I never took HRT. Just felt it is a stage in life, like puberty (and they don't advise you to go on some medication then) that you just have to get through to the "other side". I am glad I never took it. But to each his own. I am so glad that you are still doing well and that those 14 months are behind you. You look incredible.

You are so right about Dr's knowing your family history. Of course I do not know the specifics of your case but I am very surprised that you were put on HRT with your Mom's bout with estrogen related breast cancer. You have to do your own research and the worst part is one excellent Dr will say something completely different from another excellent Dr. This is when I turn it over to God for His leading. Appreciate your honesty.

I agree with what you said about her doctor putting her on that. I have learned from going through breast cancer too we must research on our own as well. Noone has to deal with the repercussions but us.
@Melissa552 ай бұрын
I agree but in the end, I guess I have myself to blame. And I've talked to him about this, but in a way I blame Doug a tiny bit. He kept telling me the research was that HRT didn't cause breast cancer and it was so beneficial to me. But no, I can't even blame him. I willingly changed that patch twice a week for a fresh one. But I wish I had stopped it sooner. Take care and thank you!
@leek79872 ай бұрын
@@Melissa55 Do not blame yourself, we do the best that we can with what we are told by those who are supposed to know. Fact is, even with tons of personal research, there are still conflicting reports. Your situation is not a surprise to God and He is using you in a great way to help so many with your open heart and honesty. You are truly an inspiration.

Breast cancer rates in women on HRT are the same as breast cancer rates in women, not on HRT. Being on HRT doesn't increase your chances of breast cancer. Breast cancer happens, unfortunately. But in the same rates in both populations. Read Esteogen Matters, it is an amazing book about the topic. For most women, HRT benefits far outweigh the risks! Benefits: improved cardiovascular health, bone health and neurological health (dementia etc).
Great video-how kind and honest of you to share your journey to help/comfort others who may be struggling with a scary diagnosis. The world need more Melissa’s.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and during my mastectomy (only one side and no reconstruction) the surgeon found I also have Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (cancer of the immune system). I greatly appreciate Melissa’s respect for her and all doctors. I’ve heard so many people say doctors just want to keep us sick and want our money. They fail to remember doctor’s family members and doctors themselves die of cancer! I appreciate that Melissa talks about the uncomfortable things to talk about and encourages being okay with talking to our doctors about those things. She is correct- they have seen it all and there is nothing to be embarrassed or shy about. Thank you Melissa!

Melissa, I appreciate that you shared your experience. I am currently experiencing hot flashes since I am within the first few months of not having a period. I have been taking Veozah because like you, I have been told I can’t take hrt. The manufacturer provides a discount on their website. The first month was $0 and the refill was $30. I notice it working though not at 100%. And it seems to wear off after maybe 15 hours or so. But, it’s just been a month. In addition, my gynecologist recommended a supplement, Thermella, which I ordered. The plan is to take both. Maybe eliminate the Veozah at some point. Liver testing is required while taking Veozah and if the supplement works almost as well, I’d rather not take the medication. I appreciate hearing your perspective. I don’t know anyone else who has had a similar enough experience to my own that I have been able to ask about hrt or menopause symptoms.

God bless you for doing these videos. I’m sure you’re helping a lot of women. I had a hysterectomy at 40. My gynecologist put me on HRT. I think I did it for a year. I was too scared to stay on it. My mother had breast cancer & I know everything she went through. I read that hormone replacement can feed tumors. The doctor wasn’t happy but she understood. That vasculitis looks pretty nasty. Glad you found another medication. Even though you can curse like a sailor it’s still hard to talk about privates. Tammy is about the only woman who tells it like it is. I’m just thrilled you’re doing well. I will just keep you on my prayer list. Prayers do work. There’s a good show on BritBox called Sherwood. The second season has just dropped. It’s a really good show with a mystery. Love you, Lucy

We had some of the same journey, Lucy. I was in my 40's too when I had my hysterectomy and that's when I started on the HRT. I used the patch, as I kind of felt it might be less harmful if it was on my skin rather than taking a pill. And I don't know if it contributed to the cancer. There is no way to know. Oh I love Sherwood!!!! Going to check it out, as well as Murders in Building!!! Thank you Lucy and love being sent to you.
