They look well adjusted and calm for Khaki Campbells. Most of the time I see them running around all energetic. I have Welsh Harlequins , which were bred from the Khakis, but they are a bit calmer in nature.

They get crazy when they're in the pool! That's when they'll fly in and out and run around like maniacs! Generally, though, they've been pretty chill!

My khaki Campbell flies, saw her traversing about 30-40 feet about 5-6 feet above the ground. She also likes to perch on a box where she can observe her surroundings. She's also the loudest with a wide range of vocalization. She struts around like she's the leader of the pack even though she's the smallest.

Where did you get that pen? Was it made locally? I'm talking to a welder about building something similar, but larger.

I bought two indian runner ducks about a month ago when they are about 4 weeks old. but i have a hard time taming them. i give them ton of bird food and even build a pond in my backyard for them. i really love them.. but they are very shy and always try to run away from me when i goes to pet them. I am feeling so bad. can you please suggest me some tips and ideas ? :(

Saniru, I raised my ducks from day-old hatchlings and they still run away from me when I approach them. Not sure about your breed, but I know that Khaki Campbell ducks do not like to be held or picked up or petted. They are not like "snuggly" mammals! Don't take it personally! That said, my ducks will follow me anywhere for dried mealworms! They're not cheap, but they're a great treat, and they will eat out of your hand. I use them to bring my ducks into their coop at night. I also find that if I sit quietly by them, they will come around to me, and even nestle and fall asleep around me (if I stay long enough!). I always walk very slowly around them, and I often will hum a song I sang when I first brought them home. Never startle them! When I go out in the morning to let them out of their coop, I announce myself before they see me. "Good morning, girls!" I also do that any other time I approach where they may be sleeping. I do hope this helps! Again, do not feel bad. I'm glad you have two ducks, as they do need the security of a buddy!

@@LaurelMcHargue I also like to give them dried worms but that will make me go brankrupt. :D so i give them chicken food. i think that they are scared of me because i brought them when they are in thier adolesecent when they are four weeks old. by the way they both are female ducks and that might also be a reason that they are shy.

@@Saniru_Kodithuwakku That could be true! Since I got mine when they were just born, I think they saw me as their "mother duck." Give your ducks time, and enjoy watching them! Mine started laying eggs at 5 months old, so you will enjoy their eggs too! They do not sit on them, though, like chickens do.
@Saniru_Kodithuwakku3 жыл бұрын
@@LaurelMcHargue yeah my friend. i also hear that they dont have maternal instincts to sit on them. by the way do you think that it is good to hold them forcefully on my lap to pet and hug them few minutes every day even though they tries their best to run away from me and scratching my legs with claws on their feet and quaking loudly to get them used to being handled by me and make them realize that i am not a threat to them ?

We have 5 and they are about 6 weeks old and at the end of there wings it looks like a skeleton. They are definitely changing but is this a natural process for their wings? Since all have it, we are not overly concerned. Thanks

I definitely saw more "quills" than pretty feathers when my girls started to grow theirs! Make sure they're getting duck food, and if you're using chicken feed, make sure to add niacin (I used Brewer's yeast...1 and 1/2 tablespoons per cup of poultry crumbles), which also ensures proper leg development! I haven't posted new videos in a while, so thanks for asking. Time to update everyone! My 5 gals are almost 5 months old now, and we're still waiting for their first eggs (so now I'm adding supplemental calcium in the form of dried, crushed eggshells, which they love)!

Thank you now im 99percent certain my lone 5weel old duck is a girl had a bad hatch only one made it. She bestfriends with a 7week ild bresse chicken. They are both in with 2 Araucanas and 2leghorns that ate 2weeks and think the duck is their mum all of them fit under her and she doesn't seem to mind! Don't worry i have 6 in the incubator now though late in the season i hope to get two or three that can hopefully join her before the spring!
