Your tips were almost like hearing myself speak. I already do all of those things. By the way: tip 17 buy a large can of tomato puree then take a sheet of baking paper and fold it to fit across the top of one of your freezer draws. Using a tablespoon dot spoonfuls of tomato puree on to the paper and place the draw back into the freezer. You can then peel the frozen puree from the paper and place them in a freezer bag. This way you will always have puree at hand to add to those legume casseroles.

That is genius! That sounds like a really smart way to freeze things in general, too! It reminds me of how I would cut my super ripe bananas into coins and then quarter them. I'd get a sheet of foil, spread the pieces out flat, and fold the foil into an envelope to lay flat in the freezer. No more banana chunks freezing together!

I cook my potatoes in the Instant Pot with skins on. I fill the pot with potatoes, add 1-2 cups of water and cook 18 minutes...

You can put the broth cubes into reusable baggies to conserve space in the freezer. They won’t clump because they were frozen separately.Thanks for your content 👍

I'm not big on veggie choppers, but omg having a mandoline was amazing. If you do get one though, please, please, PLEASE buy a cut-proof glove to go with it. Both of my parents shaved bits of their fingertips off on it when I was little because the guard that comes with it is so bulky and ineffective and doesn't let you actually cut all your food, so you won't end up actually using it and you'll get hurt. The gloves are pretty cheap and comfortable and 1000x more effective than the guard or just trying to be careful

Dried beans all the way! Not only are they 5x less expensive (on average), some are hard to find in cans (looking at you lentils!), and you can't always get the no-salt-added versions.
@WholeheartedVegan2 жыл бұрын
All so true... In the UK, there doesn't seem to be salt in the beans so much, are you in the US? 😄

TIP NUMBER 16 ---- learn how to use a canner. you can make a large batch of veggie or onion stock and make them shelf stable for years. no need to use valuable freezer space. you can also make your own soy or almond or oat milk and can them to be shelf stable. of course you can also do veggies and fruits when they are in season.

Bought the Meal Plan Pack, really good thankyou, help me get organised. 15 months down the line I have lost 2 stones from your plan but I have noticed I am getting a bit blaze, eating too much convenience foods as manufacturers get cracking on making some super Vegan food. So, the Meal Planning will really help.

Loved this video, I will invest in the veggie chopper. I also freeze lemon juice and whole lemons once liquidised into tiny chunks . Cut Coriander stems also stays fresh in a glass of water as long as there is just the stalks submerged no leaves, just like flowers ,add a poly bag and a rubber band to fix it in place and they last weeks in the fridge.

Im worried about my iron can you tell me will I be iron deficient ? Im a new vegan Im so happy and so much more healthy I do take a multi vitamin just worry more about iron than protein do you think I’ll be ok?
@WholeheartedVegan2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on switching to veganism! I'm so happy for you. Yes, being careful around Iron is important - especially before menopause (if your profile pic is you, then you certainly are before menopause!!). Like anything, the quality of your diet will determine how much Iron you are getting, and I have spoken to quite a few women whose Iron went UP when they went Vegan. So eating lots of Iron rich vegan foods is certainly possible and delicious! If you are worried at all, you could speak with your DR, or simply buy an Iron spray ( these are far better than tablets in my experience) from the pharmacy. I use the Iron spray when I have my period. I like to donate blood, so I like to be very sure I am high in Iron. Have a read through this website on Iron, it's very good. www.vegansociety.com/resources/nutrition-and-health/nutrients/iron?gclid=CjwKCAjwu_mSBhAYEiwA5BBmfxjFgBAsT3mCwxLcmiXAk-lqLzthFF-mHXVLWrccUbJCHRytxxaoSBoCwwsQAvD_BwE
