With all that complicated custom restoration repairs, I would have substituted the straight steering column with a safety steering system, reinforced the cabin, doors, floor, and hardtop to upgrade the body to today's crash protection standards. Everything else was a wonderful remanufacturing and restoration work. You have a unique 1957 restored Chevy Bel Air. Thanks.

A truly magnificent example of a 2 door 57 chev, the noise is music to the ears. From one hoon to another, stay well and as I've heard before, keep the shiny side up.

Had an exhaust leak in one of my 57 BelAir's back in '73. Pulled it into the shed, popped the hood, dropped the left side header, slipped in a new gasket, bolted it all back together and was off for a night's cruising. It's a whole different world today.

@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Funny you should mention too much power Keith, I have a story that I neglected to put in the video. I’m running around 10psi of boost. I screwed it up to 12psi and took the car out and it scared the crap out of me. It fired the tyres in first and second, and nearly speared me into a tree in 3rd. I drove it back into the shed and wound it back down to 10psi. I found my limit that day! Thanks for watching and sharing your kind words mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍

This brings back memories of my 57 Chev that I bought in 1968 while in the service. Before being shipped to Vietnam, I drove it home from Tustin, CA to W. Long Branch, NJ to put on blocks till I got discharged and home. Loaned it to my brother for his HS prom and he unfortunately destroyed the R/rear corner panel backing into a telephone pole. This was after I spent BoKoo money to have it painted Emerald Green. Ended up selling it to his "shop teacher" for peanuts. Oh well, I thoroughly enjoyed your restoration.....EXCELLENT WORK. My only negative comment is the Gold........never liked it on any car as an accent.

Most people would of gave up, too much work... I done the same thing, gold base paint and put gold metal flake over the base paint before applying the candy apple red paint and had to put a intercoat between the metal flake to keep from the candy bleeding through to the under lying paint... Looks beautiful with the Gold base paint and gold metal flake... accents in gold also, looks good.

What an awesome build. I love all the cool features and details you put into it. My friend from high school (late 1970's) had a 1955 Chevy that we used to work on all the time we weren't working on my '69 Camaro. We were too impatient to drive them to put cool power windows and illuminated buttons in them. I remember using a milk crate to sit on to go cruising a few times in the '55 Chevy because there wasn't enough time to put it back together before we had to leave. That's the beauty building a car as a mature adult. Again, great job, thank you for sharing. Ok, what's the next project car ....... :)

Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your story mate, that’s very cool. I had a 1951 Henry J on a 60 Chev chassis when I was younger, and I remember sitting on a milk crate and my mate pulling the car down the road with his motorbike with me behind the wheel....just like you we were too impatient to wait to get it running😂. The next project is already underway and I have a video series in progress detailing that restoration. Check out my FJ45 Restomod playlist if you want to follow along. Cheers😎👍

Dude, I love how he was explaining his dad‘s 57 how he took the 283 bored out the trip power on it put a four on floor in it I was like yeah! 🤘because if I had a 57 that’s what I wanna do with it Maybe not the tri-power thinking more like dual quad set up or just Holley EFI Btw yours is cool too. Just a little bit too much for me but I love all 57 chevs still on the lookout for one for a good price.

Great video Terry, your passion comes through loud and clear. As a matter of interest, what are the GGs or have you not had it on a dyno. As previous mentioned, the colour is great. Keep the correct side up in this case as it's shinny underneath too.

That’s too funny Greg, I never thought of that but it’s very apt. I have not had it on the dyno but I have a desktop dyno program where you enter all the parameters and it comes out around 600hp at the flywheel. I really do love that car, I put my heart and soul into it. Thanks for watching mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍

What is the engine specs? The induction / fuel injection looks like 1990's LT-1 , but it looks like it has a distributer ( no OptiSpark ) . It sounds awesome. I'll have to rewatch it to see if I missed engine info / cam / etc. Did you get a chance to dyno it ? Stunning car.
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith, the car puts a smile on my dial every time I drive it. The engine is a 350 4 bolt main block and that’s the only factory item on it I think. The crank is a scat forged unit, H beam rods, dished hyperutectic pistons, custom ground crow cam, with a Holley intake and fuel rails, and bosh injectors. I’m pretty sure I ran through this in the video somewhere. It was running 600hp on an old tune, it’s probably a little tamer than that now because I dialed the boost back after scaring myself😂. Question again mate😎👍
