Hey @jujimufu , does magnus have less of an advantage lifting the stone due to lack of stomach/chest mass? When Martins says let your arms assist the stone up your midsection- comparative to you two- he has *no* midsection 😅 Much love to all three of you! You’re all the best at what you do!❤

Yeah that advice, and the camaraderie is what got him over the top. Extremely impressive to see that. I felt it in my bones! People think that strong man competitions are just low IQ pure strength things, when really it's highly complex puzzle solving under great stress.
@vocalimpactplays217
@vocalimpactplays217 Жыл бұрын
The really specific coaching to get his feet aligned correctly so he could really get the full strength from his legs and back just had me grinning from ear to ear. I started getting powerlifting training after a few years of being really intimidated by lifting in general, and that feeling of having a coach who actually knows what they're talking about, is incredibly supportive, but also recognizes when to push you was something that I had never experienced in my life up to that point. Easily breaking 4 plates (405lbs/180kg) for reps on a lift for the first time with the help of some very specific coaching tuned to my size (6'7/2m tall) and body after struggling to do less than half of that on my own for fear of injury is still something that sticks with me years later.

@@ThunderChunky101 "People think that strong man competitions are just low IQ pure strength things" Who does that? I've spoken to plenty of people about strong men and not one of them say this, most of them will say that people who are at the top of anything will have a good idea of what they are doing. You wouldn't think Floyd Mayweather was a low-IQ person because he's at the top, same with Erling Haaland, Casper Ruud, Lebron James and so on..

@@KING_PHILLIPDespite the capitalist societal norms that you get taught ideologically, disciplines where you do not directly compete against others, but rather against yourself and your ego, do see way less conflict and toxicity. You don't get anything from wishing others to fail, it doesn't make you lift that stone which last time you couldn't. Supporting each other leads to an atmosphere of solidarity where eventually everyone will profit from. One of the many reasons why sports are political, in a good way, and society could very well learn from it.

I'm Canadian so when it comes to strongman I cheer for folks like Mitchell Hooper, JF Caron, and Maxime Boudreault. This video was an immediate click for me though because I've really liked Licis for a while now, and I think he's incomparably good at teaching. The videos he's done with other channels about the mechanics of deadlifting helped me improve my lifts by about 10% almost immediately. Licis always comes across as knowledgeable, supportive, and gentlemanly. 100% deserves all the respect he gets.

07:32 I thought it was interesting how Martins and Juji instantly saw that Magnus was capable of lifting that whereas to me (a person with very little weightlifting experience) that first attempt looked like it was nowhere close to happening. Not that it's surprising that they could see it, they're clearly experts at what they do, but it's cool to think about how we're looking at the same thing but making totally different assumptions based on that.

This is exactly what pushes me every time to do stuff that may seem impossible if i let my mind get into it, but once i trick my brain into making it fully believe that my life is on the line to do something i truly force myself to do something at the absolute best way i can do it and push forward, seems to me you got all of this too, you inspire me brother for real, long live you brother 👊🏽👊🏽
