Momma only made a carrot cake once a year and maybe a batch of lemon bars. We grew up with very little sweets. Momma was a tiny bitty thing and just wasn't a sweet eater. But in her 60's she desired sweets all the time and ended up with Diabetes lol. Bless her heart.

❤❤❤ I absolutely L-O-V-E Banana Fritters ❤❤❤. They are a tradition in our family. There were 7 kids in my family, & sometimes when Mother was trying to get us kids ready for church on Sunday, our Daddy would get into the kitchen & make Banana Fritters, which were a real treat for us!!! However…our family recipe is very different from yours. First, we make a pancake batter, slice the bananas…then we dip the banana slices in the batter & fry them in the hot oil. Finally, we sprinkle each fritter with powdered sugar…WOW…what a treat!!! To this day, when our family gets together for a few days, we always have one breakfast consisting of our beloved banana fritters…🩷🩷🩷

I had a neighbor that would frequently bring over a bunch of bananas because they wanted me to make banana pancakes for them. Well. I was making those banana pancakes and banana bread without nuts all the time so I couldn't stand the thought of buying bananas for a long time. I still can't look at bananas without thinking of the neighbors, who paased away a few years ago. I'm not a big fan of pancakes so I prefer making fritters. My fritters are more like dough and I add brown sugar and cardamom instead of cinnamon. No eggs. If I have a fresh lemon I will also add some of the juice and some zest. For the glaze, I grate the hardened brown sugar and make a cream cheese glaze. Just a few days ago I decided to make banana fritters but realized I didnt have much oil on hand after I had already made the batter. So I added a small bit of softened butter to the batter and made waffles. They were deliciously perfect. I don't think I will be using a lot of oil to make fritters too often because after the first waffle on the rack had cooled off enough, I tasted (gobbled) it and wished I had made a bigger batch. They were nice and crispy on the outside and so yummy glazed. I ate some with maple syrup instead of glaze.

If you have chickens, you should be crushing your egg shells and feeding them to those chickens, it provides them with calcium and strengthens their shells. Also give them those banana peels, and any other scraps you have. When chickens are cooped up, it's your responsibility to keep them healthy, and you do that by giving them healthy foods. Scratch and other types of chicken feed is intended to supplement their food over winter when fresh food is scarce or not available, it's not intended to be their main food source. Think of it like this, if your chickens are healthy, they'll produce healthy meat and eggs. If they're unhealthy, their meat and eggs will be unhealthy. Give them all of the greens you can, most chickens are fond of kale, but any greens are better than nothing. If you have a garden, your chickens will eat the green leaves from most plants, and their vegetables too. They love fruits, so when you eat an apple, give them what you won't eat, including peelings and the core. Just don't give them hot pepper scraps, that's just cruel. When chickens molt, give them extra protein. Give them fresh water daily, don't just top off the water left in their trough, empty and refill it with clean water, keep them healthy. We raised chickens for meat and eggs for years and years, what they eat, you eat.

Ok....first timer for your channel here. I want to make these and the apple ones, and I've read through the comments, but the thing baffling me is-the recipe calls for adding BUTTER TO THE OIL!!!!???? (I had images of those deep fried turkey fails!) I notice you do not add this butter. So.....what is the deal with the butter/oil thing, please? Have you tried it? I'm so looking forward to exploring more of your channel!

My mom used make deep fat fried biscuits ( those chilled biscuits that come in a tube from the store) which she would shake with cinnamon and sugar. But I don't ever remember her making donuts or fritters. Mom always worried about keeping her weight down so deep fat fried stuff was a rare treat for us kids! She did a pretty good job keeping her weight down, I don't think she ever weighed more than 135 pounds. Can't say the same about myself though! I haven't seen 135 since I was 20.
