Family first. Your time to live your dreams were 18 to 27. Poor people don't get to dream. Did MLK run to Panama. Did Coretta run to panama after his murder? You should be building something here and leaving a legacy so that your kids don't become your mother. Everyone that runs to Panama, Mexico, Ghana, Philippines, Gambia or Kenya always return. You won't find what you are looking for in a 3rd world country.

I live in Fort Mill, South Carolina. A middle class community. My wife and I go to church every Sunday. Just today I again asked my wife "Now why do the priest has to have a bodyguard?" It gets me every time. The priest is handing out communion and the bodyguard is right there behind him. It is just crazy to me how bad it has gotten here in the US. And it is not just one body guard, there are several posted throughout the church. And all due to the incident I forget in which state that a man tried to shoot the priest. And it is getting worst.

I am a 66 year old male retiree who has lived in Panama for the last 15 years. I live in the interior of Panama in a small town in the Los Santos Province. I live on a very small income. I own my own tiny home. I do not socialize with Xpats. Not because I am anti social. Just because I do not live near Xpats. I left the US because I was at a crossroad in my life. I wanted to experience something different. I served in the military so I am used to adapting to different lifestyles. I would say that most US citizens would not adapt well to my current lifestyle. US citizens feel entitled to high living standards. Tolerance for inconvenience is not something that US citizens have much of. If you feel that you would like to experience the Panamanian lifestyle I highly recommend trying it out. Don't make a commitment to Panama for a significant amount of time. At least a year. I have watched Xpats come and go. Mostly go. Panama is only for the hardy and adaptable. Not for the soft and weak.
