In the 1950s cars were works of art. The car manufacturers back then really knew how to do great styling. Today's cars have to meet all these fuel economy requirements. As a result today's cars are all the same plain vanilla aerodynamic shape. Also to reduce weight and meet safety requirements large chrome bumpers no longer exist. Instead there are energy absorbing bumpers with a plain painted plastic cover.
