And he never got above a high idle was the biggest problem of all here..He never gave it much throttle..

Bud, put a tiller extension on and move up to the middle bench.... You'll see a world of difference. Get that thing on a plane and it'll fly but you are too far towards the back

Boat should go at least 25-30 mph. I put a 9.9 on mine and it went 26mph. You just need a little weight in the front to help it plane out.

jeff bieschke the motor prolly use to have 15 horses now it just down to 4 ...like u said u have 9.9 , i have 8 hp merc and it went bout 26, these boats are light so when they get on a plane they should be skimmin across the water!!

I have the same boat with a Ted Williams 9.9, I'm going to put the battery and fuel tank in the bow.

the boat is only rated up to 10 hp and that's a lot for a 12' tiny sea king,, I have owned several of that exact model... looks and feels like a death trap to me.

Ohio River Pilot most 10hp and 15hp models are exactly the same except the carburetor and maybe some small things

I know this is old, but that 15 is running more like a 4, or didn't you open it up enough to get on the plane? RichE

From what I can recall, the more throttle I gave it, the high it went. Felt like it was going to flip.
