What I remember about the rise of the Great Emu Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Emu Wars, the Emu Legion was discreetly transferred back to Sydney. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Sydney, not when The order came down, and not when we marched into the Opera House. Not a word."

I fought in the "Rat Rebellion" in Detroit in '77. Like the Great Emu War it has been largely forgotten and erased from history. And, like the proud Australians who served, the men who put down this gnarly uprising in Detroit are largely ignored, the civilian population viewing it as, "animal genocide". We were called, we stood together as men and stopped Detroit from becoming a scavenger-ridden hellhole.

"We entered their territory, they were around every corner, we'd hear them every once in awhile, we'd see 1 or 2, but the shadows are filled with them.. and the longer we stayed at war, the more they got to join their cause.. it was a losing fight from the very start."

@alehaim4 жыл бұрын
Okay, this is so darn freaking awesome! The story is good for this short film, the humor is absolutely amazing making me laugh several times, the characters are believable enough while the main character's motivations are believable. The visual effects are just absolutely magnificent as the emus are used in my opinion almost perfectly considering they are edited into the film while the gun shooting and fighting scene effects are done beautifully. The costumes and practical effects like blood also were done magnificently. The props used for this film are just amazing looking, all the while the filming locations chosen are basically perfect(besides the Hollywood sign). The cinematography also was done wonderfully. The parts I feel are the only bad parts of the whole film are the Hollywood logo at 18:18 and the rolling down the hill starting around 16:00. The Hollywood sign took away my immersion of watching this film because of how it reminded me this is a film as there is no Hollywood sign in rural Australia, where I get the feeling of this taking place. I don't think it would have been too hard to edit it out. The rolling down the hill part also broke my immersion because it didn't feel like a single roll down the hill, but instead it looked like several different scenes stitched together, along with the fact that the lighting just seemed to change just so slightly during that scene, which further broke the immersion. I understand it is not the easiest to get this kind of scene to look perfect, but still it could have been done better in my opinion. I would rate this 9.5/10. The film overall is just magnificent and without flaw besides the editing of the two scenes I mentioned. Every single person who did the production and acting of this film did an absolutely amazing job!

This is an absolute work of art. The way that the film rolled out is sure to make any history lover's day. Not many know about the hard fought battle against the emus back in 32 but the ones who do don't dare to speak of the horrid tragedy that had taken place. My heart goes out to the Australian soldiers that fought in this brutal war; they were so incredibly brave. I'm excited for the second part of the short film that will release when it's ready; I'm sure it will amaze me as much as this one did. Good job on this very well made satirical reiteration of one of the most important war written in the books.
