I used to work for a well known o gynecologist in Beverly Hills and I would often wonder how do these women keep their skin looking flawless? One day I got up the nerve to ask a patient whose skin was flawless I mean she barely had any wrinkles..and she was 80 years old. I thought for sure she can afford really expensive creams, dermatologist but what she said to me completely shocked me. Her secret nighttime routine was using VASELINE!!! 🙈 she would wear bold statement necklaces and would wear her clothes with so much confidence but her best assets was her sweet and humble heart. I totally agree with all your tips. My number one tip I will give you is to draw closer to God. The Joy of The Lord is our strength and that’s how I wake up every morning regardless how I wake up feeling I stay grateful every morning. Gratitude will outshine anything. Stay active even in the winter when we can’t go outside grab stretching bands or if you can afford a total gym machine do Pilates. When possible go for a walk or ride a bike..remember that when we have Jesus dwelling in our hearts we cannot fear the future ☺️❤️🙏

I can’t imagine that as an influencer, you are allowed to age gracefully! Some viewers can be so cruel in their comments! Another influencer I watch is a gorgeous 60 something and recently decided she was going to let her dyed hair grow out. Due to the mean comments she received, she changed her mind! We women need to be more understanding and respect other women’s’ choices whether it is plastic surgery or just allowing nature to take her course! Excellent topic Kay!

I agree. Sadly, though, it's hard to see this range of choices on social media or KZbin. It doesn't reflect the real world in any way. I find, the less I view unrealistic examples of aging on the screen, the less the ideas and suggestions around that pop into my brain. When I'm lovin' on my family and friends, volunteering, whatever I'm doing, noone cares about my wrinkles & grey hair. People are invested in me for more than physical perfection. Kay's tips are health & happiness promoting, without being shallow.

😖 Discovered that people, esp. women, have pretty strong ideas about hair color (& style) too. In fact, the ladies seem quick to discuss what doesn't work & why in great depth😭. Worse, we 🤜bash🤛 things that might not suit our personal standards of taste, but can still be considered attractive. 🤗Started going gray around the very front in a thin line of hair that framed my face @ 30. I have very fine hair, but I proudly called this layer my 🦁mane. Honestly, it's such that if I pulled my hair up w/a clip or headband, you would boldly see it. If I wore it down, only hints of it would 👀peek through. My 💗beloved mother had been extremely upset😱 about this shocking development. Mostly, bcos she said it "aged" her. Although she didn't object quite as much when my slightly older brother started on his own amazing color journey about that same time. 😉When I went to donate my hair to make wigs for ill kids, the clerk said they didn't accept dyed hair. Now, it was true that my dark brown hair had auburn highlights in it. She just didn't believe🤣 it was a naturally occurring phenomenon. 🤨In fact, she remained highly skeptical when I said it routinely gets bleached by the LA sun😎. Left my hair au naturale for the next decade, but eventually did dabble in some 🖌️non-permanent hair color. (My gray mane would turn reddish with dye around my face.) Seeing the gray gone pleased my 😘mom. 🤗When I decided to let my own hair go natural again, I took a lot of flack from the ladies😔. Rather startling how many strangers liked to share their totally unsolicited opinions on the subject too. The females were 💯% negative. Although some were far less harsh than others.😏Looking young is highly coveted here, so I didn't take it too personal. ✂️The girls & the gays wanted me to hack it off too. The heterosexual males were surprisingly positive about my multi-shaded brown hair (& longer length). 🥳The difference is that the disapproving men in this category never bothered to say it. 👏 Late 50s now, my "mane" has morphed into pure white. The majority remains varying shades of brown with a few threads of gray, but I still don't make any effort to hide it. 🤩Just remain thankful for every single strand! Since my mom passed in 2000, whenever a woman brought the subject up, I'd treat it as if she was sending nudges🙆‍♀️ from the beyond🌌. Whenever I get a compliment, esp. directed rather surprisingly from a younger man, I chalk it up to 🥰God simply wanting to bolster my spirits that day. 🏆Win-win! It's perfectly fine to color your hair or change it's structure (from straight to curly or vice versa). I fully understand why all the reasons ppl do these things, but I decided it's no longer right for me. In the end, I'd rather not be chastised for opting out. A part of me feels sad about ppl that chase extremes in cosmetic surgery, but I don't believe in shaming those who decide to get a nip or tuck here or there. To each their own. I admire ppl that put tremendous effort into their beauty routine in order to get influencer/model/celebrity quality hair, skin, face & physique. I just decided to scale down my own regimen. There came a point, I no longer wished to use excessive make-up, chemical treatments, or force my hair to do what it clearly wasn't meant to do on a daily basis. I don't hold myself in higher esteem for deciding to go a more minimal route, but neither do I wish to be disgraced for it. I believe there's room for all sorts of style & beauty in this world🌎. How boring it would be if we all looked the same! 💚 Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I love Kay’s philosophy - instead of trying to desperately hold on to one’s youth, accept that you will grow older and look older. Just look your best for whatever age you are. Kay has grace and poise and this accentuates her “total package” and helps her to look lovely and glowing. She has the right approach!

There are groups for women travelling. You can scope them out or get a travel buddy. Single supplements can be a pain, but if you have a roomie that you can travel with. You can do a shortie trip…weekend or something similar to see if you are compatible. I have longtime friend who lives in Ireland and I visit her and we do a girlie city break…London, Paris, Malaga etc. I also roomed with a guy I know well on a trip to Italy… no romantic stuff, just friends and we did fine both interested in history and art. I know that one is a toughie, but we got on great and there were no problems. Or if you have grown kids….I loved travelling with my mother. We had a lot of fun! Good luck. Things will be different without your husband but new adventures can be ahead. Take care.

Thank you for reminding me that I don’t need to give up as I get older. I’m approaching 70, recently retired, and single. I think we need to decide to age gracefully, and that’s what I choose. The past 2 years have been tough, first injuring my ankle, then quarantine. I was very active before the ankle injury and even after it healed, the quarantine set in, so I stopped being active and taking care of myself. Once ‘bad habits’ set in, they are hard to break, but today I will start working on ‘good habits’.

I needed this so very much. I just turned 56 and I say I don't want to look 25 or even 30, that I just want to look good at whatever age I am, but keeping that mindset is hard, especially in a "youth obsessed" world. The one thing I try to do each day, however, is spread joy to at least one person a day. It's amazing the "youthful" feeling you get from doing good. Thank you for your videos. I can't wait each week for a new one to come out.

Good morning, Kay! Usually your awesome blog/video information is like beautiful home decor....it makes our "homes" attractive and inviting to others. (While always grounded with the BFMD pieces).... Then days like today, it's about the architecture. Structural info to give us firm foundational stones to build from. I am so grateful to be blessed by the work God does through you! I love pretty curtains, but the structure holding them needs to be strong and secure, or they just won't hang right. So glad you don't lose sight of balancing the frills with sound floor joists (ha!) Much love and prayers. You are a GIFT

I recently discovered Dressed for My Day and can't thank you enough, Kay, for sharing your beauty and fashion tips, as well as your faith. You absolutely nailed it with your tips for aging gracefully, and throughout my journey, I've tried to abide by every one of them. As a retired teacher/high school administrator, I continue to substitute teach. During the pandemic, I covered a teacher's 5-month maternity leave and taught 6th graders every day in person. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career! Not only did I enjoy the students and the camaraderie of younger teachers, but I continued to learn new teaching techniques and technologies. Thanks for your encouragement!

Thank you for focusing as much on the inner person as the outer. I've always said I'll never lie about my age, because that would be like saying that God made a mistake by giving me certain years, and I've learned from all of them - especially the hard ones!

My tip: Boom Stick Trio is a very simply cosmetic system for the over fifty crowd. Kay, your are an encouragement to me as I turn 57 this month. You have encouraged me to keep putting effort in and showing up in peoples lives, even though I have daily migraines (yes, daily) and am mostly at home. I refuse to limit my wardrobe to sweatsuits and try to pull together a look that wears well even though I lie down a lot throughout the day. Through your help, I have upped my game with my hair, cosmetics, and style. My adult daughters are always brightened up to see my increased effort. It shows I’m not giving up. Praise Jesus in all circumstances. 😃

I loved this topic so much! Lots of food for thought for me, especially about giving grace and "putting feet" to those good intentions. I have felt a bit convicted to volunteer in a local senior center, but I have been telling God "but I'm not great with older folks." I am a nurse, a pediatric nurse by choice for all of my nursing career because I love kids and I know God led me there. However, God is telling me that I need to share my love of card making with the folks at my senior center. He has already put this on my heart and hearing you say it is the push I needed. It's officially going on my short "to do" list to meet with the activity director and find out if there is a place for me to get busy and share my crafty hobby and engage with my older boomer generation. God Bless you Kay, thanks for sharing what was on your heart!

I just turned 52 on October 6. I love the fact that I can see my mother's and my grandmothers' features in my face and body when I look in the mirror. With each year, I am that much closer to retiring from my job. It's also nice that I have a twin sister to share in the aging process. My clothing style is classic and casual. I finally invested in 2 pairs of leather loafers that will last me years instead of inexpensive flats I've purchased throughout the years. Oh, the comfort is amazing. I don't follow all the trends. My eating habits have improved drastically over the last 4 years and I feel better than I have most of my life. I have IBS and migraines and changing up the way I eat has decreased those health issues. My husband and I have taken up hiking (easy hiking). We love to camp in a tent. And we enjoy our grown children and our 5 grandchildren (They'll either keep us feeling young or extremely tired... :) They're 2 months, 3 years, 9 years, 11 years, and 13 years at this time.) I really enjoyed this video and plan to refer back to it many times. Thank you.

Your tips are so spot on! My parents are my guides, they quit traveling internationally at age 88. Mom has a lot of arthritis in various areas of her body yet still to quote her “a going concern”. Dad’s last big thing he did was using a portable come-a-long to hoist his drive on lawn mower into the box of his 4x4 pickup. He blew an aneurysm or two and died 3weeks later…after all five of his daughters arrived and told us off once more 💞😂. He was 92. Mom had died 2years previously. I’m 65 and you are so right! One day you can still be mistaken being in your 40s (I always looked quite a bit younger) and the next week you look 60! I have to redo my dressy wardrobe now 🙁.

I’m turning 42 this December, on New Years Eve. I completely agree with you. The points you have made are encompassing and relevant. To further capitalize on an important point you made, I did see a mature aged woman a couple of months ago walking in a nearby plaza wearing an outfit that was not very suited for her age. It was a midriff blouse that showed a belly button piercing and a pair of track pants that said ‘PINK’ across the buttock area. When I saw that, I thought the EXACT same thing you said in your video. She would have looked more graceful had she worn an attire that was more age appropriate. Second, nutrition, exercise, and good skincare are tantamount to making the adjustments that your body needs as we all age. I have even noticed on myself that my skin now likes more oils and emollients that draw and retain moisture. Third, yes, learning new things and staying away from being stuck in the past. Has anyone seen the movie Gray Gardens? Watch it! It’s based on a true story that talks about two women who deteriorated from being unapologetically stuck in the past and would not embrace the changing of the times. When I have travelled overseas, it is so refreshing to see retired men and women travel and learn phrases in a foreign language. It gives me something to aspire to. Great video! I’m a new subscriber!!!! Any tips on how to get through our forties?

I push myself and challenge myself at every workout and I love it. I’m maintaining my goal weight with weight watchers. I’m also battling a serious cancer, but I don’t talk about it and I’m staying strong and positive. I love wearing nice, but stylish clothes. You are definitely a grace filled woman Kay and a good example to the rest of us. I recently became a vegan, which I’m still shocked by! I was a big chicken and steak eater but I saw a KZbin video by Dr Joel Furhman on his plant based diet and something just clicked. I have given up all animal products, including fish, eggs, dairy and dramatically reduced my salt intake. The diet is heavy on beans, greens, mushrooms, berries and seeds and nuts. My whole kitchen set up has changed and I feel like a beginner cook because it’s all so different. Thankfully my husband has agreed to join my diet, thank goodness. The amazing thing is that it has made me look younger! Something about getting really good nutrients will definitely make you look more youthful. Anyone who wants to look younger without surgery should try a plant based diet. Thank you for all the wonderful tips.

Those are great tips, Kay. I struggle to change my make up routine. I want to simplify it, make it more neutral. So I keep trying new palettes. It is a work in progress. I agree with the learning thing, I took crochet and knitting classes a few years ago, it was a lot of fun to learn something new. I am 67 years old,and yesterday, I took a boxing class, which was way different than anything I have ever done. A lot of hitting the bag and the instructors padded gloves. So weird to hit something when all our lives we are told to keep your hands to yourself. I also like the grace idea, being patient with everyone, slow drivers, elderly people at the cash register in front of you, etc. Just be nice to people is good advice. I talk to a women in my Step class and found out her cat passed away on Sunday, I bought her a Sympathy card and will give it to her tomorrow in class, I know what it feels like to have to make that judgement call to put your beloved pet down. Also, I would love to make friends with younger people, I just don't know where to find them, people seem to be staying close to home during Covid. We use to have more young women in the gym to talk to, but possibly they are staying home with their children these days. I like the age I live in, it is very interesting to be alive now, but so many of my friends (on FB, especially) who are my age are living in the past, so often they remember how great it was, but it wasn't that great for many people, it was just nice to be young and carefree. I do agree with the weight baring exercises, so important for our bone health. Thank you, Kay. I wish I really knew you as a neighbor, come to Massachusetts some day. :-)

Great message! I am 66 and still work out in the public part time. Thanks for reminding me to exercise and eat healthier! I am a widow and last year lost my 94 year old mother.

Life (at any age) is a balancing act; aging may be more of a mental game but we should have more time to stay fit, look good (our own style), eat well, give to other etc. and then feel confident to be ourselves! All these tips are spot on and while these are normal for me and the life I live, I hope this video and your wise words are able to inspire many many others to be the best version of themselves as they - we age :)

You look so good. Thank you for the inspiration. I am 74. At 60, my stomach was still flat. Maybe it happened when I had my gall bladder out, but my stomach got big. It’s discouraging. That and my flabby upper arms and my neck age me. Oh well. The comment by the lady who mentioned the joy of the Lord was a good one. Amen. And amen. Thank God I have that.

A thoughtful video with spot-on content. As much as we focus on the outside, true beauty comes from the inside. I feel we need to guard our hearts and words so that bitterness and complaining don't steal our beautiful self.

Yes, guarding our hearts and words is definitely important. There is a tendency to feel we can speak more freely as we age, but graceful women measure their words.
