That method works wonders when your daily driver is an $800 car. Buy two at that price. Then you can't make excuses about needing it to be reliable. Keep them both running. If one fails to start one morning, grab the keys to the other one. After work, fix the broken one (or drop it off at a shop). The trick is setting your thresholds for repair expenses. If it breaks the threshold, it's time to get rid of it and get another hooptie.

Probably like 400-750 a month for full coverage at most. So easily $5k a year. About $80 per vehicle in Texas for inspection & tags per year. So $320-400. $400 if the camper inspection & tags also amount to $80. Not too sure about that one.

I have a few friends like this. The solution that worked for one of them was to sell ALL BUT ONE vehicle. Do all the upgrades ALL AT ONCE. Then never spend any money on it again. If you make upgrades progressively there will always be something *next* . If you do it all at once you will have to be satisfied with your decision.

It's like having an emergency fund, but as a vehicle. Take your time fixing the daily.
