100%. Proven the flat diff covers do the opposite of what they are suppose to do.
@F1travels3 жыл бұрын
Never seen a rearend fail prematurely due to having a maghytec cover on it. Gale Banks is a smart cookie but you don't have to believe every single thing he says. All that is is marketing, talking down the competition to make his own diff covers sell better.
@maxd72283 жыл бұрын
came to see this, Gale Banks does an in depth video on how flat back diff do not work. search on youtube. There's a reason why the stock are curved the way they are, to send the oil to the front bearings, the flat back diff covers slosh the oil and do not shoot it over to the bearings. Very nice video by Banks, I'll be upgrading my diff cover soon, and Banks diff cover is the one I'm getting.
@maxd72283 жыл бұрын
@@F1travels when the video speaks for it self and others have did similar research, all adds up, not a marketing thing. Great video series by Banks. I don't go get all the products he makes but the diff cover is definitely one I will be getting.

Great idea on the differential and transmission pan upgrades. I’ll definitely look into those when it’s time for these fluids to be changed on my 3500 2019 RAM. I purchased a 1/2” Dewalt impact wrench and put a 3/4” socket on it and can quickly remove either the truck or RV tires. I’ve had to use it twice for flats on my RV. I also have a 3/4” drive torque wrench. I put the 3/4” socket on it as well. Never have to look for the socket. Talk about easy! Great and helpful video.

Next time your in a hardware or home maintenance store you might want to pick up a 1-2 ft piece of pipe to fit over your breaker bar, ratchet & jack handle. They usually have a scrap or odd piece you can buy on the cheap. It adds great leverage & placement to your bottle jack as well. Mine has saved me a few times over the years.

Hi there! Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with your Ram Truck! A great rundown! We had a 1ton single rear wheel Ram Laramie.......and i traded it in for a Tacoma and 4Runner so that we could enjoy the jeep trails here in our town of Ouray. A contributing factor is that we didn't have a trailer then :-( So...fast forward 2 years and we are getting an Ourdoors RV travel trailer. So....we have a 1ton single rear wheel F350 on order with their new, bigger gas engine. I kept it at the xlt trim to keep the costs down, but I will definitely miss the seat cooler and dual temp controls of the higher trim level. I also hope the lack of diesel eventually is regretted. The savings of $8k on no diesel will probably make me feel better when it takes an extra 45 seconds to get to the top of the mountain pass here in CO. Safe travels!!

@GetawayCouple3 жыл бұрын
We try to plan them when we are near family or friends if possible. Some campgrounds don't mind an oil change, they just don't want you pulling an engine. Usually if you ask, they will let you know. It really just depends on where you are.

Just a heads up. I had one of those diff covers on my 2012 for 120,000 miles towing a heavy Grand Design Momentum and had to replace the ring and pinion at 209,000 miles. Not saying it was the main reason the carrier bearings failed but I am very anal about maintenance and was shocked it failed. I put the factory aluminum cover back on with the new gear set. Also; it is my understanding, unless special ordered, all those automatic trucks in that year were 4.10:1 trucks. That’s what my gear set was.

I bought a used (new to me) F150 to pull a small fiberglass trailer. The previous owner had added a transmission fluid radiator. It has worked great. But we don't climb the tall passes you find out West. I would be curious how effective it might be out West. Having to add this transmission radiator and the upgrades you have added to minimize heat is a bit disappointing. These trucks are built and rated to pull a maximum load. To me it seems unreasonable to have to spend extra money on these parts. I know you can live without them but that can lead to breakdowns with added costs. I love the outtakes. I think Rae is messing with you. I really enjoy your adventures.
