Amin Baba God!), but you should have seen old school older Naija folks discouraging that idea even though it is becoming popular world-wide as I am also a minimalist myself...

@@tayokarate what are you talking about. Trailers are cheaper than buying a house. That's why people buy it especially if they already have a land. A double wide trailer with 5 bedroom and 3 bath with kitchen is half the price of a house. Some manufactured homes even look better. It has nothing to do with overcrowding in western countries. It's all about preference and price.

With a quarter plot of land and a few extra naira, you can easily become a home owner in any part of Nigeria. And I find it remarkably interesting that some are already on this. We need to help the future generations by conserving the shrinking resources we have got.

This is great we really need to start investing more in affordable housing in Nigeria because the average Nigerian does not earn enough to live in all this expensive real estate craziness that is going on in Nigeria at the moment. Plus I am all for recycling and reusing materials. This looks like a good alternative to brick houses
@henry5118

Voila!!! The comment I've been looking for. I think there's already more than enough high end real estate in Nigeria, the real Nigerians need homes too. Excellent video btw.
@Danorous
@Danorous 3 жыл бұрын
Bcos you don't earn enough does mean the real estate is crazy. There are thousands of people buying them
@nkjv12
@nkjv12 3 жыл бұрын
@@Danorous Yes thousands of people are buying it and what percentage of the Nigerian population does that equate to. All I'm saying is there should be a balance between luxury apartments and more affordable accommodations, because if it costs so much millions to buy this houses, for you to get a reasonable return the rental price will have to be very high. Don't really care about the thousands that can afford it more worried that a lot of Nigerians live in very inhabitable conditions which continues to result in mass spread of diseases. This is something I am really passionate about and really want to do once I have saved up enough money and move back to Nigeria. If there is anything I have learnt about Nigeria this year is that we Nigerians must be the change we want to see because we have clearly seen that if we wait for the government to do all this things we will be waiting for the next 200 years.
@henry5118
@henry5118 3 жыл бұрын
@@Danorous Well, how many Nigerians are there? 200m? If only a few thousands can afford homes, is that good enough for you? Why can't we work on housing solutions for the lowest income groups among us? Isn't that what great societies are known for?

Tiny houses are great, cheap and often quick to build. However, I think building a container house in Lagos would prove very expensive on the long run. Lagos is hot, and building with steal is magnifying that heat, therefore you would need to constantly run ACs to keep the temperature down. You see how the Architect himself is sweating in the home? I think wood house is the way to go if you want to build compact homes in Lagos.

7 million might seem like a pretty small amount but it isn't for any average earner in Nigeria. It would've been good to create a local estate with these and call them ' affordable housing" especially for government, professional and local business workers with basic salaries and scrap all those ugly shacks that we see that looks horrible from the sky view. Wishful thinking....cos that will never happen in Nigeria.

This is beautiful. I love the concept and the design. It's just like the structures we have here in the US called "The Trailer Houses" very minimalist, nice space utilization, and very good for the single life. Oh its movable too, so you could Live anywhere with it. Just like you're living in the RV or having RV trip. Very great job.

@@tobiscookingdiary That’s just one of the problems, and then add the chemicals that are used to make those containers. It’s just not worth it. A traditional house might cost a bit more in the beginning, but it will last longer and have a better resale value.
