Really enjoy the videos and they give a rare glimpse to the life of a very successful gigging musician and a lot of what goes on in between the performances that no one is thinking about while enjoying the music and how often it seems like a much lonelier life than most would imagine ..Of course with your experience I am sure you developed many strategies to keep sane through all of it , not to mention the reward of an appreciative crowd .. I imagine even these videos are in some way a helpful exercise while on the road ..Thank you again , it’s a learning experience watching them as well as the many other band compilations as well as the documentary about you and Russ and waddy as part of the Section

Hi Lee, enjoy your rest days between shows if you can. When listening to yourself playing over 50 years ago it must bring back memories. Do you ever think “I would do that track differently now”? 😊

Haunting strings on the first track filled with polytonal and chromatic mischief. The Bass Part on the second track is almost as loud as the lead vocal, beautifully busy with a crunchy edge. That Peace/Love Bass certainly has a lot of mids, probably caused by carving off half the body. Thanks for taking this deep dive into memory lane, very insightful!

I hope you stay warm. I used to stop over in Amarillo a lot back when I drove, going up to Brighton, Colorado and back. I enjoyed Del Shannon. Was a sad loss. I like these songs. I wonder if your ride will be by way of the plains, or thru Raton Trinidad, & Pueblo to the Springs. Playing it again, to dance my way up and about to Better Slow Down. 💃 Careful out there❣️

Hi Lee!! Enjoying your venue videos as always. Interesting show as compared to the large band. It sounds like the books are selling well at the merch table and I'm glad to hear that. We didn't get the chance to do the second book signing at Norm's but you're probably selling more at the merch table after the shows. If you still have a lot of books yet to sell after the Fall shows are over we can see if Norm will let us do another one at his great store which I'm sure he'll be glad to. I never listened to a lot of Del Shannon back in the day but that first tune you played was pretty nice. Always amazes me how far back you and Russ go playing together!!! Take care my friend!! 👋👋. Interestingly enough, I also went on a wikiwander today. Did anybody know that Mungo Jerry's (no relation to Mungo Park, also interesting) "In the Summertime" is the best selling British pop single in history? Is that possible? Remember "... Yellow Bikini" and the other early hits you mentioned indelibly. The first one here sounded totally different and reminded me of Alan Parsons Project but must have been earlier. It also brought on an episode of our household game show "Are Those Lyrics Toxic?". The corrective for this one would be Bill Withers' "Whatever Happens." As for the second one, it also gets a 🥇: the first time I can recall bopping around while seated at the kitchen table eating my kimbap. Every time you pass through Amarillo it reminds of the first time I drove through with my Dad. Must be absolutely unrecognizable today.

Hello Lee and Lee fans from one of your brethren in Alamo Heights, TX (San Antonio). I reiterate many of the notes in other posts, but also wonder: a 12-hour bus ride from Kerrville to Amarillo? Did the driver have to take five 1-hour-long breaks? If that's the norm these days, then OK, I mean no offence. Google Maps says it's a 7-hour drive at most. But, glad you're on your way, Lee. Another day on the road, closer to Pasadena, Maureen, and the dogs! Which dogs are still with you?

Mr. Sklar- I have a truly bizarre question (and, my guys will tell you that's saying something): Back when I was watching.. Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, one of those... it would have been.. 78? 79?... I saw Jackson Browne playing my favorite song, at the time, "Running On Empty" and there was this guy playing bass for a rock star with a shaggy brown beard. And the TV had the name "Leland Sklar" on the screen. Obviously, that was you, Sir. The question I have: You were singing "Runnin' low" into the microphone. (Don't ask how I remember that. It was the 70's and I had just moved to SoCal and learned all about smoking a couple of joints a day). Anyhow, was that a recorded track everyone was playing to, or were you actually singing? I've not seen you do it since.
