👍👍👍. I have no doubt you could bring it back to its former glory. But I don't think it would be worth the time, effort and cost. You have made the right decision. Thank you both.

Thanks Pete for watching.
@jasonyoung8584Ай бұрын
Yeah i would of passed on it too. Too much money would have to bring that camper up to date. Keep looking. I wish you guys luck.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Thanks 👍

I'm looking forward to your next camper project. They're the best.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Well it looks like we might have one coming up in the spring since we will probably do another cargo trailer build.
@carmenmariacortesmarin2664Ай бұрын
Very good decision. I do hope someone will let you know about one that's not so much work and money. Julie is looking so nicely. Good to see you. Stay safe you guys.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Hi Carmen, it was nice to actually see inside of one so we could get a feel for it , but i think we might just do another cargo trailer build so we could have it the way we want it, thanks for watching and take care.
@BigBonesBBАй бұрын
Agreed on passing on that Scamp better luck on next one Julie nailed right away it was a 👎
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Julie said she would fight me on buying that one lol.
@tonyborck3169Ай бұрын
I'm with your initial assessment with how much you'll have in repairs and time.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah too much work for us but maybe someone wouldn't mind fixing it up.
@joebacarella2829Ай бұрын
Kevin, you could do a year of videos on all the work that thing needs, flooring, new door, re figerglass the entire top, seems like every window leaked at some point, way too much work. Might as well spend the money up front on a nicer unit, your little trailer is beautiful.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah i agree too much work for us, we really like our camper and try to keep it in good condition but wanted something just a little bigger.
@kennethalmond8922Ай бұрын
Yea, a brand new 7 x 14 cargo trailer is currently $7600 in our area and would be easier to build out than fix something like this scamp. We did a 7 x 14 x 6 1/2ft hi cargo -> camper 4 years ago with full build out. Wound up 5300lbs fully loaded. 7ft wide is OK but I can't help but wonder about 8ft wide. We did a simple pole and tarp system that let's us deploy the tailgate (ramp style) as a sealed / weatherproof 6 x 6 bedroom giving us 7 x 20ft overall. 7 x 14 is a good size to get into the smaller campsites. Look forward to following you're journey on this!
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
We would like to do a 6x14 cargo trailer because my truck is just a toyota tacoma so i have to watch the weight doesn't get too heavy.
@frank_IIIАй бұрын
We viewers vote that you build a bigger camper using a larger cargo trailer....
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Frank, we are kind of leaning that way on building another one , that way we can do what we want with it.
@frank_IIIАй бұрын
@@Robinson-Homestead If you do, cant wait for the content. The first video of yours I watched was when you installed a black tank in your existing camper. Been a sub since.
@MrSTOUT73Ай бұрын
I would definitely pass on that one. You might also consider Casita, similar to the Scamp.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah we also thought about the casita, we are also thinking about doing another cargo trailer only a little bigger one this time.
@frankcarrerejrАй бұрын
That definitely be a lot of work to get it in good shape.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
I think we're going to build.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Cargo trailer.
@donaldscoville274911 күн бұрын
agree let it go. Door is terrible, floor is bad. It is clear this person didn't properly take care of it.
@BigBonesBBАй бұрын
There's One in Wendell Massachusetts that's Western Mass on Craigslist Kevin
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
How much for that one ? I think we are going to build another cargo trailer but bigger.
@BigBonesBBАй бұрын
@Robinson-Homestead The Gentlemen was asking $10,500.00 in his craigslist ad

I bought a 1984 Burro very similar to the scamp. It had been somewhat restored had a salvage title got into it for 4500 took it across country from Georgia to Idaho and back through the lower south west I had visions of restoring it however it became a money pit and I sold it, my opinion if you are already familiar with converting our building travel Camper from cargo or travel trailers I would do that again. Also, the mounting of the air conditioner is the best for those fiberglass campers. I had one mount of all the top and they are very unstable and dangerous as they are not designed to hold them. At least the older ones aren’t. Stay Away!
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing William.
@TheWoodHavenАй бұрын
Any one of those issues by itself is not that bad, but there are a lot of issues with that camper. Good to see the size and layout though.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah Daryl it was nice to see one in person but way to many issues for me.
@johnlarch5300Ай бұрын
I sold one a little smaller but in better shape than that for $300.00.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Oh man that sounds like a good deal someone got lucky.
@withLulimakesthreeАй бұрын
Yeah guys. Keep searching for another one.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
We are for sure thanks for watching.
@280zoneАй бұрын
Agree with the others, this isn't the right one. The overall structure of the fiberglass tub is compromised.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah it was too far gone and i think it would take too much money and time to get it back to good condition.
@davek6630Ай бұрын
The damage you see, is probably twice as bad after you tear into it!
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
Yeah i agree we don't mind some work but that one needed more than we were willing to put int to it.
@johnlarch5300Ай бұрын
I'd give him $100.00 for it.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
We didn't want to offend anyone so we didn't even make an offer.
@patrickkamer3924Ай бұрын
Run away from that, floors bad, roofs bad, and in between has lipstick.
@Robinson-HomesteadАй бұрын
After checking out the scamp i think we will build another cargo trailer so it will have what we want and need.
