After working for Walmart for nearly 2 decades, I pick GV over name brand almost every time. I’ve toured a couple factories and seen first hand the “name brand” being packaged in the line next to GV. GV chocolate chip cookies are an item you buy multiple of because they are so yummy and so hard to get. The GV string cheese is almost half the price of NB but so much better tasting. GV yellow bag potato chips are Lays original

Great suggestion about using the burgers as just ground beef. When I lived alone, I often used a frozen patty this way. Whether I used it to make taco meat for a salad or a small batch of meat sauce for spaghetti or even a small batch of chili, it was nice not having so many leftovers to eat for days on end.
@yvonnepalmquist86762 жыл бұрын
I've been doing the same and it really helps to reduce the meat intake my family consumes. It's just as easy to use a 1/2 lb or 3/4 lb as it is the entire pound. And no worries about remembering to thaw. It's a win all the way around.

@@yvonnepalmquist8676 when my kids were all at home I would buy a lot of ground beef when it was on sale. I would make a prep day and brown it all, then put into a colander to drain, then rinse with hot water to remove even more of the grease. I would let it cool, then pack it into meal size freezer bags and freeze it. When I came home from work and everyone was starving I could just throw a bag into the microwave to slightly thaw, then into a skillet and add fixings for tacos, spaghetti, hamburger helper, sloppy joe’s, or any other ground beef dish. It’s already cooked so it cut prep time to almost nothing!! Saves so much time and money!!

Another suggestion for the pork as this is what we do in the meat dept I work in with the exact same pork loin Take a regular knife and you can make the following cuts: 4 oz (about 1/4-2/8 or so) pork loin chops. you can break, grill or season 4 oz opposite end (half dark meat) we sell as ribeye chops. Season or plain most tender cut 8 oz cut (maybe 1/2 inch or so) same as above Take 8 oz and butterfly. People pound these out and make huge better fried sandwiches. Some customers have told me they cover with like a spinach stuffing and roll up for a mini roast. Take the 8 oz and cut a "pocket" and stuff. We usually stuff with various stuffings but I am sure you could do other flavors Take the 8 oz and cut in half and wrap with bacon. Pork verson of a bacon wrapped tenderloin. I cube the 4 or 8 oz (whatever is leftover) and mix in onions and cilantro and marinade. Cook up and use for tacos That one cut of meat (we have had on sale recently for $1.88 per lb) is almost the entirety of our meat case. Hope this helps

Have you looked at the ingredients for the Fuji sparkling water? I just did and it has aspartame in it. That is almost basically like drinking diet soda. When I buy sparkling water, I'll look for the kind that only has carbonated water and natural flavors in the ingredients, like Waterloo, Ice Mountain, or Bubly for example. Waterloo is actually my favorite carbonated water brand. I'd also suggest Zevia for a healthier soda alternative. Some stores might have good sales on it.

I'm becoming a Walmart grocery delivery connoisseur since joining the W+ program a few months back. I'm disabled and do not drive and it is not an option for me to go out and do my own grocery shopping. Previously I used a regional grocery store chain for my grocery deliveries but they are quite costly and now that Walmart offers the service in my area I decided to give them a whirl. For $98 I was able to get a one year unlimited delivery and a bonus 6 months of deliveries so for $98 I got 18 months of deliveries. Pretty good deal to me #notsponsored! My Great Value favorites are: pecan shortbread cookies, the peanut butter patty cookies you bought that are dupes for girl scout cookies, the $1 spices, the multigrain and honey wheat breads that are akin to the pepperidge farm breads. Most any of the Great Value cereals I've tried have been excellent. I usually get pretty basic things like cheerio knockoffs and Rice Krispies so why not go with generic right? I also like the Walmart zero calorie flavored water that you pointed out in the store and also they're knock off of the ICE sparkling ice beverages. Not as big a fan of the GV coffee but like the teas and Crystal Light knockoffs. The Great Value ice cream and some of the novelties are good. I've also been pleased with most of the personal care knockoffs of major items like lotions and skin care items.

In high school during summers I worked in our local factory that would process fruits and vegetables into frozen boxes and bags, it all comes from the same place and gets different labels. So for the people that feel they have to buy name brand you're wasting your money. Chances are it's packed in the same plant. Sometimes it is packed in an plain labeled box and shipped to be repackaged, so you're paying extra for that.
@yvonnepalmquist86762 жыл бұрын
My Walmart has been lower lately per pound for the frozen patties, so I've been buying these for a while now. So that's savings one. Savings two is that I can pull out 1/2 lb or 3/4 of a lb instead of the entire pound and stretch it further. Savings three is time. If I forget to pull it from the freezer and thaw it out, my dinner plans are not ruined. A quick thaw and chop and my dinner plans are back on track. No emergency "take out" is necessary.

My boyfriend refuses to get the smaller packages even if they're cheaper. He made investments when young and only believes his ideas count

One very good cost saving measure is to just drink water (flavour with mint, cucumber or lemon and forget about buying sparkling water, pop at the store...unless we are having a birthday party or special occasion bottled drinks don’t come home with us. Isn’t water healthier anyway?

We keep tea at home for visitors, but I kicked the habit of drinking flavored liquids decades ago. Water is simple, everyone has it, it's free in restaurants, and it's much healthier than chemical or alcohol filled drinks. I'll have a flavored water occasionally for a change, but a 12 pack will last months. It really simplifies life, and grocery shopping.

Pot stickers or dumplings...you get a huge bag for 7.99 to 9.99 and you can get 2 or 3 meals or more out of them adding a plate full of veggies and you can use some of the Panda sauces or just soy sauce but it does come with 4 pouches of flavored soy sauce...I luv them...money saver for sure.

My favorite Walmart grocery items are lunch meats, ground turkey chubs and the $1 French bread (70 cents on clearance!). I also can't beat the price of the 28 ounce cans of tomatoes.

Great Value frozen wild blueberries! I make a ketoish dessert by putting a good handful in a cereal bowl, sprinkling them with Splenda and a dash of sea salt, then covering them with (great value) heavy whipping cream. Stir and it’s almost like ice cream! My favorite!
