This video shows looks like great progress to me. During the same period of time, all I managed was to fix the laser mouse on my computer, which had gone on the blink due to a tiny broken wire. Tiny, tiny stuff, my old eyes can barely see. Hooray for me too. I was shocked, when I plugged it back in and it worked again after a week of being disabled. It is what it is, once again.

I'm a younger senior. Lol. I've done mechanical repairs on my own stuff for almost 50 years. I've done some body work after a wreck or three over the years. Mostly involving wrecked fenders and attaching used parts. Nothing as involved as what you are doing. I have a 4k phone I watch this on. I also follow the guys at Cold War Motors in Canada. Both of you do amazing stuff with crude tools and old fashioned methods. I'm here for the knowledge, not the pretty pictures. Keep doing what you do. Best of luck with your project.

There is nothing wrong with the quality of your videos Jonathan!! They come out just fine. No different than any of the other channels I watch. It's the education, your knowledge you pass on! Like straightening out that frame on the 39. I thought for sure you were going to take it to someone you knew and pull it on a frame rack. But you didn't! You used your roll back,a piece of I beam, and a block of wood. Amazing how you got that frame back to where it belongs! And a little heat, a body hammer. You are a good hands on teacher. Each time us viewers get to see what you know and how to go about figuring things out! Thank you Jonathan!

Video quality is THE content, NOT the resolution. As for the panel fitment. I've found over the years that aftermarket panels 'get you in the ballpark' and are RARELY a direct fit. What you are going thru to get the panel to fit is pretty much 'par for the course'. Keep up the good work and thank you for bringing us along on the journeys of repairs, rescues, and recoveries.

Hey Jonathan dad had a 39 Master 85 when I was 13. He found it on the back row of a local car lot. It looked awesome to be 25 at the time. He approached the lot manager who responded "you're welcome to drive it but it knocks" Dad being very familiar with these cars and engines from his teen and 20's years went on a drove the car around the block. Dad looked at Mon sitting in the passenger's seat and said "I know exactly what is wrong with the engine and how to fix it" He went right back to the lot and got a good looking body clean interior 39 Master 85 for a song. He drove it home, put it up on heavy wooden blocks he had sourced somewhere I forget, and proceeded to pull the main bearing caps (and the rod caps as well if I remember right:. There were shims under the bearing caps back then since the bearings were poured babbit as opposed to precision inserts a few years later . All the original shims were in place. Dad pulled shims as he had learned in his younger days to "freshen her up" put the pan back on and filled her up with oil. Cranked it up, no knock, oil pressure came on up and away we went! The old girl served him well as a work and putz car for the longest until the next Galaxie or Impala caught his eye. Seeing you do this car such kind justice in restoring one of the awesome automobiles of the time that put America on wheels is amazing. But to see the old girl come out of the basically the scrap heap and be restored brings tears to my eyes. I learned how to shift a standard in that old Master 85 and have fond memories of my dad (a really great man and father) and I just goofing off going to the store for a soda and candy bar. That was 58 years ago so to see the old 39 Master 85 "Betsy" as we called her vicariously come back to life through what you are doing for the old Girl is truly moving and very emotional to me. Daddy would be proud of you guys!

Great Videos! The boys & I watch all the time. Note: When we get a 'after-market piece', we see how it will fit; then we normally divide the part into smaller sized pieces and bend, reshape, resize, stretch, etc. Why? Answer: there is always a misfit in the aftermarket piece that is either to short, to long, overlap, under-lapped, straight, but should be curved, or curved, but should be straight, etc. Therefore, by cutting the misfitting aftermarket piece, doing what is necessary, we avoid the 'crazy' struggles (and swearing) we had to do with the misfitting piece by at least 50% of time saved. Keep up the good work. Well, back to the shop!
