I love your videos, I’ve been on a minimalism binge for like the last 8 years and I’m so tired of most minimalism channels but yours are still interesting and nice to watch. You don’t beat the same ideas into the ground and a lot of minimalism channels have, sort of, an ego to them. I appreciate your real down to earth personality.

I like The Minimalists channel but I just feel like I overthink everything after watching their videos! I'm just trying to do what I feel is right for me. I have a way to go but I've been in this rut before and found some clarity.. I enjoy this channel too, down to earth and relatable :)

For the toys: I got a great tip from somewhere on youtube when my kids where little and I still use it today. If you celebrate Christmas...we tell our kids "not today, but let me take a picture of you of with the toy and I will send it to Santa for next Christmas." They are now 6 and 8 and they come to me to tell me to send a pic to Santa. And bonus at the end of the year I can go through the photos and choose the gifts that Santa is going to give them. It's really helped me put a kabosh on the in store toy tantrums that we all know the kids love to do.

I love your videos! I just started my minimalism/intentional living journey a few months ago. As a married nursing student living with my parents we were just bursting at the seems of our one bedroom with too much stuff and I was just over it! Finally understanding intentional buying and decluttering and it’s so refreshing to let go and not hold onto material items. As a Christian too I feel like God was telling me to let go of the material items and focus on Him and the life he gave me. So happy I found your channel!

Just found your channel thanks to minimal mom! It is so true that minimalism is different for everyone. I struggle with that. I want to be the minimalist with one coat. One boot ect. But I love in a farm. It's not realistic for me to have one of things. And that's ok. Things get very dirty. Or torn. I need one for farm chores. I need one to wear to stores or to school pick up. I need one for church. It doesn't make me any less than other minimalist. It's different for everyone. I just have to keep telling myself that. Loving your videos so far!

I totally agree with not buying little toys, everytime you're out with the children. The kids grow up being thankful for what they have. I have 5 children grown. One day I bought my teen son his own bottle of mouthwash while he had a group of friends over. He was grateful, and gave me an enthusiastic "thank you!" His friends reacted with, "Dude! Why are you so excited over mouthwash?! Its not even name brand!" 🤣 Made my heart happy.

I won't be buying anything unnecessary! It's only the first week of this year and yet it's been difficult to not boredom shop for little bits and pieces - which was a clear message I have a problem! But I'm proud for not giving in and just wanting to succeed. I'm hoping to work my way through the dozen of The Ordinary bottles in my cabinet..! I have too many unread books so I want to work my way through those. I still have too many clothes.. but - I sold a lot, donated some and feel it's easier to dress now. I need to be more ruthless but honestly I'm finding that hard. I fell into the trap of watching perfume collection videos and acquired WAY too many perfumes ( I did sell some. But 12 bottles is way too many!)! No more plants.. I love them, I scatter them around.. but when I put them all in one room - again, way too many! I may do some propagation to get my planty fix! I just don't need anything. I've told my husband I don't want to buy anything this year so I'll be held accountable. I also want to be better about meal planning to save money there too. I want to use what I have and appreciate it too. That said, I would like some new resistance bands, the ones I have might as well be made from a noodle. Really excited to be much more mindful and not buy crap I don't need x
@margaretmatheny2 жыл бұрын
oh the boredom shop, I get that too. It's in our face all the time! I loved reading this! Also, my hubby just got me some resistance bands from a dollar store for Christmas haha. Practical and very cheap! I was proud of him:) Thanks for sharing all this. I'm so grateful you're here.

Planning a low buy this year...just went through and made a "wish list" of items I already know I plan on buying/needing and have started decluttering my house again. The clothes always get me...most of my items are not for the stay at home, homeschooling mom I currently am...am listing most (and keeping only a handful of outfit choices for date nights, days out, etc.) with the realization that if my status changes, new clothing items are on every corner...most of all, I'm just being kinder to myself. Instagram and FB often get me in trouble with "must have" clothing items too, so I'm thinking of editing my groups and limiting my time. As always, enjoyed the video!

You had some really good ones. In 2020 I put myself on a spending ban.. I think I spent around 50.00 all year. I was so proud of myself. It's easier when you have to do something.. then I ended up spending quite a bit this year on things backed up that were needed and some things un-needed for sure. My supplements change up from time to time as I muscle test with my doctor but I do have some bought ahead of time that will save on this years budget. I actually avoided going to the Christmas boutique place near us for year end clearance. That was tough to do :) I need to think more on my list. My main areas I spend on that is not needed is home decor and clothes. But after last year I am putting myself on a low spend mindset again. I feel like I am pretty set this year so I think I will do ok. I want to start to save that unnecessary spending money to go towards home upgrades that might happen or we want to happen. Happy New Year!
@margaretmatheny2 жыл бұрын
Happy New Year to you too! That's an incredible accomplishment. woah!! I love your thought process too. It's not just "choosing not to spend". It's about saving for things that are more fulfilling and add value to your life. I love it! Thanks for Sharing this!

Christmas decor used to be my downfall. Starting last Halloween, I decided to bring down boxes for whatever holiday is coming over the next year and purge. I got rid of half my Halloween decorations. Christmas was the worst though. I kid you not, I probably had about 20 boxes and got down to I think 6. AND I didn’t buy anything new this Christmas! I will continue to check myself once I hit Halloween again. But for now, my attic feels so much better already.

You are really cool. You are comfortable in your own skin that is what I am struggling to do. This makes you super attractive. ❤️❤️❤️

Do you currently have a code for epic water filters? I am trying to buy 2 and use your code, but it isn't taking it???!!! Is it because there is a sale?
@margaretmatheny2 жыл бұрын
Sure do! And I'm guessing, yes, the sale is why the code won't go through. But just do what works best for you! Don't worry about me. Just happy you're purchasing some for clean water!!

Have you tested that filter. Alot of filters has alot of chlorine in it. Like the zero water has. I threw my expense pitcher away.

I know you aren't buying deodorant this year but for when you do, have you considered the rock salt kind? My sister swears by it!
