I had to smile hearing Sal talk about returning from the trip early for the date with his daughter. I've been listening to your podcast for a couple years now and you guys have slowly encouraged me to to be more kind to myself in terms of my training. My mindset has always been more, more, more but now I am open to train in different ways based on what my body needs.

My spiritual teacher's disciple Master Stephen Co does the meditation at UPW for Tony Robbins. Tony seems like an amazing man and teacher. Also wanted to comment on you saying you need to set the example and have others see for themselves the changes to see if that is what they want and how to persue a healthier life. My Mom has come to me several times for help and advice and told me I am her inspiration. My client's mother also came to me on how to eat healthier, I have never discussed my nutrition with her in general. It feels good to have people seek you out and trust you to help. You guys have helped me a lot in the 6 months or so I have found your podcasts, so thank youso much!!

I would love to hear you guys discuss one of my favorite workout variations. It kicks my a$$, but I’m not sure if it’s too much. It’s based on the idea that 30-50 reps is ideal for stimulating muscle growth. Most of us would break that down into 3-5 sets of 6-12 reps, dependent upon the individuals routine. This variation requires you to know your 6 rep max (maybe a little odd, but easy to find in a day or two). Let’s say my 6 rep max on incline dumbbell press is 95lb dumbbells. Well, instead of doing 12 reps of 65lbs, 10 reps of 75lbs, 8 reps of 85lbs, and 6 of 95lbs (36 total reps)…. Here’s what you do… 10 sets of 3 reps of your 6 rep max. Once you achieve 10 clean sets of 3, the following week you try 10 sets of 4 reps (you should fail on sets 9 and 10… or earlier)…. You keep going week after week until you get to 10 clean sets of 4reps. Once you achieve this, you shoot for 10 clean sets of 5 reps of (what was) your 6 rep max. And you go week after week until you get 10 clean sets of 5 reps. The idea here is that all 30 to 50 reps are closer to your 1 rep max than a traditional 6-12 rep set. I can only do this a few times a year, but it’s really fun, and I always see my overall strength go up after the 4-8 weeks that this lasts. Love the channel, and thank you for what you bring to the online health discussion!

What started out as a warm up set or two for my core barbell exercises (squats, deadlifts, overhead press, rows…) has turned into what I’ve seen described as ‘pyramid sets’. This kind of developed organically and I continued because it felt a good. So the question is: are pyramid sets a good training style or should I stick to a more focused approach (my primary goal being body recomposition, though I do get quiet the kick out of lifting heavy)?
@Alex440813 жыл бұрын

When I was in high school I remember people talking about creatine like it was a steroid 😂 I wasn't into lifting then, but my athlete buddies would talk about it under their breath like they were going to get in trouble. One of the school's best wrestlers got injured and my dad mentioned it was probably because he was "on the creatine." Now I'm recommending it to my older friends and family members as a general health supplement. I bought a big bag of it for my parents and had to really sell them on it. It's funny how things like that come full circle.
