Oh wow! Beautiful results!! Did I see buckets of Scarva glaze in the background?? I am so envious! We can't get Scarva here in the U.S. Digitalfire is a great website! I've found for darker clays I get more off-gassing with a slower speed bisque fire, and a slow ramp up on glaze fire, so that might be worth a try too to get rid of bubbling or pinholes. For glazing the outside of my bowls, I came up with an idea that works well for me. I don't have a lot of glaze to do a proper dip sometimes so I do something different. To get an even layer on the bowl, I first wax the foot, then glaze the inside and let it dry. Then I put the bowl upside-down on a pedestal (sometimes I just use an empty coffee can or some other cylindrical shaped object) and set that on top of a wire rack. Then I put that whole thing over a large bucket and do a pour over the bowl. The glaze runs off, goes through the wire rack and into the bucket. It puts a nice consistent even layer on the outside. Thank you as always Mikkel, another great video!!

Thanks :-) I don't actually think I currently have any Scarva glazes. I mix most myself. For my biggest bowls I use a band wheel to glaze the outside. Like I did in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onaQhX6grKtoiKM

Ah! I see!! I just had a similar idea last night and bought a small banding wheel to try the same technique! I should have watched more of your videos! I am new to your channel and am very grateful to you for all the learning and inspiration you give to everyone. Thank you again! @@deMibPottery

Swirlware is sure so pretty. I haven't tried that yet, but I want to. They turned out so beautiful, the shape and colors. I love how each one is unique. I tend to pay that extra attention to my goazing, rubbing out blobs and runs. I do my work at a studio, and not everyone does that. I thought I might be over critical, but watching you, it makes me feel I have been doing it right. Sorry for the one that the bottom failed.

So much to like about this video! Again - I really appreciate that you you glaze and show the fired results in the same video. Also really appreciate the honest/candid approach showing all the challenges. At 16:30 I noticed blisters inside several of the vases (I call it "popadoming"!)... but whenever I've had that the glaze goes on to crawl in those areas... did yours crawl? Lastly... that last brown/white bowl is one of my favourites of the collection - it's great! I'm sure it will grow on you. Thanks again for sharing everything with us all and I'm already looking forward to next Sunday's video! :)

Thanks a lot. I had no crawling issues and very rarely do

I'm doing swirlware for several years now and my experiences with it are similar to your's. What also loks good: try colored glazes on black/white-marbled clay.

"Looks good" - I mean😅

Thanks. I did try some colored glazes but so far not with the results I was looking for. Do you have a link to any of the ones you did, that you like?

I think most of the results are beautiful. Why do you dip and not brush on the glaze? I do not have the proper space for dipping.

Thanks. Brushing is much too slow for me

I love the mint with black. I definitely need that green clay in my life lol. You have the same issues i have which is the muting of color once clear is applied. The black goes brown, the red goes gray brown. It ruins it. I was hoping you had figured it out but im definitely trying red iron oxide to help with gas release.

I will test a few other clear glazes and the trick with RIO

Would you consider using the liquid crystal on the outside of the pots to maintain the color? Or would that not work for this? @@deMibPottery
