@Gentleman’sGazette when the first Kingsman movie came out there was a list of rules for a modern Kingsman. It looks fun and it very well might be a good subject for a video sometime in the future. 1. A gentleman never talks about conquests, private matters, or dealings. His business is nobody else’s. 2. A gentleman never clashes in public with enemies or exes, or worse, with out-of-fashion contrasts, colors, or styles. 3. A gentleman is always happy to serve, whether it’s opening the door, picking up the bill, or merely calling a cab the next morning. Ask him for help and he can not refuse. 4. A gentleman never reacts to rudeness. He pretends he doesn’t recognize it and moves on like it never happened, because it never should have. 5. A gentleman is always on target with witty remarks, interesting facts, and conversation starters that bring out the best in everyone. 6. A gentleman asks non-invasive questions to keep a conversation going and attention focused on others. He makes the, feel like the most interesting person he’s ever met, whether that’s true or not.

Do something nice for them, genuinely ask them how they are and engage in a conversation rather than making a statement that is loaded with lots of negative associations. Context is everything. While I agree with most of the list, some of those are not insulting or not gender specific. For example "You're Crazy"... If you think that phrase is worse only sexist when said by a man to a woman but if said to another man it means something different. then "You're Crazy". (see what I did there). Anyone that can take non-gender specific terms and then makes them about gender is a red flag. Do not continue with forward with that relationship. If you are trying to get on a woman's good side, stay clear of the "back handed compliments" like listed in this video. Some of those things though, if I heard "Mansplaining" used unironically.. The date will end right there. Anyone that uses a gender specific word that both genders can do isn't a match. Smile, Thank her for her time and never see her again.

I think it's more about that fact that when you say this, it's true to you, but it won't leave you in good standing with your partner if you think they're a potential good friend that can be their for you in rough times. Some people go into relationships without much planning, and end up losing some gain financially because they can't satisfy the relationship and their work needs. But they might end up becoming good friends instead of lovers if they know they can't be together without bringing down each other financially, whether unintentional or not. If they're a genuinely toxic person who only wants your money and time, and not you, then it would be better to tell them upfront (if you can do so safely) that this relationship is not working out. Like how for work, when you want to leave in good standing, you put in a two week notice of your leave, so they can try and find another person to replace you with before you leave. This other person, if mature enough, will understand your decision and might feel the same way about splitting up. But if you both know your good with finances independently, you might consider becoming good friends to help each other out in rough times, instead of burning all ties with them. Unless they aren't interested in helping you, are toxic in behavior, or just don't want to be around you.

I do feel like this video needs one large asterisks. •Can make you come across as sexist• I am a believer that most people aren’t racist, sexist, etc... but people often don’t think of the context, don’t realize how *because* of the particular dynamic (a white person lecturing a black person, a man over explaining to a woman, for example) it can appear that you’re being bigoted. I also know from personal experience that most of the time when someone has “no filter” it’s sometimes because they genuinely don’t understand that what they’re saying could be harmful. I spent months literally being trained on how to act socially by a close mentor, and so many things I’d never even imagine could be considered taboo, or mean, or taken personally, I realized I’d been saying.
@KomradeKrusher3 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with you to some degree. Yes, most people are probably not aware of how what they say might make them seem in certain situations. However, the true problems arise when these people, once being made aware of it, stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the fact, instead ranting against imaginary "woke BS" etc. That being said, all the more respect to you for taking that certainly often difficult journey.

The problem with some of this advice is devoided of necessary context to the situation one finds himself. For example, number 11 can be appropriate depending on the situation. If someone has the wrong perception about an event that happened between clients or work, then the expression can help reframe the conversation and steer it to the heart of the matter. Number 11 makes the lazy assumption that this expression is innately sexist or offensive; and it assumes there isn't a larger conversation going on. The advice in this video also does NOT take into account that an actual prior conversation has occurred or is taking place. While some of these are obvious such as asking a woman if she is pregnant or she needs to smile. Offering unsolicited advice/opinions/intrusive questions always runs the risk to offend man or woman, nothing especially revelatory about limiting this to women only. I think a closer examination of the assumptions and motivations to give this advice would underscore how a content creator sees its own audience or men at large.

Wise advise. However, I have been in situations where trying to choose my words was far harder than controlling the person's actions. Meaning the person wanted a response, and I wasn't having any of it - I end the conversation and left the room; I have never shared words with this individual again. Nice video though, keep up the great work and stay safe.

Or maybe it's because the intricacies of videos like these go completely over your head. This is a channel for adults, yet viewers are being lectured to like they're children in a school yard. Not only that, but it generates the idea that anything a man says to a woman can have deep sexist meanings simply because it's a man saying it to a woman, rather than the thing being said itself actually being sexist - this belief in itself is sexist. It also plays right into the hands of the current SJW trend of men being evil and in need of "re-education" whilst women are completely innocent victims.
