I've had a lot of sales jobs, and every one of the 'tricks' you describe is valid. However, you're missing two of the most powerful tools in the book. 1) Don't try to 'sell' anything to a customer - find a need and meet it. This requires a lot more investment in the customer. 2) No one can make a choice among four or more options - reduce the customer's choices to three, then try to eliminate one of those. Anyone can choose between two items.

As a building contractor giving a bid to a potential client that was not from referral required a bit more selling than if the homeowner was recommended to me. To make a sale you must get the client to commit and say YES to sign a contract, there is much informational discussion about the potential project and you must be competent and honest, of course. BUT...to help close the deal, when I am invited into their home, I ask several simple questions where the answer will be a YES. "Can we sit at the dining room table so I may show you some photos of my work?"-YES. "May I have a glass of water?"-YES. Etc...if you have the goods, the competency, belief in your product.... a little help...helps. Often times, the client will say YES and sign the contract

Another sales technique is to bundle items at a discount to encourage one to spend more versus what one may purchase individually. It raises the average ticket prices incrementally, but the consumer believes they are getting a price break.
@ArbitratorsSanctuary3 жыл бұрын
Transfering ownership. I dont know it technically off the top but i remember it working sales at radioshack. Its when transfer ownership in some way to customer as if the item is already theirs. I think psycologiclly the customer feels like its already theirs once the ownership has been transfered weather physically or i think even mentally. I had this happen to me recently and Im wierd sometimes ill give someone the sale just because of how they present themselves. This guy cam into the laundromat with a bead bracelet and a necklace with the buddah on it. He put the bracelets on my arm and said these are for peace and put the buddah on around my neck and said this is for protection. I didnt know what they were for but i kept the meanings on the bracelets and bought it from him simply because he used that technique😂 Ive bought a bunch of stuff just because I like peoples sales techniques.

Give Something ...when you're selling anything to anyone and you give them something for free along with their purchases people fell happy and feel rewarded for what they just bought. Like for a $10 purchase you can give them something that worth $1whitch you can easily add to the original price 😉

I disagree, build rapport and make sure they know your product is valuable enough you don't give discounts or gifts. Being the gas station on the corner with 4 gas stations is not the way to create success, make your product valuable enough in their minds they want to rise up to the level of obtaining it.

One of the books that I have read Nudge says few things on how psychology works And that is the fear of missing out which you have already mentioned however there is another trick which is called fear of not getting ie Only 3 pieces per person if you see a board which says only 3 pieces of per person in then you are most likely to gather more interest and probably make your friend Buy it for you. Another sales technique is called comparative study your bills are 40% higher than your next door neighbour is something which we evoke a lot of interest rather than saying reduce your electricity bills by switching off the fan and air conditioners when not in use

Understanding cultural norms is important in sales. Sometimes we lose a sale because we inadvertently miss a significant detail about someone on a cultural level. We should learn about how to properly greet someone from a different culture than our own. We should learn about the dos and don’ts with regard to trying to sell to different people from various cultural backgrounds.

Honesty is truly the best policy. I know most don't do this, but as a buyer, I always ask the seller some questions, which I know the answers to beforehand, just to see whether the seller is being honest. If the seller is dishonest, I decide never to go back to that seller ever again.

If stores sold good products at reasonable prices and let things go at that, without trying to scheme and manipulate people, they would have at least 3 times the profits they do now. Honesty and integrity really are the best policies. If you want to sell something, concentrate on customer satisfaction, instead of greed. Create a product a person will be proud to own

They would also over deliver "on accident" and charge you for it. And the only way to fix it is to call customer service and state you did not order xyz product. Which by the way is a very long hold time just to cancel a case of sparkling water. So customers end up keeping the charge because there is no way to dispute it online.
