I’ve added a jar to mine but I when I tried strawberries I couldn’t taste a difference. On today’s run I but some shine from my previous run in my thumper. My alcohol level went from 160 to 170 I guess I was adding water back into my run. My concern with adding more jars is the back pressure. If it goes backward I call it farting & burping if it goes forward. When I stop my run what’s in my thumper farts back into my still. Now as so I turn off the heat I loosen my fittings so it doesn’t. This is a show so there’s things we’re not seeing. The best I’ve done on my first run is 130 not 190 like the show. It changes throughout the run. Cheers 🍻

I did one run of corn mash. But I make only a Mango honey mash now. It comes out at 130 proof on one run. I put it through a Pure water filter like a Brittany a few times to take some of the burn out. Then float fresh slice of mango in it. PERFECT EVERY TIME.

I love this show one of my favorites to watch, but what I cannot figure is he said by extra distilling with the gin baskets of fruit he said it would produce more liquor. They only made six gallons on this run so without the gin baskets they would have only yielded 3/4 gallons.. seems like a lot of work and a big drum of mash for a small run of moonshine even flavored shine

yep, you can tell buy how small the set up is. A keg like that is 15 gal, minus the expansion room you leave the most that they can do is about 11 or 12 gal per keg per run. And prob closer to 10 gal per keg, at a very generous 20% alc vol and for simple math that would be 2 gal alc per keg per run lol. is it really worth the effort for that small batch? They wouldnt be risking jail out in the woods and all "the work" just for a few gal so yeah licensed. Might be more believable if the had 100 gal or bigger set up hehehe

If your looking to try something new try this. Popcorn Moonshine. Moonshine made with popcorn. Not malted or ground popcorn but popped popcorn! Pop the corn using a hot air popper and then take the popped poppcorn and throw it in a blender or food processor until a powder and add that to your mash for flavor. I would think thats the best way for the yeast to get every molecule of starch to eat. Should make for a unique flavor profile. Might even cut down on the amount of corn needed for a run. Also might need to use that enzyme to help break down the starch. Any grain that you can pop should work too.

@@BlackberryDazed Foreshots are thrown out The later heads can be drank, but can cause headaches, exspecialy if you use lots of yeast for fermenting. Hearts are definitely kept Tails are reran back thru with new mash/ wash refill. You can rerun heads as well if ya want too. Being that keg holds 15.5 gallons I don't see 10 gallons better yet 12 coming off it. If lucky he will get 6-8 gallons before the tails start to get below 80 proof/ 40%. I usually only get 5 - 6.5 gallons that are keepable out of 15 since I don't fill mine to the top. That range 140 -85/80 proof.
