Driving a barely running old thing like this is sometimes more fun than having a fast, modern car. You just gotta feel like it. I live in Middle Europe, we had this socialist car called the Skoda 120L (or Skoda Estelle in the UK, not sure they exported it anywhere else). Rear-engined, rear wheel drive, makes... some power. Around 54hp. I had a '77 one of those in similarly... "panoramic" condition, I mean I had a great view to the road beyond me as well. But it was running and I used it before it was restored. Great fun. Scary fun though, and not one the police likes.

That was the best effing car related video I have ever seen. I haven't seen rust that gorgeous since the 1970's. Reminds me of an old International Harvestor SUV Suburban type thing my uncle in Riverside had. It was huge and must have weighed about 10 tons. He called it "the old I.H." When I was a kid, we drove it out to Fontana in search of a cheap spare tire. It was like riding in a big metal box with brown vinyl bench seats. The only A/C was rolling down the window by hand crank. Interesting ride. Thanks for the memory.

In Spain you have to pass a car test every year or every 6 months. If the tires are not stock, they tell you that you can't go on the road. If the road cops see you with something like that you are getting a good ol' insane fine and your license taken😅
@JJFlores1973 ай бұрын
Here in California, we have no vehicle inspections. Its ironic because California is the most over-regulated and over-taxed state in every category you can think of, especially emissions testing, yet there are no safety inspections. Your car can be in unsafe condition to drive and no one cares at all. But if it doesn't pass smog check (emissions testing), you can't renew your tags and is not 'legal' to drive in CA roads until you get it smogged.

No crumple zones, no air bags, no rollover protection, no seat belts - ANY sort of collision is going to hurt! And with that much play in the steering you don't have time for texting. If all cars were like this more drivers would pay attention to actually driving and staying safe.

That was a real life loading screen tip when you were stopped at the traffic light and noted that you can see the road through the floor. I actually didn't realize it's not road legal until you mentioned it though. Didn't think about it, just figured it came from the factory like that or something.

Also, all of the old Willys Jeeps had synchros on 2nd and 3rd gears. If you can't shift up or down into those gears without double-clutching, either the synchros are shot, or you are not trying to shift anywhere near the shift points (for example, the shift point for the 2-3 shift is 20 mph).
