Because if their supercars never break, there's nothing else to brag about in front of their friends. If you have a parking sensor failure on a Ford Fiesta it's no big deal, but on a $200K Ferrari, that's "tragedy". And be sure to let your friends, and especially colleagues at work, know how much more costs a simple part on a Ferrari compared to the same part on their everyday drivers.

Well here's the thing they quality is not bad. For example ever car needs and oil change in a Ferrari it's 600 instead of 50 cause they have to pull the engine. The cars are designed to be cheap to repair because if you own it you got the money to spend.

TheDroidKilla i assume so. Every car does. Regular cars are maybe 5 to 10 years 100kmiles or so. I suspect a ferrari costs more but for less miles. No way would they warranty 100k miles. The cost of warranty would be through the roof as repairs would be too so to offset the cost it has to be more. Im curious now what warranties are like for every exotic. Very curious for a mclaren F1

I would buy the oldest and highest mileage Ferrari that this warranty covers. I would add the warranty within minutes of transferring ownership. Then I would drive the car into the ground and put 500k miles on it just to prove a point. Ferrari's are reliable and can be used as daily drivers.
@bob8087 жыл бұрын
The trouble with McLaren is the limited production (compared to Lamborghini and Ferrari) and lack of independent shops for maintenance. Ferrari is only offering this '15' year warranty because the DCT makes them much more reliable and easier to maintain. (Maybe less or no engine out services for transmission problems). Buy a $100k-500k car and you literally have to spend a shit ton of money a year to maintain, things are always going bad or breaking. Yet you buy a Honda or Toyato and you can just do basic maintenance with no issues for a long time. Small parts breaking that cost like $500-1000 is idiotic even if you have the money, waste of value if the car is prone to issues
@JohnJames02047 жыл бұрын
Do you complain about buying a bottle of water for everyday in 10 years time? No, right? So it's the same with these people who owns exotic cars. They got the money to spend and they don't care because they make a lot more money and paying for repairs on their cars is cheap. They whine or complain but at the end of the day they can afford it because they don't make money like normal people do. Some parents buys a Honda or Toyota for their kids and some buys a Ferrari or Lamborghini so yeah go figure, some people just have more money than you do.
@FirearmTutorials7 жыл бұрын
The other thing to consider is the level of performance. Like everything else, to reach that extra 5% of performance over the 95% your cost is nearly exponential. The same is true with aesthetics, the leather and carbon fiber used by Ferrari will certainly cost more than those used by Chevy or Dodge. A good analogy would be men's suits. You can get $150 suit from a Macy's dept store. For all intensive purposes it works just as well as the $3500 Zenga suit, but the cost of materials is different. Some may see the quality in the Zenga, others may not.

1) You're overpaying for your watch service. 2) If you wait until it stops working you can have worn out some very pricey parts in that watch, don't wait for the service, it's like skipping oil changes and waiting for the engine to stop working.

Service your Panerai... don't wait for it to stop working thats a terrible idea. You're going to end up spending a much larger sum of money at once when it stops working rather than just spending a bit servicing it regularly. Plus when/if you try to sell it prospective buyers will certainly look into the service history.

Just for comparison purposes, I factory ordered my 2013 Z06 new. The dealer wanted to sell me, at a discount, a $2,750 extended warranty-5 years/75,000mi. I declined it. I now believe the HVAC system has developed a couple of issues. Depending on what's wrong, max repair would be $1500 (HVAC module-mode flow control door). I have over 65Kmi on the car. This is the first non road damage issue the car's had since new. Maybe they're not such junky cars as they're made out to be in the press?

Almost no successful company will ever offer you a warranty for a price that makes sound financial sense. They have a broad frame of reference to know exactly what it cost to maintain these cars or whatever it is that they happen to be selling and exactly the failure modes that they tend to have… And they can anticipate based on the data exactly how much it will cost them if an average number of users cash in on the warranty. Since they are in the business to make money, they will price the warranties accordingly. A good example is the fact that Apple will sell you an iPad in the $600-$800 range brand new, if you bring that iPad back to the Apple Store after a few years when it's out of warranty with the screen broken they will swap it out as an out of warranty replacement depending on its exact age in the neighborhood of $199-$250. That tells you how much of the price is their initial profit margin, development costs, and allocation for the warranty. Because they're able to sell you one of their leftovers which I was told was not a refurbished unit but Brand New in the box for about a third of what I originally paid. Now you have to be able to turn in your old unit to get that price, but that's a small matter. Imagine if the Ferrari dealer would give you 2/3 of the value for your Ferrari which you had totaled toward a brand new Ferrari… That would be about the same deal.
@Harrybawls697 жыл бұрын
It's stupid to pay those numbers for the 488 when it's selling for 250k in Europe and for 380k you can get yourself a very good Aventador.
