Growing up I was poor, unhappy, living with negative family members. Until I got to college and got an education, I was never going to get out of property. My husband and I changed our spending habits and are now very prepared for opportunity during this recession. Work hard and don’t give up guys!

Similar to mine, but 3 narcissists who refused to let me advance. No education, held back. Controlled by them at my workplace and life beyond it. Controlled my relationship and took away everything I worked for, or achieved. Anything I made, they destroyed. They demanded good deeds, which I have always done for others with a glad heart, but if the good deed wasn't for them, it didn't go past unpunished. Eventually I reached my limit and went grey rock and no contact with them. That was 20 years ago and earlier this year, I had their flying monkey come by me to try pull me down and diminish my achievements. It's never ending. I have remained silent over this last effort to pull me down. If I engage, it takes me back to where they want me, back to where I was before 20 years of no contact. I'm not stupid enough to go back to be their supply and let them use me to triangulate their failures. I have a successful business and theirs has failed...... Get the drift? ...... Get out and stay out.

@@ElizabethWarrenYeahYeah I'm so sorry you had to deal with that as a child but I'm so glad to hear that you got out of it. I completely agree, if you can't help pull them up, THEY will pull YOU down. So it really is in your best interest to cut ties. Now you can input your efforts into people who will actually accept help and change for the better. Sending you lots of love! Coming from our bad childhoods, we all need more love!

My escape was through the military. As soon as I enlisted I had a steady paycheck, place to sleep and three hot meals a day. To get promoted required self improvement. You didn't have to enroll in off duty education or go to leadership schools, but you were often advised that your career was going nowhere without it. Because of the enlistment, I was able to go to college without taking a loan. It took three years to get a two year community college AA degree because I had to take a few remedial courses. But it was worth it. The learning apathy in my teens was replace with a yen for learning in my twenties. Which became a life long learning passion. I'm now retired from teaching and the Marine Corps. I get two pensions and have an ebay side hustle that generates plenty of cash. For thousands of years the military has ben an opportunity to escape a crappy home life. I highly recommend it. Remember even the author of Rich Dad / Poor Dad benefited from military service. Semper Fi. Gunny

You have to work your ass off but it's very possible and honestly easy to obtain if you don't put that much thought into it. My first memories were living in Tijuana Mexico in the mid 60s. An out house. Dirt floors. no running water. No power after 6p. We came to the US in 1966 and my parents got us a 1 bedroom in Boyle Heights. 7 kids. By 1969, my very hard working father had bought us a house in South Central Los Angeles. I stacked pizza boxes, waited tables, had a paper route....My parents put us all in Catholic schools, but I was a terrible student and never went to college. Since I didn't go to college my education was my job, my life experiences and I traveled a lot. I had been to 27 countries before I was 25.(backpacking, staying in hostels and sometimes working while on the trip) At 57 I make a 6 figure income(as does my wife). I own real estate in 5 states. and I've taken two companies public. I share one simple piece of advise with my children: ALWAYS accept responsibility for your actions!!! This goes a long way. 3 most important habits: 1. Get up early; at least 3 hours before you have to be anywhere(use that time efficiently) 2.Dress well or at LEAST clean. People treat you how you look (there will always be haters) avoid tattoos or weird piercing. 3. Stop drinking alcohol(and/or smoking pot) Life is hard enough, these do unimaginable damage both professionally and personally. Don't let your life happen by accident. Die with memories not with dreams.

I was born into the British 'middle, middle class" my parents were very loving but never, never gave me anything easily. Instead they taught me to be an individual and self dependent. My family moved to Australia (Brisbane) n 1981, when I was 11.This was very hard on all of us, and a great culture shock!! I have grown from the experience, however, and despite the opportunities that I missed in the UK, I have come to love my new country, more than home. I very much agree with you that poverty is almost a state of mind and is somehow a unconscious, sub conscious or conscious decision . Anyone who is clever and earnest enough, strives hard, who lives in the developed or developing world, has the chance to rise above 'their station'. This does, however, require a certain degree of determination, intellect, and dare I say it, good luck. Sorry, I am somewhat, repeating my former point!!! Love your channel.Cheers from sunny, sunny Queensland, Australia, Earth. As a postscript rise above what you were given!!!

I totally agree. Thoma Hardy said "I've often been broke, but I've never been poor." My father earned many millions in his lifetime but died in poverty because he had a poor attitude and belief system born of ignorance, fear, and an underclass attitude. He often said "Investing in the stock market is like gambling your money away at the race track." He never saved, never spent wisely, never invested, and when he died, not one person went to the morgue to claim his body. It is possible to be poor even in the midst of bountiful income, and it is equally possible to be rich when you come from crushing poverty. George Clayson's book, Richest Man in Babylon was the most life-changing and encouraging book I have ever read.

@@ekomnta7308 It doesn't but it happens that there will be at least one member in this type of family who somehow won't settle for the values, or beliefs he would grow up surrounded with and push for change in more promising direction for its own good. This lottery child will definitely struggle with dealing with the intrinsic family pressures that comes along with economical success. Escape! Now you're talking! As often, lateish to the party, but I only found you recently and am trawling through the back catalog :-). This video (thank you so very much) is showing me that I'm just about to get some output from my 20-year project of detangling #4 -- poor parents (or a poor community) can't teach their children to be rich. My family and community was not abjectly poor -- I used to call us "lower middle class" but really I was trained as "working poor", now that I think about it (and I've dedicated myself for these 20 years to thinking about it). I have known for most of my life (I'm 57) that I was badly trained, due both to objective circumstances of poor parenting, and the overarching gestalt that specified that I had to aspire to the common ambitions (of the working poor, which I actually was not really down witth in the first place) rather than teaching me how to carve a place of the proper shape for my strengths. This video really moved my forgiveness meter on this; "they cannot teach you what they do not know" has taken on a new deeper understanding in my heart (so thanks for that). It also helped me recognize more levels of the fallacies that I was taught-- my ultimate "ambition" is supposed to be "to be rich", but what that means from the perspective of the working poor is 1) not very "nice" in their opinion (so it was always a conflicted message); 2) not very ambitious in my (secret) opinion (yeah, OK, get a lot of money. Is that it?) 3) not very comprehensive (my uncle told me this once, that "we" (the people down the rungs) don't know how to be rich, because we have no experience with that environment); and 4) has little to do with me or what "being rich" really means to my.... eternal being, if you will. Now I see why retraining myself has seemed so impossible-- unttil now I didn't have a reliable source for strong foundational building blocks (that's you, Alux). What a relief to finally throw the rest of that garbage away like the garbage it is and start -- yeah, from the bottom , but that's no problem, I'm like an ox -- building something that will stand, and will stand for *me* , like it oughtta ;-) . Alux, you are incredible! XOXOX

What did it take for me to escape poverty? Basically this whole list! Hitting my rock bottom and breaking point is what made the change happen! I have been a top expert in this topic of being in poverty! Living in multiple shitty apartments with mice. Having to ride the dirty bus 2 hours to get to work, with a bunch of smelly folk. Living in those apartments with no a/c. So many things. But yes, I most certainly had to learn that poor is a mindset, but so is wealthy. I made the decision to get out of poverty 2.5 years ago, and it is paying off nicely! I even excelled during this pandemic! The best part is that I have been learning how to save and invest money, which will definitely pay off in the long run.

My personal takeaway: *Have in mind that life gets better when we get better. INTERESTING RULES OF POVERTY. People who Believe their destiny is to suffer do nothing to stop it they try few things and give up Being broke and being poor are two different things.. There is no nobility in poverty, educated people take advantage of uneducated people the same way the strong do to the weak. Poor people can not teach their children to be rich by so doing poverty can be passed on from generation to generation Hardest working people in the world likely end up poor Poverty requires company The rich come together to find new ways to innovate while the poor come together to look down on themselves and others. Poverty ties one with more than 1 chain, Goodluck and poverty goes hand in hand thats why poor people gamble Entertainment is how the rich keep the poor docile empty entertainment takes years out of your life Money flees the hand that dont work for it Money solves money problem but poverty is not money problems WHEN YOU ARE POOR YOUR DISABILITY OF BEING POOR WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF IN THE SOCIETY.

In order to escape poverty I took it step by step. Expecting positive results with a goal in mind, and preparing for uncertainty. Focus, Focus, Focus. Replace a "bad" habit with a "good" habit. In my case, I changed drinking for excercising. It cleared my mind and I was able to deal with problems in a much profession al way. Thanks for the videos!!

I was adopted by my great uncle and his wife, my great uncle would always spend my money because I always found money or earned it in California in the 1980's they were extremely abusive my sister had like three children before she was probably even eighteen, when I was fourteen I got my work permit and started working at McDonald's in Castro valley on center st. right up the street from where I use to live, I graduated high school at Hayward High School thank God, worked at Y.E.P in East Oakland that stands for youth employment partnership. Then I worked for FedEx Ground for a year and then I got a chance to serve in thee United States Navy, I received my discharge under honorable conditions, then I moved to a country, which was Colombia were a lot of people don't make two thousand dollars a year, I was twenty one and I just knew I could have fun help people and still be rich with two thousand dollars a month in Colombia, but I had already planned that out at a young age. Escape. If anyone listens to me please be careful in Colombia.

my story of escape: at 17 i dropped out of school and work low paying jobs. after 4 years i had enough. I went back to school and got a university degree and got a job as teacher in middle school i was 25. two years later i moved to a big city, got a second job in another school. instead of paying rent, i bought an appartement on mortgage, the mortgage was the same amount of my rent, so it didnt make a financial difference. three years later i got raise, and i bought a second apartement with bank loan, and I rented this appartement which basically paid the monthly mortgage and left me with a little cashflow. i was 30 and decided to invest in real estate and passive income. now im 34 and im trying to buy a third apartment and rent it out. and i am still a have my paycheck as a goverment employee. hopefully im aiming to invest enough in real estate, so i can get early retirement at 45 max. most of the buying I did with no to little money i had, simple formula, u dont have money, borrow and invest the money in something that pays the debt and leave with something even little. but it took time and some sacrifice, and i have no strings attached

it took me being slapped with going broke to ESCAPE poverty. Back in 2018 I got into a car crash which got me into debt. I went to China to earn for it. When I got back and paid all my debt down to 0, by Septermber 2018 I was left with $54.9 not knowing what I would eat when they run out. Worked hard, spent little until I accumulated an emergency fund. Then went on investing. Alux videos contributed a lot to figuring out what to do. Thank you, Alux

I escaped when i took my success into my own hands. I stopped waiting for someone to give me an opportunity and I made my own. I worked crap go nowhere jobs - fast food, security guard, retail and restaurants. But those gigs weren't getting me where I wanted to go. So I enrolled in truck driving school 800 miles from home and now I'm making more money than I can spend and am on track to have a million dollar net worth when I retire due solely to my living debt free and investing huge amounts of my income.

Escape!. I won a scholarship to study in Australia, and I'm about to leave my country. It took many many rejections to find the right path for me. So, as an advice to the ones that are just starting I say, success is not about speed is about persistence and being able to pivot when you have to. Don't let others discourage you, cause in life you are going to find people that want to drag you with them, but you have to remind yourself why are you trying, what is it that you want to achieve, and commit to a step by step process and not a miracle solution.

But, UBI kept these people out of poverty, which was it's intention. It was meant to cover the absolute basics. They had food to eat, and a roof over their heads. That's all that really matters, everything else, is just gravy. Managing the money you do have, is a skill everyone should learn. It is a lack of which, which is plaguing much of the world today, hence the massive debt. crisis being suffered by many. Many movie stars, and such, went broke, and they had a crap ton of money, because they didn't know how to manage it. Following "Passion", is for people who can afford to. Giving people the opportunity to get educated, would mean that standards would have to be lowered, because not everyone is cut out to go to College, or University, and increase cost of education which would reduce the worth of the degree. This is already happening. A harsh reality is, not everyone is cut out, for a high paying corporate job. There will always be ditch diggers, fast food, and retail workers and other low paying menial labor jobs, that need workers to fill them. But, these workers shouldn't be punished. If they are working, and contributing, they should be able to afford accommodations, food, and medical care. It's bad, when it's more worth while, to be on welfare, than work a low paying job. This has to stop. We also need to stop importing labor, this is bring the cost of labor down. Oh wait, this is what business wants. Regarding #13, this is why socialized medical care, is a good thing, sure, we may have long wait times, but even the poorest of the poor, can afford to take care of their health, before an issue gets worse. Paying your heating bill, or paying for medication, shouldn't have to be a choice.
