I don't think that claim has been made. You might be impressed by all this, but I'm a bit skeptical about it all. I'm not saying he's not a great shot, but I might even make that shot after several attempts, too.

LOL nice. Yea I didn't think it was a great hit... but a hit at that distance is still impressive. I can shoot pretty damn good from years of competitive target shooting, but I still wouldn't be comfortable past 60. 140 yards is madness. Cool to watch though for sure.

It's just not worth the risk. I wonder how many animals are wounded and never shown with this type of content. I wonder the same about Tim Wells.

As far as the ostrich, his arrow probably broke the hip bone and zipped right through the vitals. I have shot several turkeys with that shot, and they go no where. Can't run, can't take flight (requires a running start), and the go down fast.

Call me a hater or cry baby or snowflake or whatever you want but in no way shape or form should archery shots like this be taken at live animals. It doesn’t matter how well you know your equipment or how proficient you are with it. The flight time of an arrow at even 80 yards is enough for an animal to move FEET not inches. You can’t predict animal demeanor well enough to know they are going to remain stationary. We owe it to the animals as hunters to not gamble with the odds of wounding them for views on KZbin. He made a hell of a shot and is a hell of an archer no doubt. But 90% of the time the outcome of that shot isn’t a happy ending.

Well he did hit it in the leg that’s the only reason it “only went a few yards”. I’m sure a follow up shot was necessary the video cuts and you can see the ostrich with its head and neck up and alert- not the demeanor of an animal that is quickly passing.

Yup, turn resolution up and zoom in on his left leg. You can see it hits him in the thigh, and moves with the leg, meaning it’s not in the torso.

Thats exactly what I was going to say dead in the thigh. Which is what it is I mean its 140 yards but surely he just so happen to hit a main artery in the thigh if it died. Probably just had to shoot it again as they got closer or with a gun. Which if that's what he sees as cool more power to him. Seems like you're taking too much of a gamble at that distance for something to go wrong. Target shooting? Yea that's fun and games, but I would say being ethical has to come in at some part.

It’s worth the hunt. You put in the practice and have the shot then the good thing about that range is the animals don’t react to the sound of the bow so they won’t duck. They might move because they move but even still, 2 arrows is still better than being eaten alive as an old man ostrich. And I don’t care who your are, having a trophy of a stalked ostrich at 140yards is a hunt no one will ever replicate. I’d be a proud man after that one.
