Thank you for this video! I previously wore zip up jeans, which always showed through my tops due to my tummy and the snap closure bending out. I’ve discovered these wonderful pull-on jeans that do have a minimizing effect and don’t show at my belly under a top. They help me focus more on having a good day than my body image. I appreciate your words that our body shapes truly aren’t what we should focus on. I work every day to internalize those words and count my blessings instead. ❤️ You are a true inspiration, Kay......😊

Ok, can a Certified Bra Fitter make a short woman, with small chest, big tummy, skinny legs and skinny arms look better than a potato 🥔 with sticks? 😂 I am exaggerating, I have curves and I don’t look too bad, but I never went to a CBF, because I never thought there can be bras for my small chest, so I wear bralettes and camisoles most of the time. I like my breast, they haven’t become saggy or softer even after breastfeeding my 2 babies for over 2 years each one. Now in my almost 50’s I have noticed a belly that feels bigger than my chest. If a Certified Bra Fitter can help I will definitely make an appointment.

I appreciate you aren’t focused on weight loss or exercise, but instead inspiring us to work with our God-given the body style. I’ve had a “tummy” since in my 20’s, after birthing two big babies. Even when I’ve been underweight (rarely 😉) over the years, I still have a tummy. My wardrobe reflects many fashion pieces from your recommendation. Thank you!

Some great tips Kay! Sewing my own clothes has been a wonderful thing as I’m in the 60+ group. At 5’2” it is often a challenge to purchase good fitting clothes. Sewing has allowed me to grade between sizes for a perfect fit. You are so right about a correct fitting bra! The size changes as we age, gain or loose weight. Rouching is definitely a plus to hide a tummy. Vertical lines, monochromatic dark colors and vertical jewelry like you are wearing in the video are also so helpful. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!❤️

Great tips. You’ve offered so much more than the usual “monochromatic,” “vertical lines,” “avoid Breton tops” advice. I do have several Breton tops (marinières) and enjoy wearing them because they are classics. I also appreciate your comments regarding selecting styles and options that suit your unique self. And you are so right: we should all focus less (and worry less) about the way we look, and work more towards being the best people we can be: treating others with respect and dignity, and wearing the best accessory: a genuine smile. People who focus on the “faults” of others? If that’s the kind of person they are, then why give weight (ha!) to their opinions? People who matter don’t mind, and people who mind don’t matter! ❤️

What great tips! Love your videos and your blog because you always offer valuable styling info. I can tell you've spent time researching. I have a mid-life tummy - some days more than others! I'm conscious of it and do what I can to minimize it but I've also realized that I'm 61......and my body shows that. Even though I exercise, my body is still going to show (and feel!) its age to a certain extent. I've made the decision to to do my best to dress this body/figure in an attractive way and then forget about it and go enjoy life! There's no reason to beat ourselves up. Our inside beauty (or lack of it!) is what people will remember.

I enjoyed listening to all your tips and appreciate the sparkle you exhibit in knowing you are helping others. Your last tip was best of all. It’s taken me years to accept my body flaws. One of the biggest challenges is to find the very thing that suits my body shape (and flaws) best. I have a medium build and waist on top of thighs and legs two sizes bigger, thanks to defects from polio. Love empire-waisted clothing, but you’re right, they’re hard to find. As I got older and developed more of a tummy, it became more obvious that I have a high waist. I had never before considered petite sizing because I don’t have “Petite” height. But I’ve discovered that Petite proportions in tops allows me to buy a smaller size. In a Regular size, the waist hits at my belly rather than my true waist. In the Petite size, the waist hits a good inch higher, which is where my narrowest point is.

I wear ones with form fitting features in the back or sides to keep me from looking like the Michelin man. Lol. I also prefer thinner ones for less bulk. I can get away with that down south. Belk Kim Roger's brand and JCP St. John's Bay have nailed these features for me .

My best tip, and I DO have a tummy is to wear shapewear. Spanx make me crazy because it’s too tight for me. I love Shapermint and have 3 different ones. I wear them when I need a smooth look, and under dresses, etc. I wash them inside of a mesh bag on cold and delicate, and hang to dry. Never dry. There are other brands, but this brand allows me to breathe, and smooths out the lumps, bumps and jiggly parts of my 62 yo body. Your last few comments are the BEST! The trick with a Breton top is finding one that is the right length. I have a great one from St John knits that has a dark navy band at the bottom. It totally camouflages my lower abs. Also because it’s a thicker knit. It just skims the midsection. With three quarter length sleeves, that also brings they eye up from that midsection.

These are excellent tips, and I agree with your husband, the last one is the most important to remember. Our culture still celebrates youth and also perfection, which can make us focus inward too much. As you said, life is too short for that. It's also true that we are our own harshest judges and we need to lighten up. I love the Soft Surroundings jeans and their Superla pants for a clean, slim line. And I'm so glad that high rises are back. Those do make a big difference!

Great tips! I brought a couple of pants to the alterations shop to have the pockets sewn up. The pockets just stuck out and I love the flat front!

Thank you Kay ! The tip about sleeves makes so much sense, and I’ve never thought about it ! I’ve literally had 7 surgeries that required being cut open around my stomach area, so I have a big stomach, and very self conscious about it ! So any tips to help hide that area are really helpful ! Us ladies have to deal with so much ( menopause, child birth, etc….) we deserve to look our best, especially when we are older ! 🥰

Good morning Kay! Your points in this video really spoke to me. These are things that I take into account when I shop. I have been learning from you for a couple of years now. Last year, I did take measurements to find my correct proportions. Tops/blouses have to check off “”my criteria” or I don’t buy. Same with pants, etc. Since losing a lot of weight and having to regroup, I just don’t want to settle anymore. I want to be the best I can be even if I make a mistake! It’s a process that I keep working towards. So, thank you, dear friend for all the help you give women who still struggle at our age! May God bless you for your work! Love you! 💕

You bet. Thanks so much for watching. And for sharing your thoughts. 💕
(Melanie here) Great video. I noticed that many of the sweaters have a V neck (or even the shirts which form that at the top) which creates a good visual. Thanks to you encouraging us to try some shirts tucked in with a cute belt, I bought 2 belts that you showed (the black/brown one and the animal print one). With a jacket, it shows a waist and it looks good. I appreciate you encouraging me to try that look :)
