Genius at work here or what? This is just how they did it back in the day, source all your parts from junkyards and then start cutting and welding. Cant wait to see this one bogging! Props for the outro video with Pablo's grinning jowls flapping in the breeze. Cheers!
@volvobrynk3 жыл бұрын
With all that epic frame work, that would be so cool as a real Gasser build! Even adding a semi god paint job, a 301 SBC (the best engine Chevy never did) and a stout powerhop, as in the olden days! Maybe even southeastern gasser legal! I really respect he work you are doing here! It’s a pleasure to watch!

I hate to see an studebaker chopped up, but as rotted as the frame was, making a gasser is actually saving it. Put a powerful engine in so it will never know what defeat is!

I like it....I like it alot.....I will be watching this one , and be working on my own. I am currently doing a 50 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe, it was a 2 owner original that I drove it in stock form for around 6 years.....boring.... So I started collecting parts and a couple months ago I started doing it to it...with the help of a uncle on some suspension fab work..the car is being built in a tent in my driveway....and I live in Oregon. So far the new front suspension , 4" dropped tube axle with coil overs and 4-bars, disk brakes and cross steering mount to new frame tubes starting at firewall. Then the rear suspension was installed...first by moving the rear rails inboard, then building a homebrew truck arm with coil overs , then narrowed a dana 60 housing and installed ford torino type axle tube ends and filled it with custom built 35 spline racing axles, a spool and 4:10 gears, this was all done so that the Mickey Thompson 29.5x18.5x15 tires mounted on 15"x15" steel wheels will hang under it....actually I opened the wheel wells so that I can let some of the meat hang out... front wheels are 15"x4.5 American five spokes..going for kind of 70's street freak look , not real high with the very slight nose up look. For power its a 69 327 sbc with a tunnel ram w/2 Holly's and all the other go fast stuff , scatter shield and a 69 Muncie M-22...Rock crusher..trans. And tuat all gets set back 10" in the chassis....on and on...as I come up the cash I then order and install the parts. I will probably not be doing any dirt racing with it...its just going to be used for going to town..... its all about having fun.

Looking good on the Stude Gasser build. When I built my gasser frame. where the frame kicked up from the firewall I cut a piece at a angle of the 2x3 tube coming off below horizontal to the new frame. Bolted the spring inside for the rear mount. Used the shackle in the front.
@HalfassKustoms3 жыл бұрын
interesting the studes frame I found kicks out in the front kinda making the spring placement weird actually but I'll tackle that better when I get it back in the shop.

I made the same mistake with my Rambler Brent. My springs were from a 61 Econoline and they were really long! Thank goodness my buddy knew more than I did and steered metal in the right direction. I opted for the Speedway spring kit with bushings and shackles for $90.00. Worked out slick. I wanted the nose so high in the air that I couldn't see the road in front of me! Bringing it down a little bit now. When you're done you can race Corey's Henry J!

Studoodle bug, itty bitty 2 footer trailer springs giv'n the straight axel a hug, hung out on 2×3 steel cuz the old frame's crunchy like a bug. Stude diff out, replaced by one with some clout, nose up n diff down, up front a bullet nose snout. Radiused wheel arches cut, lowered in da butt, she's a roller push her out to the dirt where da grass ain't cut. Studoodle bug nose up in da air, pablo's nose in da wind n ears flapp'n without a care. Pup dog looks happy rid'n with you there!

I dig the look of a gasser out of a stu- Bocka and think that as frames go, it might of went easier to just remove from the original frame and set it on even a frame from a nash rambler as the stuff there is as far as I have seen you reach back and save. I like the looks of gassers and loved driving them in the time or day as called. If you pull this one off, then your the god of metals!!! LOL.
