who constantly struggles with parasites... 😅

0:22 actually about that yeah dogs should be eating meat but also safe vegetables and fruits since their omnivores now since we made them evolved to eat vegetables and fruits. 4:59 damn really? I should switch to a raw or whole prey diet as soon as possible then it sucks that they get compliments notoriously you would think it be famously getting compliments but the stigma of raw or whole prey diets though

I recently started feeding my 13 year old cat a raw diet. She took to it immediately but I assume it’s also cuz I feed her wet food and kibble before. I started with a pre made raw food from Wild Coast Raw and wonder if anyone knows if it’s a good choice?

I have a yorkie with recent pancreatitis but I'm afraid to switch to raw because Im not sure how to. She needs to eat low fat, but canned prescription food is not really an option in my country, even tho they are prescription, brands only carry the normal version and not the low fat. Is there a way to feed low fat and raw?
@MR-nn2fz
@MR-nn2fz Жыл бұрын
I have to add extra fat to the meals of my cats because most meats are pretty lean. In my experience it's easier to feed too lean than too fatty with raw You could start easing into raw feeding and lower the overall fat content of the meals by feeding 10-20 percent lean muscle meats and 80-90 percent of the food that your dog is used to. By keeping the meat portion under 10-20 percent you don't need to supplement because the supplements in the commercial food are usually on the higher end.
