Thanks for the information I really appreciate it! I had no idea they had such a module. These new models are getting pretty fancy that's for sure.

Your insight, determination, and persistence is an inspiration to all techs. You help us to become better. I need to learn about about predicting when modules sleep and wake up to set my epectations about power draw.

Thanks! After 30 minutes to an hour all modules should be in rest phase and current should be

... Damn. I rarely am thankful for the shortcomings of my body (circulatory and spinal issues, whee) which prevented me from getting into this industry when I was a sprout, but holy tits am I glad right now. I don't envy you this kind of disaster.

Im asking every mechanic i can to do this because everyone i talk to tells me its impossible but i know for a fact with a good alternator the vechicle will run without a battery allowing a person to pull the battery that started the rig to then put the old dead battery in and charge it back up while never shutting down the power block (engine). I dont very many if any at all showing how this is actually possible. You have solid work and make things look actually easu with a great description of how too

Thank u for posting this one. Still grateful for the info on using epoxy with threaded rod. I had to move one of my racks and utilized that method. I used Hilti gun and epoxy. What about breaking some of those fuses and keeping them for testing purposes? What Bike is keeping u busy? Thanks again!! Your truck moves right along!!

Glad I could help out on your lift project! Yes, one could break the tops off some fuses to use as test fuses but it would take a while to swap them all out before starting the parasitic draw test. However it will probably be a required step in the future. My bike is a 2000 Kawasaki ZX-12R. I just got finished replacing all the normal wear items throughout the bike to get it ready to ride. I was finally able to ride it this last weekend and so far I really like everything about it from the power to the handling.

Does that truck have auxiliary switches? Usually upfitter stuff is related to that. I'm coming from an 06 superduty so maybe different on new stuff.

Can the module just be replaced as a shortcut? I Have a identical up fitted 2017 that may be starting to have this problem…

If you replace it it may have to be programmed. You will need to check the service information for that module.

My brain hurts! Finding a automotive electrical issue has to be the hardest problem to diagnose bar none. How long does something like this take? At $150-175/Hr that’s an expensive fix. My question is how in the hell did they think continuing to buy new batteries was going to take care of the issue? GREAT video sir!

This one took 10 hours of diag at 150/hr. Some people might think we are ripping off the customer but we make it clear we charge for every hour it takes (unless the problem ends up being something that was simple and was overlooked). And I would much rather pay $1500 to have the problem fixed the first time than to replace the batteries at $650 (what the total dealer price is installed) each time and then start throwing parts at the problem. Also, you can't blame dealer techs for their poor diag as their hands are tied by the greedy manufacturers and/or dealers. Most dealer techs only get paid 1 hour for diag no matter what problem they are trying to diagnose. Some only get payed for 18 minutes! They have to make a living so I don't blame them for taking a wild guess. That's why it's always best to find a highly skilled independent shop that isn't afraid to charge top $$$ for diag to get your vehicle fixed right the first time. Good techs definitely aren't cheap.

Exactly! I don’t mind paying, but I want it done right the first time because it’s worth it to me to ensure everything is working correctly. Finding someone that is talented and honest is tough and when you find them you hold on to them and recommend them to friends and family to help their business. I do 90% of the work on my family’s vehicles, but if it’s an electrical issue I take it to a pro at a independent shop. I would never bring a car to a dealer. I don’t trust them and never will. Liked and subscribed!
