I(NTJ) actually tend to max out space on a profile because it's more efficient long-term. Yes, one has to spend time writing it out, editing, re-editing, etc. BUT... really taking the time to be alone in self-reflection while productively making a profile tends to save a lot more time in the long-run. By giving a representative multi-dimensional overview of yourself before the first message is even exchanged, you create a filter that saves you from wasting excessive time and social energy on matches with low-probability of lasting compatibility. Meanwhile, those that do like what they read wind up engaging with more enthusiasm and come equipped with multiple known topics of interest. Some caveats: - The first block of text should be short and introduce yourself generally and in as few words as possible (while still showing some personal style). For example, I tend to open with "Idiot, Intellect, INTJ". After that, you continue injecting more personal style/humor as you gradually ramp up in depth and breadth. (Within reason, of course. Though, what's "reasonable" is ultimately your call.) - By the end of the profile, you want to have given a good representative sample of your character, not the whole of your being, if that's even possible. - Always be sure to omit identifiable details, including dates, addresses, and names of orgs/institutions, family, associates, etc. Focus on helping the reader to flesh out an accurate image of you as a character study, not as a dossier. - This only works when trying to find something meaningful. Both you AND the person you seek should have an appreciation for intuitive depth and have above-average levels of curiosity. Otherwise, use different methods. Why do I share this? Because the world would be a better place with more-meaningful connections and fewer names to remember if more people wrote profiles with the aim of giving a good, truthful, realistically-multidimensional represention of themselves. Also, I'm kinda bored right now; NGL.

as an entp, the captions for our part were super fun! they made me feel happiness ❤❤❤❤ oh, who am i kidding. can we really even define happiness? is happiness defined as an abundance of positive emotions, or as a lack of negative ones? where does "fun" land on that spectrum? the terms can even work against each other - sometimes doing fun things can lower our overall happiness, while things that are miserably boring can raise our happiness in the long run. therefore using those terms to describe anything is unclear at best. and what about the subjevtivity of- *gets shot by an SJ type*

Sorry ENTP, but the INTP is calling out your logic lol. Happiness has to be a presence of something, because an absence is insubstantial. Let's have a conversation about the nature of nonexistence. The absence of negative emotions is a lack of negative emotions, which means that no negative emotions are present within the system. An abundance of positive emotions is the presence of positive emotions, which means that positive emotions are indeed present within the system. You can't draw a conclusion from only negative premises. If there is only an absence, then one cannot say that the absence of something is necessarily the presence of something else. There may be other ways that that thing may be present. Or that thing might not be present at all. You can only say that something that is not there is not there. So happiness has to be the presence of positive emotions. It at least can't be the absence of negative ones.
@fghsrgu11002 жыл бұрын
I would point out, fellow NTP, that something that exists doesn't mean necessarily the presence of something. For example, shadow exists, but shadow is only the absence of light because light has been blocked by an object (at least partially). The same goes for cold, wich is the absence of heat. I think happiness in the life satisfaction sense can therefore be defined as the lack of constant negative emotions and the presence of (not necessarily abundant) positive emotions.

Since we’re discussing emotions here, let me speak as an INFP who has put a lot of thought into feelings. First off, I would say that happiness isn’t necessarily the absence of negative emotions. Even if you don’t feel sad, anxious, overwhelmed, etc, you might not be feeling happy. Happiness can sometimes, but not always be experienced in other feelings, such as excitement or gratitude. I think happiness can be defined in two ways: the emotion and overall happiness. For example, maybe I didn’t “feel” great today but my overall satisfaction with life is good. Or the opposite if I am happy in the moment but whatever I’m doing has negative consequences that lead me to feel unhappy later. As far as happiness relates to fun, I think its hard to have fun and not feel happy, but I can definitely remember times in my life that I was doing something fun but did not feel happy for whatever reason. tldr: Happiness is nuanced

As an INTJ, I find the ISTJ’s direct approach relatable. I consider my actions in terms of getting closer to achieving my life goals, one of which is admittedly to raise a family. As for the INTJ part, I also find that quite relatable. My INTJ friend and I have conducted several surveys on various subjects related to dating, and have even used that data to construct a weighted formula that considers around 18 traits a person possesses, to determine on average how appealing a person is, as a potential partner, to the opposite sex (the weights being different for men and women). Of course, the whole process lacked the vigor of a proper academic study, but nonetheless proved a valuable and enjoyable experience. I have admittedly also considered in the past, simply grabbing a clipboard, and walking up to 100 girls, beginning with the premise that I am conducting a survey (which is true), asking them a few questions for grouping purposes (such as age, student/ employment status, etc), before simply asking them if they would like to go out with me. The expectation would be rejection, but the goal of the survey itself would have been a desensitization to rejection/ interactions of that nature. I have not carried this survey out, for a variety of reasons, including to an extent my better judgment, and the concern someone might actually say yes, at which point I would be uncertain how to proceed. Full disclaimer, I have never dated, and will likely never use online dating.
@Noone-sr3ks2 жыл бұрын
Just out of interest, what is the formula you constructed? I get your point about not being sure what to do when someone says yes, but it would still be an interesting social experiment.
@thomasswrisky67342 жыл бұрын
@@Noone-sr3ks essentially, we conducted several targeted surveys online, asking men and women (separately) to rank the importance of around 18 traits on a discrete scale of 1 to 4 (we decided a continuous scale left things to wide open, as there is no objective difference between a 2, and a 2.5, and it made data analysis easier. We also decided against a larger scale for similar reasons). Based off of that data, we determined weight for each of the traits, ranging from 1 to 4. A person could either rate the self on the roughly 18 traits to derive a value, or instead give their own weights for the 18 traits, and use it to assess potential partners based off of their own self rating (or in theory, averages of ratings by others on the 18 traits). There was more to it than that, but all of this was over three years ago now.

@@aaliyahkishore246 That is a fair question. I will endeavor to answer it as best I can. Firstly, raising a family is one of the most fulfilling ventures I can possibly imagine. You are correct in all of your points about the hardships of raising children, the costs, and the risks. But in my mind, the benefits outweigh the costs. I admit I am fortunate to have had excellent parents, imperfect though they may be. Even through difficult times, crises, and tight budgets, we persevered. I could ask little more of them. My father especially was, and continuous to be incredible, and I admire him greatly (I am aware of the myriad reasons I would be biased in my admiration). So one might say my own father’s excellence has inspired me to want to be as good as a father as he has been. For reference, he was a highschool teacher for over 20 years, and ran an alternative program for students with drug issues, anger issues, or other factors that made them poor fits for the regular program. He never gave out homework, and could relate with the students, as he was much like them when he was younger. He was also homeless at 17, and as a result, has had huge impacts on various fundraisers to help the homeless across the years, even attempting to break the world record for a food drive, and in doing so filling up several 18 wheelers full of food, all over the course of a few weeks. Another point, young though I still may be, I have spent time working, spent time studying (quite a lot at this point). I have achieved success, being invited to present at conferences, winning competitions, completing creative projects (from published written work to award nominated short films), managing to save a sum of money I am proud of. But of all I have done, it is in my role as a teacher, mentor, and coach to adolescents and young adults that I have derived the most fulfillment. To watch a young persons self confidence improve, their skill increase, them to grow as a person, and know that I have aided in that, even sometimes being personally thanked by the kids themselves, and their parents, it simply means an incredible amount to me. No matter if I may have been exhausted from a long day, or stressed, every opportunity I have to teach, coach and mentor the young people I work with invigorates me, and leaves no question as to whether the travel time, the loss of leisure or productivity, was worthwhile. On the topic of opportunity cost, while it is a certainty that raising children will consume much time that may be spent on other things, whether it be leisure, or productivity. If someone is to have children, the children must be the priority. I do not however believe that there is a dichotome that must exist between having children, and career progression/ other achievements. In fact, having children is a strong motivator to work even harder, and be even more successful. Parenting works best with teamwork from two parents. Done correctly, sufficient time exists to cover the requirements of children, as well as sufficient work to provide for a family, although it will likely require creativity, and budgeting at times. This has admittedly only gotten more difficult financially in recent years, but I still believe it is possible with the steps I have taken, and the connections I have made thus far. Ultimately, I am not overly concerned about lacking money, or support. In summary, I can and will achieve my ambitions, while also raising a family, and I will have zero regrets about the decision to have a family “limiting” what I may otherwise have been able to achieve. On my deathbed, my children will likely be more important to me than even perhaps the most fulfilling career. Another reason is related to having a legacy. I am one human being who’s time on this earth is finite. From childhood, I have sought to leave a lasting positive impact on the world, and that has not changed. This can be achieved in a myriad of ways, and I intend to do so, but one chief way is through raising a family, giving my children as good of an upbringing as possible, passing on the knowledge and skills that I can, and hopefully passing on the desire to want to help others improve. Sure, one might be critical of my desire to pass on my genes, my own genetic code, and that of all my ancestors who have come before me, but it is nonetheless something I seek to do. In a sense, it is my only path to immortality (at least literally speaking), and one that I can be content with. So to summarize this imperfect expression of my thoughts, I want to raise a family because I can think of little else more fulfilling. I want put them first, give them the best upbringing possible, see them succeed and flourish, and take pride in all their accomplishments, big and small. I want to teach them what I can (hopefully critical thinking), and accept if they end up having different views and beliefs than my own. I want to pass on the desire to help others, and improve the world. I want my children to surpass me in every way imaginable, and in doing so, contribute more positive change to the world than I possibly could have on my own. I also need heirs for once I become supreme leader of the world.

(INTJ) I actually created a urmytype profile a couple of days ago, just to see what it was like. I simply wrote in the bio that I was just checking the app out. I put a snow mountain as my photo. I got a like from an ISFP.

Oh the ISFP not knowing what to write and just mentioning something they like is too real lol I also end every thought with an emoji, oops.

As an INFJ, I don't think I could ever summon up enough courage to use a dating app. It would make me feel so vulnerable.
@jacobcharleszimmerman79342 жыл бұрын
The INTP's life long struggle against key boards in the captions was great! Also, my dating app bio would be nothing, because dating apps are a waste of time. (this is supposed to be a reference to a previous Kristin video.) But I might get desperate enough to get on a dating app some day, we'll see.

ESTP here, but I honestly related to the ISTP and the ENTJ the most 😂 probably too proud to do it for any other reason than losing a bet. Actually as I was watching this I was secretly thinking it would be fun, but I’d have to think of some way to make a bet to get my friend to do it and then offer to “do it together.” Just for solidarity, of course. Not cause I wanted to or anything, don’t be silly… 🙄😂

My profile would be: "If you're an idiot in any way, shape or form, please DO NOT BOTHER." I'm INTP-T btw, did you think i was a TJ?
@ElizabethWalters-yk4ui7 ай бұрын
It does have some reminiscent TJ to it though as an Enfj I kinda think I would somewhat be able to see through that lol. Just for fun, you can always try to add something punctual at the end like "Kind regards." or "Thank you for your cooperation." also sorry this is like a year later I just wanted to pop in and say something. :)

I haven't resorted to dating apps yet. I've got mad texting anxiety, an incredible talent for ghosting, and an irrational fear that whatever messages I send can and will be used against me in a court of law. And seeing as I'm not hot enough to date anybody in real-life, I just don't see how romance is possible in this economy. :/ So, I've resigned myself to being pleasantly lonely until I evolve into Mad Madam Mim (minus magic). 👍 I love all your videos and watch them religiously, Kristen! Always funny and creative! Keep up the great work!!

My old dating profile said, “I don’t know how to describe myself, because different people perceive me differently. You’re better off meeting me, and not waste time. You’ll either like me or hate me. If I don’t like you I will tell you if I like you or not. I always pay for MY bill on a date with someone I don’t know… so you don’t need to feel obligated to pay for me, especially if we don’t connect. My expectations for you are: You have a job. You don’t choose some fast food joint. You show up on time. If you’re later than 20 minutes… I won’t stick around and don’t expect me to call you after that. “

Yeah...I downloaded the app...but haven't opened it yet because I don't want to fill out those boxes that say "Tell everyone about yourself." I have half a mind to write down "I collect Spores, Molds and Fungus." And if understood that reference, then congrats, you pass the first test. - An INTP *Also please buy a phone case, they are worth the money so that unless you drop your screen directly on a sharp rock your screen is not going to get chip or shatter. Hey youtube commenters! I just wanted to mention again that Kristin has a patreon goal that when she hits 500 patrons she's going to make "16 Personalities In A Musical." Let's make that happen! Even if you can't afford the lowest patreon tier, I'm sure a custom pledge of any size would help her achieve her goal of becoming a full time content creator. Even a dollar would help! So, if her content entertains you, or enriches your life in some way, please consider donating!

As an INTJ, I will confirm the only reason I would get on a dating app is for research. Losing a bet is also a possibility too. My INFP husband hated the idea of online dating so he and I are pretty glad we found each other in person. Lol.

I'm an ISTP who voluntarily posted some profiles on a couple dating apps. (I'm at the point in life I know I'm lonely so I'd might as well try & do something about it, although I really don't want to). Anyway, I decided to make it a game & made a couple pop-culture references & said if you get these, then respond. No one did, lol. Profiles deleted. Y'all suck, lol . . . btw, Kristin, bold of you to assume we ISTPs would place a bet we could lose...yeah dog, no . . . lol

Kristin, you never seize to amaze me. I do, in fact open the dating app, use it for couple of weeks, all my hopes for humanity (especially the male side) goes down, delete the app, say I won't bother, and after a while open it again when bored. Let's see. I opened new one this month, November. Last time I used was probably July. So.. about 5-6 months has to pass in order for me to make a new profile. You know me too well!

I'm an ENFP... I am not a native english speaker. My native language is greek and I gotta say that my writing is great (IDEALLY when it comes to spelling, which on this video appears not to be on point for the ENFP). I'm studying electrical engineering. I pretty much had to develop my writing skills, since I was a perfectionist before. (Now I just try my best and accept that it's ok if things are not perfect, that's just too much pressure to put on someone... But that doesn't mean that you should stop trying. Always keep trying and you will improve) That comes to say that if you are an ENFP it doesn't really mean that you are bad at writing...

I don't particularly enjoy the idea of online dating. I would much rather prefer we meet somewhere organically. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. As such, I wouldn't really write a biography for that purpose. But if I were to do so, I would emphasize the need for open communication, trust and empathy in a relationship. I would be looking for a long-term relationship, preferably life-long. I would not be open to compromising on that front, I want a future family, not a body-pillow. I love my friends and family, and anyone who is willing to be a friend. I enjoy talking to people, whether they are known or unknown. You can't really make new friends without risking a talk with a stranger, now can you? I can get lost in my dreams from time to time, seeing what could be awaiting us. I can be stubborn, especially when it comes to my principles. Two examples. I will not shave my mustache, should I ask of you, whether you should shave your eyebrows? I can of course trim it to a style, same as when I or you pluck our eyebrows. Yes, I was that nerd that reminded the teacher to check the homework in school. Why? In essence, I seek to learn. Because it takes 5 minutes to do it, and it's for our own betterment, if you personally haven't done it, the only one who suffers is yourself, I personally would like feedback so I can continue to improve, instead of just coasting by. I seek to learn from my education, not to get through it. I love sweets, particularly baked goods and tea, it makes for an excellent companion to my reading, speaking of: I enjoy reading and playing strategic board-games. It's hard to boil down which is my favourite genre of reading, as I enjoy anything from technical books about wood-working to fantasy to historical prose or other historical works, currently I'm reading the works of Mencius, enjoyable so far! Boardgame-wise I enjoy anything from Scrabble to Ticket-to-ride, but my all time favourite has got to be Settlers of Catan. As of this moment I am but a humble student taking a masters degree within forestry, working as a farm-hand on the side. I worked previously as a farmhand at another farm, and as an assistant at a garden-center before I started my studies. I aim to own my own house, and with some help perhaps make it a home. I love a well kept garden! I hope to have my own rose-garden in the future, the more intense the rose-smell the better! I very much so, am fond of, and have grown up with, animals all around. As such I am very much open to taking care of any animal under the sun, whether that be farm- or non-productive animals. But I am most fond of sheep, such lovely creatures as they graze in the summer sun. It should be noted, I have no sheep as of this moment. Overall I have been told I have an old soul, I have heard jokingly from some of my friends that they're convinced I never was a child, and that I was simply born an adult. I view myself as a people-lover, who also loves peace and quiet. I am no expert traveler, far-away is good, but home is certainly best. Then again, I am not opposed to enjoying the ride if you love to travel, just don't expect me to be very used to planning trips and destinations. I hope to find someone who I can enjoy the smell of roses with, drinking tea overlooking our garden, reading some good books and having deep conversations with. Having guests over to play board-games or to join in the book-club. Having friends over for dinner, laughter echoing through the halls. I hope for that person to be out there. Perhaps you would like to join me? And look at that, an entire biographical novel. Ah well, it's good to have it down on paper somewhere. If I ever start online-dating I'll use this. I'm currently sick, so maybe the time I have afforded to me allows me to dream away unbounded more so than usual. Nice video Kristin, lovely change of pace.

@@feles_optimae_sunt Why thank you Abigail! I certainly hope so myself! Thouroughness is also an aspect I forgot to include ironically. I'd rather it be done properly than not. Even if I'll never date online, to write a biography in a half-assed manner is an insult to those who actually take the time to do so. I'm glad I come across as fascinating haha! Thank you very much for the compliment, my new friend! To get compliments from strangers always brings a smile to my face. To think someone I don't know took the time to appreciate something I did, it reminds me of the beauty of the internet and of society in general. I hope you have a wonderful day hence my friend!
