Question Aly, I am thinking of getting the ESim for Portugal, but I am not clear (I was on their website)… does it give you a local phone number that people can call you at? Do they include GB of cellular data, for when you don’t have access to Wifi (for example when you are driving or on the beach) and would it work just like a regular SIM for times like, for instance, when you need to do 2-step authentication (which my bank does, as well as many of the websites I use). I’ll be in Portugal for 3 months and I’d love to be able to sort that out before I go! Last time I used a Vodaphone SIM card, for 3 months. Thank you, as always!
@alysmalls11 күн бұрын
Airalo only gives you data (so no phone number), but SimLocal has plans where you can purchase a phone number + data: tidd.ly/3BuG97x which means yes, you'll have internet wherever you are - however, if you're going for 3 months, it might be better to do Vodaphone. You won't have access to your phone number, so I would make sure your 2FA can send you either an email or an authenticator code instead of a text/call

I just did two weeks in Osaka and Kyoto -- I absolutely needed the suction cup wall hooks. Neither of my Airbnb's had a place to hang bath towels! When I arrived I didn't think it was a big deal, but the bathrooms were shower/sink/toilet all-in-one's where the shower water would splash everywhere, so not being able to hang my towel meant that I had to drag a dining room chair into the hallway and park it outside the bathroom door so that I could place all my clothes/a towel there. A little inconvenient 😅 My recommendation is to look closely at the photos of your rental for little details like this. Two suction cup hooks would've taken up very little room in my luggage, and saved me so much annoyance. Happy travels 🧳❤ 🌍

For full size liquids in checked luggage, I use freezer grade zipper bags in gallon and half gallon sizes. Put the container sideways in the half gallon bag, roll it up to remove as much air as possible, seal and then put that in a gallon bag and repeat the process.

Exactly the same for me too.

Great ideas! The snap trays are great gifts and pack flat! I visited my home town and got one for each of my 5 girlfriends, accompanied by a Tide pen. They all loved them! I got a more curvy one from Amazon but same idea. I use mine to keep all the little travel liquid containers.

I just got the slim toiletry pouches to try on our next trip. I’m trying to slim down my packing. I’ve been such an over packer for years. Trying to see what I can fit in a carry on. Jeans are my go to, I know they add weight, so figuring out how to navigate that. Just recently got an upgrade for my carry on, trying out level8. But I love your tips and tricks for all things carry on!! Tried packing cubes, from one of your videos, total game changer. Thanks!!! Keep making videos, they are super helpful.

Great ideas! I want those flamingo towel clips, so cute. I would add a Tide Pen and a travel sized Lint Roller to the list. Also, I tried the Clipa in the past and I just thought it was way too heavy to carry around. I wish it was aluminum and much lighter. edit: fixed typo

Aly, Any chance you can make a video on how to utilize your cell phone when on v-cay, like for maps, directions and what networks to use over there. I bought something with my cell phone provider which into didn't work so I was in trouble thank God the ship had WIFI and I booked my tours before hand. How can I be more savy with my phone when travelling? Thanks.

There is a hack for everything. I can't see when i swim . It has always bothered me. But when i went to get a quote for swim goggles with my glasses strength they quoted me $850 australian dollars. So i had an old pair of glasses. Took them out of the frame and found a pair of $21- swim goggles slightly larger. And the lenses fit on the inside of the swim goggles. I just have to glue them in.

Hi Ally! Love your channel! I have been researching the eSIM option you suggested through airlo but am having difficulty knowing exactly which eSIM to purchase when doing a Caribbean cruise. Any suggestions would be welcomed! I’m from Canada, sailing from the USA in a closed loop voyage. We stop at Basse Terre, Puerto Plata and Tortola.

The company has really good customer service. You can call, email or chat with them and they will help you. I find the website is quite easy to navigate once you read it over. I've used Airelo for many trips and its worked flawlessly.

Can you please explain e SIM card? Why is that better than our normal plan at a daily rate?
@alysmalls15 күн бұрын
My phone carrier charges me $15 per day to use it abroad (for my last trip that would have been 14 days x $15 = $210) or pay $10 - 15 (total) for the e-sim which is enough data to last 2 weeks or more
