Thank you for your latest video. After your comments about commenters I thought I ought to explain how I came across your videos and why I am now a subscriber. I came across your channel by happenstance as I was trying to find a good video about Dartmoor, which in my past I used to explore. Your video of Chagford is, as far as I am concerned the most charming and delightful discover of this special little town. No other vlog comes close. Then I discovered that you are a musician and quite serious and humble filmmaker. That isn't meant to sound derogatory at all, so many KZbinrs are overt self publicists, and your gentle style is refreshing. My son and I are slowly following your substantial opus, which are a delight. So we thought we'd salute your unique and very well put together videos. My wife was a Gloster girl and so your videos from Gloucestershire were especially appreciated, as as so many of your other adventures. I have no channel of my own to promote so can't do that, but do thank you for your highly individual and caring videos which we enjoy. It is going to take us a long while to discover all 170+ of your videos, but certainly feel it is going to be worthwhile. I do believe that no one else is documenting our British landscape and heritage as sensitively as yourself...So you have a whole lot more yet to do < smile> I am now ancient and no longer able to ramble, so you also bring the joy of our country and countryside in a way that I can no longer do myself. This is a thus a multifaceted yet simple "Thank You" and sincere wishes of good will from this ancient Briton. ML

Many thanks for subcribing, watching and for your very kind words, it is much appreicated. I'm so pleased you and your son have been enjoying what you've seen so far. It's been nearly 5 years since I was down in Dartmoor, but thank you so much for your lovely comments about my Chagford film. As you are a new subscriber, I do recommend, assuming you've not already done so of course, is to read the description below the videos, as well as looking at the Introduction to the Solitary Rambler video. Just so that you are aware that, although I provide a lot of infomration in the films, they are videos of my personal journeys as opposed to being definitive guides. Anyway thank you again for your lovely comments and for taking the time to watch. All the best 👍

I have again just watched your Parkhouse and Chrome hill video. I have to tell you that I often dip into your films, particularly on the Peak District, because they are a wonderful aid memoir to the many happy hours spent on footpaths I have trodden over time and which you have subsequently traversed. This, with my late wife Hilary, and in our early days together scarcely a weekend passed without us being there amongst those glorious hills and dales. In this troubled and a very different day and age, your videos are a lovely, and slightly poignant mirror to me of times long gone. Thank you.

Really enjoyed this film - reminiscence time. Many years ago I visited Birchen Edge regularly, but always straight up there from the Robin Hood for a day's climbing. I never had the chance to explore the area around; your film has filled in the gap for me. Many thanks. We went back that way the year before lockdown while staying in Chesterfield, and enjoyed a good meal in the Robin Hood after walking around Chatsworth. Lovely area.

Fantastic Patrick. A couple of the classics there. Gardoms edge is like a hidden gem isn’t it? Very few people seem to visit. So much history in that area isn’t there? Love Birchen edge too. Always have to climb on one of the 3 ships like a big kid when I go there 😆. I watch more KZbin than normal TV these days. It seems like a nice little community doesn’t it? Hopefully, our paths will cross in the Peak District soon 🙂
@solitaryrambler
@solitaryrambler 2 жыл бұрын
Morning Anthony, thanks for watching. Yeah these two edges are indeed gems especially Gardom's, and I love the fact that there is no obvious path to it. I've only ever been to Birchen once before despite it being quite close to home. Unfortunately the 3 Ships were the busiest part of my filming day as there were kids climbing all over it at the time. I bet they would be have great to climb onto though 😆 I watch KZbin more too nowadays and yes I've certainly found a community spirit with it. I'm sure, and you were in my mind when I was filming this, that we will bump into each other soon in the glorious Peak District 👍

Hi Patrick thanks again for a lovely video your walk looked really nice. I loved the cows , I was a bit concerned when I saw the sign saying there was a bull in the field I don't think I would have been brave enough to go in there lol. I had a lovely walk this morning with my dog (Angus) down the bay very sunny today. I'm now going to mow my lawns. Have a lovely weekend. PS hope you enjoyed your easter egg. Morning Maggi, yes I feel very lucky to live here and this walk is only a few miles from home. I love Shutlingsloe, or the Cheshire Matterhorn as it's sometimes known. One of your best walks for a while that Patrick - I think it was the visual stimuli. Rocks, views, valleys and monuments and oh yeah a good tale or two from your good self. I must say, and I hold you in high esteem, I've always been disappointed that we didn't meet when you came to Hereford for your Wye Valley series. We had the chance to meet up and you never took it. I would have had a cuppa tea with you and wished you well and let you get on. Maybe there will be another chance. Well, I felt chilled throughout - you were very cheery in fact. Good vibes. All the best as always. Mark
@solitaryrambler
@solitaryrambler 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, really glad you enjoyed this walk. Yes I think it’s pretty good for a short, local walk and I was definitely in good spirits whilst filming this. I was disappointed too Mark at not catching up with you back in 2018. I had booked two nights in the Travelodge at Hereford Grafton, and one of those days I planned to film the Hereford walk, which I ended up doing of course, but I thought that it would have been great to have met you for a walk on one of the other days if you were free, or even a cuppa as you say. You may remember, however, that I had to move house suddenly after very short notice from my previous landlord. When I did move it was literally only a couple of days before I travelled to Hereford. As I result I actually considered canceling my trip to Hereford as I felt it was just not really the best time to be driving a long distance to then go out filming for a day. However, I had already paid for the Travelodge, so I came down in the end as I didn’t want to lose my money. Aside from being totally exhausted from the house move itself, I was not in the best frame of mind because all I could think about was sorting out the new home as soon as I could, as I didn’t get the chance to do so before coming down to Hereford. I really hope there will be another time though Mark as I hold you in high esteem too and, even though we’ve not met in person yet, I have considered you a great friend for some years now, so rest assured I will visit lovely Hereford again. Anyway, thanks Mark as always for watching. All the best and enjoy the rest of your weekend 👍

I'm not you tuber but I do like to watch the videos that people put on but I would never give a bad comment

I never understand why people feel the need to post bad comments, but there you go 👍

Lovely video, as usual. Me thinks you might be getting slightly paranoid concerning invitations to watch others productions. I can't really see what difference it would make? Just keep doing your thing, we think it's great. Forget your recent video comments section it detracts from your work. Just a thought.

Many thanks Hugh for taking the time to watch and for your kind comments, much appreciated. I'm not paranoid by the way, that was just an observation 😀👍
