In this video I show you how I do a vinegar run and a sacrificial run on the 15 gallon traditional copper still by Copper Still Co. I also talk about the collaboration between Copper Still Co and Still'n The Clear to come up with a high quality entry level copper still for begnners.

The lyne arm will come straight out so you can add a thumper. The still will likely come standard as traditional paste cap still with worm only. With Upgrade options to add thumper, add electric port and upgrade from paste style cap to 6” trip clamp.

I’m not sure if this has been asked before. I’m building my own out of a beer keg with a 10:22 copper column and copper Liebig condenser. Now should I do both runs ??

To clarify. Those leak spots were areas that will always need teflon tape 😉 Not a leak in the solder joints ❤
@StillnTheClear
@StillnTheClear 2 ай бұрын
No certainly not the solder joints. A little Teflon on the threads solved it.

What do you put IN the sacrificial run? Would be helpful for the newbie's to give very detailed instructions. Thanks.

Are you putting ice in the water tank as it gets circulated? Once you guys get the whole new system worked out and all the kinks, you should go thru every aspect of the still (heat source and cleaning) and the condensing water (pump and temp). Have wanted to increase my still capacity, this might be the ticket. I don't like the plated style stills, only pot style. This looks great.

No. I don't use ice. If the water gets too warm I just replace it with cold water. We will certainly keep updates of progress.

What about a thumper

The next iteration of the still will be designed so it can be run with or without a thumper.

Yes, In fact the one in the video has a 2" port on the side, but I forgot to mention it.

I dont understand why still manufacturers use those useless union connectors. Do yourself a favor and switch to sanitary fittings with Tri-clamps and silicone gaskets. They are quick to assemble and disassemble and you don't need tools. And they don't leak. But that's a very nice still for sure and they produce great liquor.
