You can go to school and they will 'teach' you everything in three or four years and then you forget about most of it making what's left basically nonsense or, you can work in a competent shop for four years, retain what you've learned through specialization practice, repetition, watching and listening which you'll retain for life! Never discount what an old gearhead has to say! Bello's nails it once again!

That idea with the bracket with the two sets of holes is brilliant. I am going to try to remember that one. Thanks. It is so nice to know that some people still take pride in doing their job right. Like the old code of the west, "Do the right thing." Maybe that was just a myth then but it is still good words to live and work by.

It's surprising how important just 2 inches is. My '55 Chevy had a Camaro rear-end in it that was 2 inches too wide and it screwed up everything. I put a Quick Performance 9in in there that was factory width and it turned out great! 255's on the back now and they don't rub!

The guy I rented my Body Shop from had a 1966 Chevy Nova, nice car with some go fast all up in it. He got to checking out the rear Differential a 12 bolt done before he got the car. It was Multi-Leaf they had change the spring perches from a Mono Leaf Spring. It had a over size weld and warped the axel tubes. He was ole school cut the perches off straightened the Axel tubes. Put new ones on I welded a little and stopped periodically to keep from getting it to hot. He used a Bar Stock Steel end to end turned in his Lath to match the Bearing size. making sure it would move freely as he welded. This fix took one second off the Quarter Mile time for the car,(low elevens all day). No Doubt what your saying makes a difference. not to mention you could push that lil car around with a finger. Not bad for somebody who don't know what they're doing lol

I could have all the equipment that you have, but since I have not fabricated anything in my life, al your equipment that I have would go to waste. You have been perfecting your art work with sheet metal and other metals for some time and it's almost like you know geometry but in a more simpler way. For example the rear end, who knew, you did because your artistic look at things (related to vehicles), you know how to fix the problem. Me I would be out there for months trying to fix just 1 problem. You look at the problem of the pickup and you already know how to fix all of the problems. You in a lot of ways are a lot like my Father and My Fathers Father. It's a real honor to watch Your show every weekend, I Thank You
