I started watching your videos roughly 2 weeks ago. Came across your channel while watching saw mill videos. I'm not much of a you tube guy just mostly for music n hockey fights. As u noticed your the only channel I have and one my daughter added when she was on my phone. Regardless I started going back n like watching wat u are doing with your property. I live in brandon mb but have been traveling 90 mins to work clearing bush n using a mill to use the lumber as we are building cabins n wellness retreat center for people with addictions like a treatment center. Thats how I got into watching sawmill videos.

Good morning Mike. Great overview on how to stone the driveway and perfect timing for me. I have a load coming tomorrow morning - my driveway is in pretty rough shape after the winter thaw and this was really helpful for me. Appreciate the extra effort in explaining the key pointers on how to do it properly. Not sure mine will come out as nice as yours but now I am armed with a little knowledge (might be dangerous).LOL!! Hey Mike. My boy and I scored some red oak that a nasty thunderstorm took down for us. Cut it up. Split it and then WE delivered it to his grampie. My seven yr old was soooo proud of that 1/5 cord of wood. Watch out for ticks they're horrible up this way in NH. Rudy

Mike, I'm sure your RK guy is watching and has probably realized a 4-in-1 bucket would be a real productivty booster for you, and the thousands of people just like you, who do a wide variety of jobs/projects and don't have endless hours to do it. In fact, he's probably already concluded that their King Kutter 72" 4-in-1 bucket is just the ticket and realizes the sales & marketing opportunity he can take advantage of by sending you one. That bucket would let you meter ("tailgate" if you will) out gravel and spread a lot quicker. Not to mention the myriad of other uses it provides....such as reverse scooping dirt/gravel from a pile, grading, grappling....you name it. Just tryin' to help a brotha out!

Another great video, with good production quality. Appreciate the advise you provide to us, beginners, any good information is always welcome. By the way, I also think the combination of Sub-Compact + 40-60hp Tractor is almost perfect, in your case RK24 + RK55. In my scenario I only have 1/2 acre and I'm dreaming on one day owning a Kubota B2601 or maybe a RK24. Thank you sir.

When you get into heavier projects with that rk55, lower the rear tire pressure a bit. It really helped our tractor when we were doing dirt work. If there is blast in this tire ( I think you said there was) it won't hurt to lower the psi a bit!

You should look into edge tamers, they work great for scoping into anything and not destroying the surface under your pile. I use them for way more then I thought with my rk 24, snow on gravel mulch or topsoil that you have a pile of dumped in your yard. Check them out might be something you can use.

Mike’s property with the low tree branches removes this option, but if your drive has higher branches or is open have the dump truck operator/driver dump the load with several inches of coverage when it is delivered. He will not do some areas due to various reasons, but he can give you a good coverage the width of the truck and save lots of moving and grading work. Ask when ordering your stone and again when delivered.

Richard clarke they sell basic pole-saw and small limb cutters. Hey Mike I'm wondering if you could use a section of old chain link fence like a drag/harrow?Maybe weigh it down with a couple of 8"-10" logs?Possibly knocking down high spots? Tried the back blade an box blade made it worse. Tractor I rented didn't have draft control. Any comments are appreciated.

Yes a drag may be helpful, Also something else you can do, get your tractor sitting on grade with a bunch of stone in front of it, then get your bucket level on the ground, lift it off the ground about 1/2" and start pushing slowly. If your tractor isn't sitting right on the grade and slope you want to start its very difficult

In case mike doesn’t get back with you.... you first need to calculate the surface area to be rocked and how thick you want to spread the rock. Knowing the area and thickness you can determine the volume of rock you need in cubic yards. Take the cubic yard volume and multiply it by 2. This will be the approx tons of rock required for your job. Crushed limestone here in Missouri sells for about $5.50 per ton. If you are within 30 minutes of a quarry you should be able to have it delivered for $6 per ton or less. Most tandem axel trucks around here can legally haul 18 ton loads. Some trucks can haul much more depending on the number of axels.

Mcclymonds is where I got it from, runs almost 500 a load now. Triaxle can haul just under 23 tons. Approximately what area around Pittsburgh are you?

Thats a tough one to answer, all depends on what the sub base is like, (Whats under the stone you are putting down) The harder and more solid the sub base is the less stone you need. Make sense?
