Hi Clancy! My 15-year-old dog passed away yesterday, and I'm heartbroken. My husband surprised me with breakfast in bed this morning, and put on your latest video on my iPad to try and lift my spirits a little. It's not quite working yet, but it's definitely entertaining me, so thank you for that!

I dont have credit card debt. Never did. If I can’t pay cash I don’t buy it. I don’t eat out or do any Uber eats or door dash. I don’t need clothes. I paid my home off in half the time. I don’t drink or smoke. No gym membership. Sounds boring but it’s a stress free way of living. I have a pool, we swim and play games. I have two large dogs that I walk or hike with. We go on road trips in the RV. I do not get my nails done. I got my eyebrows tattooed, eyeliner er and lips. In a dr office setting. So I spend money every other year for touch up. I e always been prepared for the rainy day or the crash of society. I grew up poor, and my parents grew up in full blown depression. I instilled in my children to save for that rainy day. Everything I own is paid for. I am truly blessed. Thank the Lord for guiding me long with a strong work ethic.

My husband and i do, what we call, the wait method. If we soemthing new, no matter what it is. We dont buy it. We save it, and if in a month we still really want it then we get it. But 95% of the time we realize it was a waste and we didnt really want it. We just got caught by impulse marketing.

My husband and I did the Dave Ramsey financial freedom thing in 2007 and got completely debt free and saved $17,000 in less than two years. We started out by both of us writing down everything....we were shocked in the amount of money that we were pissing away on the little things. The habits we learned back then have saved us a ton over the last ten years.

I’m wondering if you’ve calculated the savings by also subtracting the cost of the replacements. Like instead of nail salon, you do press ons, and instead of coffee shops you use your machine at home. Did you factor in those costs? Also try thrifting for certain things! Clothing is so much cheaper and you can find new with tags if you look around.

Thank you Clancy! Praying for a healthy and safe delivery (when it's time). My advice you never asked for, bring a folder to the hospital. Like one for school with pockets/prongs. They give you lots of info making your baby a legal person and you'll have a place to put it, along with discharge info, appointment cards etc. Then when baby is older you can use it to store SS Card, Birth Certificate, Immunization record etc 🩵💙🩵💙

Hey Clancy! All great tips. I don't believe in car payments either so I end up keeping cars for at least 10 years. Also, the biggest tip I give to folks is if you enjoy fitness and have some free time, work some part-time hours at a gym. There are part-time positions available at the YMCA and other gyms. They don't pay a lot, but the membership is FREE!
@jad81233 ай бұрын
I think it’s all relative. Some people don’t order food out but might buy lottery tickets. Some might don’t buy new clothes each week (I don’t) but some might have a gym membership. I will say the one thing everyone could do is not use credit cards unless you pay in full each month. I think people get so far in with credit debt that they don’t how to get out of it. On a side note you look pretty in your dress. You & Zac (and, Asher) must be very excited.

Wholeheartedly agree with all of these! I would add alcohol to that, but luckily I am allergic, so I don’t have to deal with it. I would also add eyelashes. No one actually cares about your nails (only that they are neat & clean) and no one cares about your lashes either! Do it for you, not for others, but don’t weigh your self-esteem on whether or not your lashes & nails are done! 🤷🏻♀️

For your baby, it probably is worth to buy organic. They eat so little that it doesnt make that big difference and they are more affected with pesticides etc. We NEVER buy organic for us (unless it is on a sale that makes it same or cheaper than regular version) but for our baby we buy organic fruit and veggies where organic version is available for his homemade purees. I just go off discounts (where possible, I buy regular priced as well for the sake of continuing the process of new food introduction ofc) and make a large batch of puree and freeze it in ice cube tray for storing. Still cheaper than the food jars and much better taste for him. :)

I completely agree with all of this. Especially books and nails - LOVE them but the cost is just so hard to justify!! The only thing I mightttt disagree on is a gym membership because it can be so easy to put off working out when you can do it "anytime" at home and then you just never do it. Sometimes having paid for a membership/class adds enough motivation to use it/get your money's worth, and long term that's going to be better for your health and well being, especially when there are some pretty reasonable options out there, like blink, planet fitness, class pass is a bit more expensive but again, if you're not picky and like switching things up, the commitment to a time is helpful so it can definitely be worth it. One thing I also hate paying for is breakfast at a restaurant. It usually isn't anything special and doesn't taste better than what you can make at home, it's the easiest meal to make at home, doesn't involve a lot of ingredients, and would probably cost you $2.50 instead of $25... the mark up on breakfast is particularly insane IMO. A social event every once in a while is fine, but being mindful not to do it just out of boredom or habit when it doesn't add any extra value to your life can really add up.

One thing that I did at the beginning of the year was to DOWNGRADE a ton of my subscriptions. $17 a month for Netflix is insane, but $7 is doable. Same with Disney+, etc. Yes, now you have ads and can't share on as many devices, but depending on your usage it could work. And there actually aren't a crazy amount of ads! I also dropped the extra coverage that I had gotten on my phone when I had gotten it years back... switched my electricity to comfort billing (but knowing that it could get reassessed at the beginning of the next year). I cut my husband and 2 sons hair because $20+ per person per month-2 months is insanity!

I am also feeding tube reliant into small intestines stomach paralyzed. I get a drink every evening from Tim Hortons or Starbucks. I can have liquids but not solid food and I struggle with eating in the evenings so I have a drink every evening because it helps me. I also do little things that cost more money but I have too things like in out of coffee creamer I go ti the gas station because I can’t walk the whole grocery store for one thing it saves energy so while it’s a bit more it’s what works for me in daily life

You know what’s crazy? Me eating at work, actually SAVES me money. Cause, my company subsidizes plant based food 100%. So instead of meal prepping for 2 people, per week, when my husband wasn’t laid off, we would save more money. I’m actually sad that I won’t be able to have free lunch on my maternity leave lol.

One that came to mind was hair removal or razors. Safety razors are a better investment for the plant and purchasing blades is like a few dollars depending on the one you get. Either that or IPL devices as that’s a one time purchase. And Ulike has a device that can cover a broader range of skin and hair.

Also, if you don't have it, you can load 2 separate library cards to your Libby account. For example, I have my local county library as well as the main Cincinnati library. You just need a driver's license from NKy or anywhere in OH to get a Cincinnati main library card. The main Cincinnati library will have much better hold times. Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, 19th in line at Cincinnati main and 1,158 in line at my local library, saving me several months of wait times. Since they are e-books, it literally doesn't matter. I will check both and pick the shortest wait.

Clancy, great advice. on the nails. You mentioned you only buy clothes that are on sale. Yet I see you shop for clothes quite frequently. How much of those clothing items are an absolute need verses a want. If you truly want to save money on clothing, then give it a monthly budget amount. Also, remove one clothing item every time you come home with a new item.. then donate it or sell it. If you sell it, then take the sale $ and add it to pay off your house faster. Consider doing a video of an entire month of not purchasing any new clothes. You could inspire others to save even more. You can always wait till after the baby is born to do a no shopping for an entire month. Btw, you look amazing in blue.
