Seems like you can handle just about anything the PS5 can throw at you (except maybe a bad APU). No whining, just a quality repair. Always fun to watch.

Yeah I think this guy is 1st class, and the best of the best, he really goes into detail & these videos so concise, and easy to understand and goes the extra mile where most other techs would give up and move on.

It fills my heart when he takes off a capacitor from a donor board and measures it to get the value, instead of just swapping parts. On a sidenote, wish there were schematics for these consoles, like there is for the xbox one s. That would help a lot.

Watch out for those Ebay scams. I had a couple claiming 'no power - so no other testing could be done.' End up being dead power supply, messed up components on the board and the worst part psn banned. I have opened eBay case, and after some time, I was able to get my money back. Sellers tried to scam me even after that by opening a case against me, stating I sent them, not a complete return, but Ebay resolved it in my favor. Don't let those sellers get away with those scams.

What is the recourse for something like this? I bought a PS5 slim with a reported HDMI problem. Fixed that only to find out the previous owner killed the drive as well ripping out a game disc.
@ToltecMerc8 ай бұрын
If the disc drive is the one that came with the console, you can remove the PCB inside the drive and transfer to a good Blu-Ray drive. It would need to be the correct model as they have made 2 or 3 different Blu-Ray drives by now.

Hi, have you ever mentioned the temperatures you use for the preheater and the gun when soldering/desoldering chips ? If yes please point me to this video. Also why you put this tape on top of the crystal ? To protect it from direct heat ?

@ToltecMerc8 ай бұрын
It is some kind of heat resistant tape that comes on SSD controllers from AliExpress vendors. Whatever it is, it is very tough so I have been hanging on to the little pieces and reusing them.

Hey ToltecMerc, great video as always! I was wondering if you would be interested in a PS5 that I have to do a video on? Currently the state of the board is it pulls up to 0.3amps for a few seconds and goes back down to 0.01 amps for the standby sequence, notable items are it doesn't have any shorts on the board I can find, chips that have been replaced: South bridge, memory controller, HDMI encoder, and a wifi chip reflow. I'm a hobbyist repair tech that volunteers in my county and I would appreciate learning from you if you can figure out what's wrong with it!
