Always be careful in the mountains that you don't come upon and startle a wild mushroom upon the path! They can be very dangerous especially if you are perceived as a threat to their young. A good idea is to loudly talk as you hunt, occasionally yelling "Hey, mushroom!"

Foraging for wild mushrooms is pretty awesome, and you get a nice and tasty treat as a result. My dad and his brothers were quite good at foraging for wild mushrooms that were on his farm in Alberta, Canada. I had another uncle who also was very good at foraging for wild mushrooms. They were so good. One of my aunts made pierogies with a filling of beef and wild mushrooms, that my uncle foraged for. This was another awesome adventure, and the dishes you created with the wild mushrooms looked great. Cheers, Taku and Jocelyn! 👍👍✌️#TakuTuesday

I love foraging for mushrooms. When I was living in the Netherlands, it was illegal to forage for mushrooms, with fines up to 4,500 EUR. Instead of educating people on the edible types, they chose to make it illegal to protect people from eating toxic mushrooms.
