This is how my husband and I feel, we are both in our 80s and we feel young inside and it shows on the outside. We take care of our home on our own, cooking cleaning and the gardening. We walk 3 miles every day and all this keeps us young looking and feeling alive. It’s so true Sandra, to socialize, even if it’s to talk to neighbors on walks.

I think it is every person's responsibility to take as good a care of themselves as possible. You can think and feel young, but the body is going to do what it's going to do as the operational systems begin to age. Why pursue a lifestyle that hastens the process? I think it boils down to quality of life. I don't want to do anything that could possibly diminish the best life I am supposed to be living. I'm a big believer in eating cleanly, living simply, and doing as much of the physical work as I can to take care of my body and my physical surroundings.

Maybe they don’t have any children. But my parents are the same age and they are the same. They pay for regular lawn care and car care but they do everything else themselves. They go out every week: they go out to eat lunch by the beach and then get takeout for dinner and almost every week they also go out dancing. Many years ago I told them that it would be nice if they moved in but they were not interested and are still not interested. When driving becomes an issue, I’m sure things will change.

Just want to say “I love you” ! ❤ You are such an inspiration to me. I’m 63 and have lived in a rural area for the last 25 yrs. I spent many yrs isolated here when I was sick with RA . I now work but past 4 yrs I’m really the only one in the office, I decided back in 2018 I was going to move to The Villages so I could be around people and have things to do. Well that’s finally happening. We are selling our property and moving to Florida this fall. I am finally going to put my physical and mental health first. My husband is not interested in staying healthy so I decided to let him to him and I do me. I cannot change or fix him but I can take care of myself. That’s one message I would like to put out there. You have to decide to put yourself first! No one else will do it. ❤❤Thank you for all your wisdom

@@sharynm79 I got fortunate. I really did not think my husband would go but I think he realizes that we cannot take care of ourselves out here. We don’t have any children and after having to take care of my mom and her heath issues a lightbulb went off. I started watching KZbin videos of the villages and decided that’s where I’m going with or without him. And I really would have. At this point in my life I want me time and I want fun friends and people to do things with. Go look up the villages new comers and pretty over 50. She just moved there. Please let me know how things go. Im routing for you!

This is all really good advise. I am 66 and I never say I'm old because I'm not! I remember being in my 40's and friends would talk about getting old, and aches and pains, and I thought, 'What are you talking about, we're not old, not even close!!!' You're right, it's all about your mindset! As a man(woman) thinks in his(her) heart, so is he (she)! Keep doing what you do Sandra! By the way you look absolutely beautiful!🌺
@jeanetteh.9240 Жыл бұрын
Sadly, my aches and pains have been diagnosed and are very real. But when I'm with my younger friends (some of them much younger), I make a concerted effort to not dwell on it. I don't hide it, I just don't go on and on. Personally, I find litanies too boring, but beyond that, I want to set a good example. Our culture tends to emphasize the value of youth, and I want to die knowing that I made aging less scary and depressing for those coming after me. It sounds like you are doing the same!

We are what we think and if we have a positive mindset and 99% of the time whatever we are struggling through we will get to the end of it in a positive way. If you worry about failing all the time you will stress yourself out some more. And if you do fail and always keep wondering what if we can never move forward. If you fail get up off your knee's and try again. the key to success is failure without quitting. 3. Don't sweat the small stuff. Worry is such a useless emotion it drains you of all energy and it is such a negative way to think about your life 4. Do muscle work. 5. Balance training as you age you lose balance you will fall 6. Excersice walk. 7. Socialize don't self isolate. Get an animal. 8. Switch it up. Get out of the rut you are in. 9. No guilt self care. Take care of your skin. Take care of your mind take care of your body. Take care of your hair

So much warmth and sunshine coming from you! I cannot get enough ❤ Thank you for sparkling your energy through the video! I’m 28 and sometimes i feel like i’m retired grumpy grandma, just complaining, feeling bad and thinking about what shoulda, woulda, coulda. Not living the life I have, but just wishing it was different. It’s not a pleasant feeling but it’s a huge progress I came to realizing that at least. You are an example how I want to grow - wise, calm, loving, grateful. Such a blessing to find you, i finally have an amazing example to follow! Thank you!!!

Growing up in the Balkans within a middle-class family, I never received guidance on how to align my life with the conventional wisdom, even though these principles were considered the norm. As a result, now in my early 30s and living independently, I am actively incorporating the positive advices gleaned from books and the internet. Discovering this channel has provided me with a newfound confidence, reaffirming that I don't have to conform to the patterns set by my family. Instead, I can strive to become a role model, embracing a strong mindset and physical well-being. Thank you Sandra for your time to share valuable thoughts. Alex

Thank you Sandra! You are beautiful ❤woman and have a good soul ! You are an inspiration, I just turned 52, and past 20 years doing just that what you shared ( except more weights) By nature Im loving life and teaches you how to be love and spread amongst people with my actions. First , kind words or patience, even to ignorant people , they do appreciate. Care for myself its such a treat and gives me energy for the next week . Need it to get out of my comfort zone cause son is grown will learn new habits , new practices . Reminder , where I place my attention thats succeed .During the pandemic Didn’t feel like eating red meat or alcohol for five months, then I finally made my dream come true, traveling to Paris and Florence, and of course, made a conscious decision to try everything good those countries offer. Then came back to my healthy life!! Be joyful and don't sweat the small stuff! Peace prosperity and dreams come true!! ✨

One of your BEST videos! So much helpful information & I sure needed to hear it & many others did, also. You are such a light!! I turned 70 in April. I exercise (walk 3 mi every morning M-F) take care of myself, & love being social but I need to step out of my comfort zone more! Thank you for this excellent video. You look beautiful, rested, & happy. Safe travels as you step out of your comfort zone & meet new ppl along the way.😊 You are such an amazing individual & I look forward to "visiting" with you every Tuesday. Thank you!

I am so impressed with your travel courage; and the New York debacle, I am sure that was miserable. I will be 70 Sunday and the number seems daunting. I haven’t traveled out of my area since before covid and have no desire to go anywhere; I have traveled to Europe/S America…over the years but nothing seems worth the risk now, especially as a senior as the public landscape is so unpredictable. I admire you travelers and puzzle at why I don’t have that wanderlust.

I find it incredible how so many 50 and 60 year olds won’t use computers or phones to do everyday things (like register for accounts, create logins, and genera tasks using an internet program), while Sandra here, at 84, has social media accounts and posts well-produced, we’ll-edited KZbin videos….another example of what it means to stay young! Woundedul advice Sandra - everything starts with a positive mindset - line you I’ve lost precious time over worrying about things you simply can’t change - I’ve discovered weights and strength resistance training at 61 and I love it - I lift weights do Pilates and walk - there is an definite correlation btw feeling physically strong and good mental health as well as being able to move more easily - I’ve changed my diet focussing on protein good fats fruit salads and vegetables minimising processed fats and sugars (though i still have the occasional treat) have lost over 50 pounds another 30 to go - as my darling mother used to say life is for living - keep well we love you xx i have so much more travel I want to do. Sandra consider including K2 it enhances the absorption of Vitamin D and is beneficial in preventing blood clots as we age 100 mg per day. This is one of your very best videos x

Thank you Sandra. Your words resonated with me, especially about attitude. I'm 73yo, my beloved husband died 12 yrs ago. I've worked thru the grief of his dying. Three years ago, I adopted Ziva, my beloved Corgi and recently she passed at 7yo due to cancer. We had five glorious weeks together from day of dX to death. I'm totally lost without her. Too soon to even think about another doggy. Ziva and I fit together so well, my companion. She was like velcro. I live alone and have not felt lonely until now. Trying to work thru the grief. So, I'll try to have a better attitude too and be thankful for the time we had together. It's difficult.

Hi Sandra, Your advice is so spot on, and I need to put it into action. It’s so easy to get into a rut, and so hard to getting out of it. One thing I do need in my life that would help, would to be living closer to my family. We live across the country from them. As I get older, it really has changed my mind set, and not in a good way. Never take your family for granted, and try to stay close with them if you can. Have safe & fun travels on your upcoming trips ! 💜💜

Thank you ,Sandra, for all the tips and reminders as to how to keep it going.💃 Also, I appreciate your sharing of the fact that you need to push yourself to stay social. I also am quite content with my own company, yet your point is so true that it's important to have interaction with others. I applaud you for reminding yourself to do what Arthur had prompted you to do. That's the whole beautiful message of this vid, for me, anyway. Keep moving forward while practicing self care and self love🥰 challenge yourself. MOVE! LIVE! LOVE! Thank you for consistently shining your light and encouragement by example. YOU. ARE. A. I love you, Sandra!♥️♥️ Yes, physical movement like walking is really important. I introduced walking for about an hour in my almost daily routine. I can tell the difference. Yes, it eliberates endorphines and I feel so good✨ I try to keep myself active both physical and mental since I’m going through a difficult period of time right now..I noticed that keeping feeling lost and sad does me NO good, you reminded me of that, thank you so much♥️🤗

Your advice is wonderful and so helpful to everyone. I go to Silver Sneakers three days per week which is helpful. Sometimes I don’t want to go, but if I think of the benefits and go I feel better. I’m 78 and have some balance issues so I need to focus on that. Another important thing is to watch our posture…stand straight and sit up straight. Nothing makes people look older is to be bent over when walking or sitting.

Walking was drilled into me when I was young by my mom, "Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday I walk myself into a state of well being and walk away from every illness,. I have walked myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill...if one keeps on walking everything will be alright." Soren Kierkergaard. My mom lived to 90 in her home taking care of herself. She died in her home, sat down in her arm chair and floated off to heaven. And yes, walking with a four legged companion is that much better.

Hi Sandra Your positivity is so important and inspiring. At age 72 I find myself in the weird place of reflecting so much on all the past chapters of my life and being acutely aware that time is not spread out in front of me like it used to be.
