I start my no spend on Black Friday morning and ends the following year on Black Friday. I don’t eat out I make my food and coffee at home, when I have doctor’s appointments all day I bring a lunch and lots of water in a cooler. I make everything from scratch even my bread from wheat berries, I find that now that I don’t eat outside the house these last 3 years I haven’t been sick with stomach issues. I control what goes into my food and save money, it’s a win, win.

I will be starting my first ever no spend January 1st of 25. I actually really enjoy scratch cooking and make it instead of buy it challenges. I've been able to replace items I would normally spend a great deal on week over week with cheaper homade, and usually tastier and healthier versions this way. I'm not good at saying no.......to myself or the kids, I mean the money is there, what does it really hurt, right. I want to change my mindset permanently. I find we are in a constant cycle of donating clothes and other items to local charities. Donating no longer used items is, of course great, but the fact we donate almost monthly tells me we need to get control over our spending. Most of my friends do a huge whole home clean out and donation biannual. Doing it this much means we are purchasing stuff we do not really need, and ultimately quickly get rid of. My other overall goal is getting a real emergency fund built up for my family, and teaching my children and myself to be more fiscally responsible.

I am going to do a no buy clothing and accessories year 2025. My goal is not exactly to save money because I never had a budget set aside for clothes buying... but I am planning to use all my clothes that I bought and have already. I am telling myself "you bought them to wear, so wear them". I am hoping it will be good for the environment as well as my mind too.😅

Back in 2021 I did a no spend January that turned into 6 months very quickly. I was also doing a deep declutter both of these combined showed me the items I truly valued. It wasn't until I got a new job in Aug 2021 that I allowed myself some new tops for interviews & that new job. This was also when I realized that I'm comfortable in a graphic tee & hoodie, but I feel sexy in my court clothes. You find yourself when you challenge yourself.

Personally the best way to save $$ is to keep urself busy, with work or with house work or something, when ur mind is occupied by something 90% of the time, u won't have the energy to think abt buying stuff. I save the most $$ when I'm working overtime like crazy, all I want to do is rest instead of shopping or surfing online

I am going to expand on that I do a NO spend year. For the last 2 years, since I am on fixed income, you get used to it, yes its hard in the beginning but its worth it in the long run, if you can do it go for it otherwise start with a no spend month and expand on it

Thanks. I'm on a fixed income. It took a while to get used to it. My spending habits were bad.

I think I will try it in January. Thats a good month to try one. Like you said, I'll need to think it through and prepare my mind. Eating out will be the hardest.

I tried it a little bit this year- no makeup bought & used what I had, no clothes bought besides one dress I needed because I had zero, no venues or fun besides for my birthday, no coffee bought out besides 4 different occasions with friends, 😅 I tried

Hi Jennifer 👋 I just recently discovered your channel, and I LOVE IT!!! I think I've been binge watching for the last 3 days, and every video makes me more conscious about what I do with my money and motivates me to take control as opposed to letting influence, pointless trends and artificial "status" spend my hard earned money. I'll be joining you for no-spend January!!! P.S. I loved your videos about Aldi, as this is where I shop (and I'm not going back to overpriced posh...ish supermarkets here in the UK).

I’m doing a no spend month for January and February. I need to save a quick two thousand before my car arrives at the end of March. That means I can just use cash and not get a small loan.

Donna, that is a great goal!

I do this every January into Febuary. It is a great way to boost savings: short/long term, emergency funds, or to obtain a current goal. I plan ahead in December to get myself mentally & positively psyched up. It is so worth it. The growing pains of denying those little pleasures equal a priceless sense of pride in a well done savings total! You got this.

My husband and I will be doing the January no spend month and possibly continuing other months when possible. My weakness is cross stitch patterns and fabric. Give me strength Lord!

Sandra, you can do this! Try to stay out of stores with those items that you want to avoid 🤗

I’m going to do a no spend January! For the first time! It’s already in my planner! I’m going to focus on reading a book and putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Just bills and groceries for me:-)

i am not necessarily doing a "no spend" month, but what i've recently thinking about doing starting from next month is: as soon as i get my pay-check, i withdraw $70 in cash, spend it, and put the rest of it in my piggy bank if i eventually have money left. the money remaining in. my account goes to my savings account in my bank account and stays in there so i can pay my bills. i noticed myself that i am more careful with spending cash money than i am with my debit card

I’m planning to do a no spend YEAR! Cross your fingers I make it. 😂😂. I’m doing it to increase my savings.

I think I might give it a try. I’ve noticed I’ve been mindlessly spending money and this would be a good opportunity to curb it and get on track. Thank you for the advice.

Did a buy nothing January this year and having a plan made a big difference in success. It continued into February until spouse's birthday. Next year I'll add stretch goals in case i keep going past January. Unsubscribed from 10 email lists and canceled a subscription in anticipation. Having a project or two helps, been looking at past spending and it increases in the Fall, I'm thinking of doing another buy nothing month in October or November.
