My wife is Brazilian, and she has that positive outlook on people like you. Even when someone does something to hurt her, she's not vindictive about it. Her attitude is more of, " God will punish them." As an American, we tend to hate someone who has hurt us very fast. The Brazilians tend to brush it off better, or make some excuse for the person's behavior, especially if it's a member of their family. Don't mess with their family, no matter how wrong they are.

As a native-born Chinese, I would like to answer your question about what Chinese would do in their daily life. 1.Chinese don't have too much touchy feeling,parents seldom show their love when they are speaking to children,but their would express their love in their actions. 2.Chinese may use cultury like chopsticks when they are having meals,but we don't use any cultury when we have fast food,we would wear plastic gloves when we having chicken legs and wings to prevent cooking oils from such things. 3.Chinese would not take mutiple shower except in summer,if you live in the southern China,you will take two showers a day because it is very uncomfortable to stand the high temperature, but in the northern China,seldom people would take multiple showers a day. 4.Chinese people are always musclinity especially the man, most of them tend to rule and control their wifes when they are married,but I am really hate such a custom although I am a man too, I think this "traditional"suctom should be removed in the future. 5.Chinese man are always dress casually in the public, they don't care so much about their appearance,but girls would care much about what they look like when they are out of door,they would make up for an hour or more and make most of man feel impatient. 6.Chinese people don't eat too much fast food as our staple food,we tend to have meals like rices and many dishes on the table,but now most of the young people like fast food as their snacks,I am afraid that they would become fatter in the future. 7.Chinese don't have much coffee a day, but we have so much tea as our drinks,we would drink tea before we have meals,we would drink tea when we chat with our families,tea is our favorite drink and many Chinese tend to drink much tea in their daily life. 8.Chinese always study in a university far away from home,but we would live in a dormitory like borading school in western countries.We are not allowed to rent houses outside because school forced us to live in the dorm,that 's so different from western countries because most of the student there are living in an independent apartment. 9.Chinese would not focus on your nationality because most of us are from one country, but they would ask you which province are you come from,they would listen to your accent to distinguish if you are the local person.I have been discriminated by other province people when I went tourism because I can't speak the accent like them. 10.Chinese are not a positive nationality,we always feel negative when we see something bad happen on us,we are not a rich country,we still have so many people live in poverty especially in the rural area.Many people are always worried about whether they can having a meal and living in a stable place tomorrow,so we have a habit to stock anything like money,paper,salt and so on.I love this habit because it can save many thins when we are needed. Sorry for my poor English,Thank you for your patient to read such a long comment.

I'm American and live in the northeastern interior of the hot, dry, desert-like sertão (the outback or backlands) in a very small, impoverished town in Alagoas, surrounded by the unique cowboy-and-cattle culture. I also used to live deep in the Amazon jungle on the Rio Negro in Barcelos. Similar to the sertão, the "ribeirinho" culture of the river people is also entirely unique to their area and development. Nevertheless, much of what you said in the video holds true even in these widely different cultures. I love Brazil and its vastly distinct cultures, cuisines, music, and habits. If I didn't I would not have moved here to live out my life. Nevertheless, I don’t tolerate the gross lack of punctuality whenever I am in control of a meeting or appointment. My friends and associates know this about me and must deal with it. In general, I find Brazilians kind, generous, affectionate fun loving people. I am late middle-aged and alone, so my Brazilian friends, of whom I have many in four states, are my family and care for me greatly. The list of positive attributes is long and varied. My two big objections besides the gross lack of punctuality are the loud volume that many Brazilians use in public, and their mendacity, their deception or falsehood or divergence from absolute truth in order to avoid offending you or loosing you as a customer or client. It is infuriating, a waste of time, and serves no decent purpose. BUT they adamantly believe mendacity to save another's feelings is not a bad trait. They don't comprehend why I am so at odds with this ingrained part of their culture.

I am a Belarusian while my boyfriend is a Brazilian. To begin with, I am not a "typical" representative of my nation. I have always felt different from most of the people 🤔 However, there are clearly some cultural differences that my eye caught. The biggest one would be my bf's positive approach to things in life. As a Belarusian, I tend to look at the negative side of things mostly. Since the 2020's elections this tendency worsened. Thanks to my bf, I am changing, and, consequently, it affects my emotional state greatly.

This was very helpful, thanks! Here are what I think would be New Zealand's answers if anyone is interested :) : 1. New Zealanders aren't touchy feely, we like quite a bit of space when we talk. When we have lunch at work, it's very normal to eat by yourself, and not even talk to your colleagues even if they are sitting in the same lunch room! We like each other, we just like to have our time alone too. I suppose, the lunch break is your chance to be by yourself :') . We don't hug or kiss our partners very much in public. In fact, kissing your partner in public would probably be quire unusual. We would probably sit opposite someone at a restaurant because we like to be able to see them easily when we talk. Plus if you are eating, do you really want to be that close, if someone can see food in your teeth etc :') 2. We use our hands for takeaways. Latin Americans are very hygienic, we are more lazy :') We don't use serviettes either. 3. We have a shower once a day. We only brush our teeth two times a day. Again, Latin Americans are much more hygienic! 4. At a party, we just say one hello to the group, with a wave. If it was a small group, say 2 people, you might hug them. Hugging isn't that common though, for example, you might only hug a friend or colleague if you hadn't seen them for quite a long time (eg a few months). 5. Older people still believe in gender roles to some extent. For example, its assumed that the women will make the salads for a party, and the man will do the barbecue. But many younger people reject gender stereotypes. 6. We are quite lazy in terms of appearance, compared to most of Latin america and Australia for example, we use less make up and spend less time on our hair. :') 7. In the cities, yes we have fast food, because we have food from all over the world due to immigrants. For example, Indian food, Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc. Our rural towns are very, very small, with perhaps only 2 or so shops, so they won't eat much takeaways - if anything maybe burgers, fish and chips or Chinese. 8. We drink a lot of coffee!! In particular, cappuccinos and flat whites. We are quite fussy about our coffee! We get frustrated overseas with the coffee that is available :') 9. We normally move out of home for university. We live in halls or in a flat with friends. 10. We unfortunately focus a lot on career accomplishments in life, not happiness. I think this is one of the things that causes high rates of mental health problems as people pressure themselves too much and expect too much in life. Nothing is ever good enough, you are always thinking about the future, not enjoying the moment. 11. We are quite punctual. If you arrive 10 minutes late for an event, you would apologise. 12. We're moderately emotive. Not as much as US Americans or Latin Americans. 13. I think we would be happy with the answer, "British" when someone had a non traditional look for a British person. But for other places where diversity is less common, we might want to know about the persons ethnicity. In New Zealand, if someone asks you where you are from, it is to show interest in you. Some people do believe however that this question should be avoided, or done very carefully, so as to not cause offence. This is because we have a lot of diversity in New Zealand, and there are many people of different ethnicities who are all still New Zealanders. I would be very careful about asking someone their ethnicity because I wouldn't want them to think I was implying they weren't just as much a New Zealander than me.

Nice video . Obrigado. Eu gosto muito this :) In my language app when i spoke to people from brasil the level of excitement was out of this world . I sang an old portuguese song ( i am learning for 2 months portuguese ) and i felt like a rockstar hearing the excitement from other side . In india generally we say nice or very good etc . I also spoke to other people from brasil and most of them are positive and can feel the enthusiasm even though we talk on phone . The language is so musical . Best wishes . new subscriber here . Obrigado

This is a relief to know about the cutlery. I am American but I think I was Brazilian in a past life, because I cannot bring myself to eat with my hands. I ask for knife and fork even for sandwiches or fast food. I simply do not want food smells and oils on my hands. I am down with the Brazilians.

Brazilian parents have such a bigger role in their children's lives than their American or European counterparts! It drives me insane! You are supposed to call your mother everyday, to visit her every Sunday, to tell her everything. I guess I was just raised on too much American television and never quite adapted to that lol Also my whole family finds it absolutely weird that I moved out at age 22 while still single. My cousins are 30-something and still live with their parents, and their mothers have such control over their lives.

Qual o problema disso!

Brazilians always try to keep very close to their families, even after married. Family is an important thing in Brazilian society and when someone get married, it´s more like two families getting together than a simply a new family coming to existence. Of course when kids get older, families tend to distance from each other as the new family grows. As for living with their parents until their 30´s.. that´s actually an economic problem. Housing is very, very, very expensive in Brazil and it´s just cheaper to keep living with your family until you get married and get someone to share the bills. Living alone is no easy task due to the low income this country has. It´s pratically impossible to get a job that pays enough for someone to live alone before finishing college and getting some years of profesional experience.

I'm a long distance relationship with a Brazilian girl and I noticed the majority of these when I visited her in Porto Alegre. The first time I watched her eat pizza with a knife and fork, I was pretty horrified. The only one of those I definitely didn't experience was the fruit and veg - I eat tons of vegetables, whereas my girlfriend's family seemed to JUST. EAT. MEAT. Every meal had so much meat and rice, and they ate dinner at like 9pm. Could not get used to it no matter how much I tried.
@quackgarage95514 жыл бұрын
I was annoyed about the knife and fork on the pizza too, but once you see all the different flavors they have (and the fact that they usually eat it rodizio style) it makes so much more sense to use a knife and fork. My favorite one was beef tenderloin with garlic and loads of mozzarella cheese, simply amazing. They do know how to make pizzas in the South and Sao Paulo, their style is as good as the ones we see in NY and even Italy. And well, that's Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul for you. My father was born there and along with Uruguay and Argentina, Rio Grande do Sul has one of the best (if not the best) beef in the world and a HUGE bbq and meat culture that goes as far as the early 1800's. In fact, Rio Grande do Sul was an independent country for 10 years and beef tax was the main reason that led to the secession war with the Empire of Brazil back then. They eat the best Hereford and Angus beef that you can imagine on a daily basis and since they have a huge meat culture, almost everything sums up to beef, that's why they even put tenderloin on their pizza ;)

Really nice video! As a Brazilian too, I already was aware of some points, but some others are completely new to me. I never thought about how we tend to use cutlery to eat stuff that could be treated as fingerfood or simply holded by our own hands in other countries. I could add the habit of Brazilians usually spent more money on superflual things and usually don’t save money for the future, as a not so good habit. Maybe this have some relation to the perspective of simply be happy instead of planning on achieving more goals in life.

I'm brazilian and here where I live, I never saw anyone using knife and fork for a burger. And people will laugh if someone does that. But for pizzas, this is real, we use them. What she said about couple behaviours is true. Actually, brazilian portuguese does not have a word for PDA (this doesn't exist here! hahahaha). It's an expression I learned in my english course. We do shower more than once. Me, for example, one when I wake up (before breakfast) and the other about 7-8 p.m before dinner. Sometimes we also takes 3 showers a day. That's beacause, you know... sometimes temperature get 30°C-40°C all day long and you're always sweaty.

I’m not British, I’m American. Ants I fallen for a Brazilian woman. An amazing woman. Start off as just a friend, but I’ve started to develop feelings for her. Doing my best to learn about the Brazilian culture, how Brazilian women view The world and life. What a slight not only to date them but to just know them completely. And of course America is a massive country. There are various American cultures. I’m not talking about the difference between white and Latino or African-American or Asian American. I’m literally talking about New England culture, West Coast culture, New York culture, Texas culture which is actually a little different from the rest of southern culture. And within southern culture of Texas culture you have Creole culture. I mean it could be a little crazy even for us. I’ve come to see that there are a lot of similarities between me and her. Not just culturally in the way we do things, but in the way I’ve grown and Evolved as a man. Of course, even though she’s my friend she does live in Soa Paulo. I’ve known her for years. And the truth is, I’m not attached to any place in the world. I got to go see her.
