More people should be educated on the great efficiency of a dome. Also, the strength and safety it provides for the family. I find it to be a very good idea! You can grow food inside year round. It seems to me they are also cheaper than a traditional stick building.

Having a dome like this makes living in all season states less demanding, I'd love actually living in one which is mostly well self sustainable hence eliminating a few monopolies that are so demandingly high during winter, imagine being able to enjoy all seasons not fearing quadrupled costs incurred in winter, a person could literally garden, be creative and enjoy the usually difficult season to its fullest, what a phenomenal idea, earthships are also a great option although these dome homes seem so straight forward and doable, thank you for sharing, WOW!!

A lot of these were geodesic, but domes of yore were ribs reaching center top. I venture I could build the most economically viable structure by combining cement silo and dome. The basic structure would follow the same idea as farm silos which also have dome roofs. Many floors with windows would be possible, a winding staircase as in lighthouse but could hug the circumference rather than center pole. Well anyhow.
@openeverydoor88793 жыл бұрын
It's still a silo with a dome on top that does not give you the invincibility of the Dome structure. The technical term "tensegrity" was coined by Buckminster Fuller. Later in life, his estate trademarked the term tensegrity after Carlos Castaneda used it 2 coin his Magical Passes. I attended some of the workshops. Plus, I may misunderstand you, but I trust you want many levels for your own home rather than Apartments. After all that's what we are here to get away from. ✌

any suggestion of any non-toxic material to cover the Dome?
@daniel46472 жыл бұрын
@@adelchidipalma9857 Polycarbonate, some versions has Bisphenol A which is similar to estrogen, but it's not toxic and considered safe enough to make food containers out of and even dental fillings. It's also very strong and lasts for a long time. If you don't want to use that and still want parts of it transparent your only choice is glass which I wouldn't recommend. If you don't care about it being transparent though you could use anything from clay and dirt to the kind of fiber mesh and resin we build modern boats out of which is fairly non toxic although not completely, which is kind of the point because it kills mold and other things you generally don't want.

The Dome "above the arctic circle" is still in a mild environment - there are Trees in the view. This is the often missed point that latitude alone does not tell you climate. Europe is warmed by the Gulf Stream, making northern latitudes far warmer than say the same latitude in Northern Canada or Siberia. The Tree-line is a good indicator of permafrost (where the ground remains frozen even during summer) - In Central Canada this line comes down below Hudson's Bay to Latitude 55-degrees, where-as in Norway the Tree-line extends early all the way to the northern tip of the nation at about 84-degrees. Similarly to the Gulf Stream which warms Western Europe, the Japan-current warms Western North-America, providing British-Columbia (Canada) and Alaska with a far milder climate than the Central or Eastern Canadian Arctic. If you want an interesting comparison between two Cities with similar Latitude but completely different weather, look up the average weather for London England at 51-degrees north, and Winnipeg Manitoba (Canada) at 50-degrees north!

I've seen a much simpler done in the past. It involves a giant balloon that is inflated inside of a semi-soft material which creates a done. It is left to harden. Then the balloon is deflated and removed leaving the dome shell to be finished. It was said to cut building time and expense drastically.
@jackallen62616 жыл бұрын
Monolithic dome homes, inflatable form can be any reasonable dome shape and size and it is blown over with I think they called it shot create a kind of light weight concrete thing. goes up in a few days and is super strong.
@MartinSage6 жыл бұрын
I've seen this construction too. The fast setting concrete is "blown" through a tube onto the balloon surface. Also, a dome can be created using plywood triangles bolted onto the frame members. An Elastomeroc coating is applied to seal the dome. This was a crude design by today's standards.

William Brancati EricB: Where can I get information on that type of system?
@williambrancati64366 жыл бұрын
@@ericbrown8398 Wish I could tell you. It was just something I remember seeing. Of course about 20 yrs ago I saw a way to protect.homes from fire. I believe it was the Hollywood Hills fire. Some company ground up disposable diapers and mixed them with water. They then sprayed the mixture all over a home in the path of the fire. That fire burned down all of the other homes in the neighborhood, but not this one. It seems that the diaper material holds 10-12 times it's weight in water. It protected the home and after they washed it off the house was pretty much unscathed. I thought well that's the future. Never heard about it again. What happened?
