What's also amazing, is that Bruce's solution to every problem is to over-engineer the system to near-perfection, and it's just stunning how every next iteration is more and more technically impressive.

The first video of the Golf they showed from 5 years ago, I got to see in person. I was at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. I was there with my dad who was driving the Rainmaker WRX (which was featured on TRC). He mentioned there was a Golf with TWO ENGINES! It was an amazing day. One ill never forget. Thank you guys for that 🙏

Bruce is clearly far above them within racing, knowledge, building his custom vehicle ! Bruce is clearly focused upon more serious racing and not antics. Perhaps Brent, Jaime PFI Speed could be some help and certainly within Colorado; If they do not already have connections. All The Best, Sincerely

This car never fails to remind me of the "silliest" VW I ever saw online. Back..maybe 20 years or more, someone posted a green old Scirocco (Mk1 or 2?) from a European car magazine. The car was gutted, caged and had two superbike motors in the hatch, one driving each wheel (somehow linked via throttle management?). I believe they may have even been Hayabusa motors. But picture a 1500-1600 pound Scirocco with 11-13,000 RPM at the rear wheels. If you dig really hard you can find one blurry picture of it from an old VwVortex post...but the car has never left my mind. Just sounds like an absolute hilarious thing to build/drive.

This gets me thinking about, if he has a kid, how significant it will be for him to pass this down to them one day. At that point you're not getting a car that your Dad owned. You're getting the physical manifestation of decades worth of his life. Aspects of himself are ingrained into the very core of this vehicle. Very few things in life today are able to compare to that.

This was me back in the days. I had many built 16v's, mk2's, Rocco's, etc. then got into the VR, swapped many into mk2. Love them, not just for the sound, but the torque. Big turbo like a 35R and up on a VR definitely needs hardened straight cut gears in the trans. 3rd loves to shear from all the torque in general. Been there 👍

Actually Bruce clearly drew from others to develop his unique VW, VR12, "Forrest Gump" drag racing vehicle along with his earlier mini, circle track VW racing vehicle. This is not actually 'outside the box' thinking, rather applying proper thinking, assistance from other with proper knowledge, thus implementing these together within his unique VW.

The next step will be to control the springs and dampers first on the rear axle and then on the front axle. The car has more than enough power, but putting this power on the road is the high school of acceleration. So if you first pump up the back of the car when starting, then accelerate and allow the rear axle to deflect in a controlled manner, then you can transfer a lot more power, have better control over the car and can lower the body at higher speeds to have less wind resistance. Up to around 160 km/h or 100 miles, almost all of the power is on the rear axle. From this speed onwards, the aerodynamics begin to give you enough contact pressure on the road. The better the car grips the road, the higher the power transmission. In the 1970s there were cars in Formula 1 that had extra brooms under the sides of the cars to increase the negative pressure under the cars. Theoretically, with this negative pressure they could have driven on the ceiling of a tunnel without falling down.

I love that the speed shop was onboard with his plan. All too often you come across people in the business tell you 'nyah don't bother, just do this or that' related to things that already exists and kits that are out there. Them accepting the challenge though is a way of pushing the envelope further from what is already known (and to a certain extent tried and proven) and push it to new areas and forms that wouldn't be reached through conventional means. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but speed shops like that can change history :D
