Fantastic list as always from TBM! You are absolutely bang on with Illusion. I must have taught it a couple of hundred times when I worked in the cafe. So good for families, groups of friends but also dates - let folks show their competitiveness in a non-strategic form. Did on one occasion have a first date who were so overly nice to each other the row was 20 cards long and they still wouldn't call a mistake on the other for fear of looking mean 😂

I dont know how available it is now, but we have the Animal Upon Animal with the rotating board. The croc you stack on is on a log in the water, so when animals fall off, they get eaten by a shark. Dark, but a fun little extra element.😊

The Micro Macro series is pretty fun. The 4th game is now available for preorder, [ Micro Macro Showdown ]as well as a bonus box. I use clear tiddlywinks to track the story, so I can follow it without losing where it started. Thank you for the Family fun list!

Fun list! Especially since it’s not all party games; it’s a good mix of things. Animal Upon Animal sounds fun - I just played a game of Zoople last night with three other adult friends and everyone loved it. Sounds similar to Animal Upon Animal, so I’ll check that one out - thank you! Love Can’t Stop! A couple other fun dice rolling games I enjoy are Dice Miner and Mino Dice (trick taking game based on Skull King, but goofier with dice). Also, this is many months late in saying, but I LOVE the new logo!

Hey guys! Sorry! Off topic..... Hope this is ok to post here, if not, any recommendations to post elsewhere? Been watching you a lot more lately. I like your style and tastes. Been into tabletop games for about six years now (own 88 games! :-) I know, not a lot). I have a problem I'm hoping ok to ask here. Joined two meetup groups this year about six months ago (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Recently, I've been feeling "burned out". I know! Gasp! 😲 My Tuesday gaming buddy likes to play mid- to heavy-weight euros. I play along cuz I'm always interested in learning new games, but lately, it just isn't fun anymore. Feels more like work, than fun. I know, that may be fun to some people, but I think I've burnt too many brain cells to care anymore. Kinda feels like depression. Thinking of taking a month's hiatus.... Do you, or any of your followers, have any recommendations to remedy this? I don't want to end gaming! Sorry in advance for being a downer.

Hey Daley! I think this kind of burnout is pretty natural. When you really dive in you tend to go a little too hard, and you're still figuring out what it is you like. I think a hiatus is not a bad idea, and try and get some lighter games played. Relaxing games that are just chill fun. It sounds like you need a bit of a reset. And if the kinds of games you're playing aren't for you, you just have to switch it up. And if your game group isn't willing to play games like that, I'd suggest getting a new game group. Keep it simple, relaxed, and fun. Try and reset a bit

Are you always playing new games? I think that’s really fatiguing especially if they’re on the more thinky side. Taking a break for a bit is always a good option. Other ideas: You could ask to replay some games. You could ask to have a night of multiple lighter games.

Can't Stop is one game that has gone Backwards in game appeal! WTH were they thinking on changing up the board AND pieces?! THIS is what' stopping me from owning it!

Not sure what changes happened that you don’t like but there are many versions out there if this particular one isn’t to your liking. I’ve seen one themed around climbing a mountain for example

Just seeing the original plastic board and cones go to neoprene and Flatish pieces that are hard to grip. The whole game is just clumsy now! Thankfully Mountain Goats has come along and is quite better anyway!

If you can't lose, what's the point of Dorfromantik? there's a lots of 1000 pieces jigsaws out there.

we find it fun to go for the high score and as you score well you unlock new game materials. So call it a puzzle that you don't start with all the pieces available and have to earn

Jigsaws don’t invite conversation. When we pull a piece in Dorfromantik with my parents there’s a nice chat about options.
